  • Stephen Fry discusses how to keep your mental health while staying at home during Coronavirus. He is on the show in his capacity as the President of Mind.
    He discusses how time passes differently while at home, in isolation.
    Great discussion from a great man.
    Recorded through the air, off the TV. You may need a BBC TV license to watch this.

    Just wanted to add from the small community of Bucks County ( outside of Philadelphia) I have been following Steven on RUclips , theater and shows for years. What a brilliant, humble, self deprecating, genuine man. A genus truly!!
    Somebody you genuinely would love to have as you’re brother, or wise uncle. Thank you for your insight, into us”human beings.” I will continue to watch, and enjoy ,as long as you continue to graciously share yourself and your talent.❤️❤️❤️

    This just saved my head from exploding .......who ever uploaded this it’s just what I need to hear. The stress of isolating and constant negative Facebook posts almost made me loose the plot . And breath..........thankyou xx

    I’ve, lived and worked in the countryside all of my life and much of that time spent on my own.
    So I’m used to living in isolation. The lockdowns for me are no great hardship.
    The advice about our relationship to time passing is good. Slowing things down to live at one’s own pace, returns a great deal of control, even over feelings of loneliness that might emerge.
    ....Social distancing can happen psychologically too, and it doesn’t have to be a bad thing.
    It’s a good thing to get out into a garden, if there is one convenient. Or even creating one if there’s the space to do it somewhere.
    People spread diseases.

    Great stuff from Stephen - one thing, he says... 'check last thing at night if you want to'. In the sake of trying to get some kind of undisturbed and much-needed sleep, perhaps leave it until the morning to avoid the nightmares. Please take care everyone

    Even though it sounds cheesy , the message I always think of is the "stay clam and carry on" slogan from the war. It's always been my go to thought for even small things. So often we panic and it not only doesn't help, it sometimes damages our situation more. It allows you to allow the things you can't control to just happen and focus on what you can do.

    Thank you. Also thanks to the person who filmed and posted this. Please could you perhaps add ‘corona virus covid 19 stress’ into the title so that it can be found easier when that is typed into the search bar. I only found this because I saw it on bbcnews and searched RUclips specifically for this.
    Thanks again, so many people are so scared, self included. This type of discussion really helps to bring calm, for me at least.

    Trying to lip-read, but the text bar covers his mouth. The text bar doesn't seem to cover what he is saying. Guessing is difficult. I'm hearing impaired, tho not completely deaf.

    • @OCTOSHED
      @OCTOSHED  4 года назад

      Ah, that's a pain. Maybe I can try getting RUclips to generate the script. It might work better than the one they use on Live BBC programs!

    • @OCTOSHED
      @OCTOSHED  4 года назад

      Yes, try switching on the Auto Generated RUclips subtitles. I've tried it just now; looks more in sync and possibly more accurate..!

    What's those Captions on the screen? They are so annoying! They are not Captions of what they say, they are subs from a different tv show or something!

    • @OCTOSHED
      @OCTOSHED  4 года назад

      Yes, I think it's because they were generated automatically on a near-Live show. Try the RUclips automatic subtitles; they were a bit better last time I checked...
