- World Farm Animals Day, observed on October 2nd, is dedicated to exposing and memorializing the 65 billion land animals raised for food who suffer and die every year.
Thank you everyone who was at Farmer John today in person and in spirit to protest the slaughter of pigs. Over 100 advocates showed during the day to speak up on their behalf. We blockaded the entrances and stopped the pig trucks from entering. We were literally 1 ft away from hundreds of screaming pigs in the hot trucks. We touched their snouts and faces. It was a very emotional experience for all involved. We held the trucks off for quite awhile but the large contingent of police eventually moved us out of the way. Ellen Lavinthal and Christina Cho were arrested and jailed in the finest tradition of civil disobediance for not letting the trucks past them. During the 11:30-1:00 demo the pigs were being murdered and the putrid stench of death filled the air. You could taste it. Everyone was being bathed in and breathing the remains of those poor tortured pigs who were screaming for their lives just a little while earlier. We were mere yards from the kill floor. The animals are not voiceless, we heard their screams, we saw the fright on their faces. Farmer John never hears the screams of the 6,000 pigs they kill every day only the sound of money. Death is not a commodity. This Madness must stop NOW! Thank you everyone for bearing witness to this animal holocaust. We must never give up. Those brave pigs didn't ever give up. It was an honor to stand by your side today. For the animals always!

I was there and looked into the trucks and observed a scene straight out of Pavor Nocturnus: injured pigs foaming at the mouth with many unable to stand. All with a look of desperation and utter pain and helplessness. Most were screaming for help that will never come
It’s sad that they are mistreated but I do believe these protesters are doing it all wrong. They want us all to stop eating meat, not possible. Instead they should fight for better treatment for animals at slaughter house.
You can make all the choices you want, including your choice of diet. Please allow me to make mine, and if it includes meat, accept it. If you fight to prevent me from choosing my diet, I'm going to fight back.
I'll eat bacon, I'll eat ham, I'll eat sausage as long as I can!
What do you think would happen to these people if they actually succeeded?
i could not just watch the truck go in.. i would jump aboard!
The more time those trucks are park ( not moving) the more those animals are suffering do to the lack of flowing air inside the trailers , trailers are not equipped with a/c , the driver has a/c , so if you really are doing this for the animals move the fuck away from the gate and let them walk off , they are gonna get kill one way or other, let them die humanly , not by suffocation because the lack of air, I mean at the end who's really getting punished here?
And please, next time go to the owners house or who ever give license for opening this business, this are legal businesses, you can do that in Sacramento and on your way there please stop and see how most field immigrants workers are treated humane and see how they do all the backtracking labor picking up veggies for all the vegetarian people, thank you .

Congratulations to those brave enough to endure the sight of those poor pigs being driven in by truck to their deaths. Some keep pigs as pets, others eat them for their own pleasure. Sad. In this day when it is common knowledge a plant based diet is healthier and more environmentally sound, millions of farm animals have to endure lives of torture and constant suffering to end up on the plates of the uncaring. Disgusting - this plant's mural depicts happy animals -- nothing could be more false.
You guys are my heroes, and definitely the animals heroes even if you couldn't spare them.
