Great timing Adrian, we just booked a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Quantum of the Seas next October . We are now even more looking forward to it thanks to your video.
Discovery Princess is one of our favorite ships! We just sailed on her in August to Alaska from Seattle. It will be interesting to see what happens with this itinerary when the $42 Mexico tax goes into effect.
Thanks for watching. She’s a beautiful ship. Yes, it looks like most ports around the world are digging their claws into the cruise industry but ultimately it will be passengers who pay!
Hi Adrian, your video was great. I enjoyed your commentary and all the beautiful scenery, it was a pleasant surprise to see how interesting the area is. Laughed at the out takes 😂
Thanks for watching! It’s definitely one to consider - although a terribly long flight 😅 on the plus side it’s just one terribly long flight from Australia’s east coast.
I always load a few episodes of the Love Boat on my iPad for the flight to a cruise! It'll be interesting to see what impact the upcoming Mexico port fee increases have on these itineraries!
Hi Adrian, may I suggest a video to inform about the benefits of repositioning cruises such as trans pacific. I've enjoyed 4 between Oz and the USA and 3 in Asia. Many people are unaware of the pleasure of arriving or departing from Australia, lots of beautiful sea days and lower cost.
Loved your review. Can I ask how do you manage tipping. I find it confusing as I know on RCL you prepay gratuities and yet tipping is still expected. We are normal Australians not rich and have to save and budget to have these experiences. So I would love some advice how to navigate so we and the staff are treated correctly especially on longer cruises. TIA. Will continue to watch your reviews. Thanks for all your work.
20+ Cruises around Europe on Princess over past 7 years and I've never seen Medallion Pay ashore. Shame it's exclusively US, although I don't recall seeing it Alaska in 2019
Great commentary Adrian - succinct and entertaining. BTW, we never, ever take princess shore excursions. They are twice the private price and far too crowded. Private tour operators who offer shore excursions are 100% committed to getting you back to the ship on time these days. One slip up and their business is sunk! (through reviews). Having said that, one has to be careful in not doing excursions that take 6 hours of driving during an 8 hour allowable port time. Cruisers need to take responsibility as well.
Thanks so much Larry. Glad you enjoyed the video. Totally agree with your reasoning regarding whether cruise line excursions are a good idea or not. It really depends on the itinerary and place.
Oh my, my. my Adrian ... You are such a young presenter, do you remember watching The Love Boat on tv ?? Were you around in the 1970's and 80's ?? he he he he he Trivia question ... Which cabin was the most popular "high End" cabin, on the Love Boat akin to a suite cabin ?? And do you know that particular cabin on the Pacific Princess was actually a shoebox of a cabin, with L shape bed arrangement. How disappointing !!! That cabin was Promenade 348 !!!
I loved watching the Love Boat! Admittedly, they were re-runs haha! Some of the plot lines are borderline ridiculous 🤣 but always entertaining. I enjoyed when the crew came to Sydney, seeing my home town on telly was thrilling, and it looked like such a small home town back then too lol! Imagine a ‘suite’ with an L shaped bedding setup - I’d want my money back 🤣
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m intimidated by US tipping culture - it’s completely foreign to me. A couple of dollars per bag is probably a good rule of thumb. Also remember that it’s not mandatory… but you’ll likely hear the porters ask outright or at least mention that tips are appreciated.

Thanks for sharing. We are doing the same itinerary on Royal Caribbean over Christmas. Looking forward to seeing Mexico.
Looks stunning 🏖️🌮🍻

Thanks so much Sue! Glad you enjoyed the video and the outtakes 😂
looks like a cruise to add to my list lol
Great video Adrian...we've never really thought of doing a cruise out of Los Angeles but you have given us food for thought....😊

Love the Mexican Riveria. Have only sailed on NCL Bliss but loved it. Great review Adrian!
Thanks Dominic! It’s such a beautiful part of the world. I’d happily return.
I've added this to my wish / bucket list. But first, Asian adventures from Singapore
Another great video Mr Beard 👍
Have my first cruise booked for January guess I’ll discover my favourite thing about cruising then 🙌🏻
Love it! 😁
Thanks for the review! We were just north of you in Punta Mita! I should have kept an eye out for Princess Ships.
Ohh! I did see a Carnival ship off on the horizon at one point, but didn’t see an NCL ship at all during our travels.

Great suggestion. I've actually already made one, buttttt it's an old one and could probably use a refresh 🫣 ruclips.net/video/jOExR1jb9gA/видео.html

What do you think is an appropriate amount to tip a porter at a Sea Port (per bag)?
