- Nieuwenhuysen (1756-1841) was a Dutch organist and composer who wrote religious songs, cantatas and some orchestral works. His "Battle of Doggersbank" was a large composition for two orchestras in 37 sections.
This symphony was written for the commemoration of 150 years of Utrecht's University.
