I bought my SurRon LightBee, (Firefly) a year and a half ago. On a warm day, if I tuck my chin in tight against my handlebars, I can get my old, fat 210 lb ass up to 47 mph. I imagine a one hundred fifty pounder could easily get it up to 50 mph.

The Sur Ron bike is my favorite have one right now ...but what I can say it definitely don’t get you up to 60 miles on one charge not even in EP mood but what I can say it’s by far the best price range with great handle and speed ability 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

@@hodaka1000 I got my fz6 for 3.5k and it will do 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and still gets 45mpg, 180 miles on a tank.

Have driven Sur Ron extensively. Super fun. About 85km/hr. I recommend upgrading components like brakes and forks.
I live in China btw. Can buy one for about $1800 here.

The 1st one up to 1h ride time . Max speed up to 45mph . Range up to 60 miles. Something doesn’t add up.
Hello, thanks for your comment. There are several modifications and battery setups. The most advanced could last up to 60 miles. The 1 hour ride time is shown as an estimate, as there are usually more and less intense parts of the riding course that could drain the battery faster or slower.
I see people already mentioned in the comments that the E-Ride is missing so I'd add Electric Motion's EMSport and ETrek to the list.
Also, isn't Alta out of business now?

You can kick and fight against it but the reality is that electric bikes are the future; be it in 5, 10 or 15 years time. Battery life, range, etc will all improve to the point where gas bikes will not make sense anymore.

SurRon looks like the most competitive and worthwhile of these. I'm waiting for Zero to put out a Zero FX Lite with 12hp and long range for under $5k. Then I'd go into hock for one.
Hello, thanks for your comment. There are actually US companies that tune Sur-Ron for better performance. A s for the Zero FX, they introduced a new model for 2018. There are several upgrades but the pricing is similar.

This is definitely heartbreaking news. Why would HD do something like this, considering that they are getting ready to bring their own electric motorcycle to the market next year?
The only advantages of electric motorcycles over gas-powered motorcycles are: they are smooth and quiet, and you don't have to shift. The disadvantages are: less power, less range, battery maintenance, long recharging time, availability of nearby specialized mechanics, and availability of recharging stations (as in nearly none).

PEV's make sense for skateboards and scooters and smaller stuff like that, but at this size and price range, you aint gonna beat a normal ICE setup... But hell in 5 years it will be there.

Yes, you are right but the difference in pricing is not critical, so those with a budget and understanding of the benefits brought by electric motors could actually get these now.
There is a lot less maintenance compared to a petrol engines bike.

Minimalism is the way to go with electric vehicles. Every ounce adds more amperage into the motor's power draw decreasing battery life.

Where did you look up these figures? We still have to understand that Sur Ron is a Chinese company. so the pricing for their products in different parts of the world could differ greatly.
I have a petrol engine dirt bike and I have to ride at least 100 km per day to become completely tired. That brand new bike costs approx 11k Euros and it has the best suspension and built quality, relatively very light weight in its class. Among electric bikes, there is nothing even close, so I assume that these fancy EB are just toys to show to your friends but have no practical value compare to petrol bikes

The range depends on various factors but the estimated range should be over the half of real-world range. The mpg rating of ICE isn't always accurate, is it?

Looks like plenty of room to mount a small generator and fuel tank I wouldn't mind sacrificing a little weight if it had an indefinite range provided there were gasoline in the generator

While your suggestion may sound like a good option for cars, where extra weight is less noticeable, having a range extender or any other type of ICE on a freeride or an offroad motorcycle goes against the whole point of silent emission free riding. We also get comments people asking for solar panels to be installed on an electric motorcycle or scooter and we have to admit that having a range extender or solar panels are some of the ideas that are least likely to be implemented in this niche. They may work on a large cruiser motorcycles but on a freeride bike, where weight matters a lot. If range extenders were viable, they would have been implemented by now, don't you think?

Sure, no problem. There are different types of consumers, some of them are ready for the all-electric shift, some of them are not. By the way, the batteries are getting better year after year. The Oset bikes are nice, we haven't noticed that they have a series of grown up bikes too.
That dude is not grasping the idea of an off road motorcycle. It would be a disaster in the handling and weight department to add a small gas engine (as a generator) on a electric street bike the size of a BMW S1000 RR or something else comparable. Let alone a bike to ride off road or on motocross tracks/enduro trails. PHYSICS!
