Whatever the government does for the development of navi mumbai, people will make it dadar and lower parel like chawl area, because of the slum and chawl lifestyle and upbringing mentality of majority chunk of people. It becomes the culture of mumbai. And moreover, in mumbai 60% of the population falls under the poor, lower and middle income group. If someone goes to airoli of navi mumbai, he/ she will find that chawl infra and people also turned their houses and areas into chawl only. All the residential buildings have commercial complexes below. Commercial and residential areas are mixed. There is no separate residential area(Hiranandni like SEZ are excluded). This type of plan made the city appear as a chawl city. Honesty to talk, Mumbai attracts the labour crowd more than other city because it has more small and medium scale industries which gives more employment to the unskilled and semiskilled crowd than any other city(+ve point). This ia the biggest reason the city turned as a slum city by the local politicians to create vote bank. But Dont give the example of hindi film industry of mumbai here. Film industry's financial contribution is hardly 2% to mumbai's economy.

@@whocares5584 There is Mumbai-Pune-Hyderabad high speed rail (bullet train) project which will also have a station in Navi Mumbai. I read somewhere that there is a plan for that station to be integrated with Navi Mumbai International airport & also metro but no confirm news report.

In other countries almost half of the instructions are written on roads itself in maybe yellow color which also makes them look good. But our roads looks very bland and Villagelike. And also why the dividers in india are so bad and made out of concreate stones?? In china they install proper steel railings with nice paint(not like our yellow and black concrete stones😒).
Foreign roads are mostly made up of Asphalt, this gives road a dark colour shade. In India roads are made up of concrete which gives them a bland look. Asphalt cannot withstand high tropical temperature so its not suitable for indian climatic conditions.

Mumbai has a large population, good connectivity etc. Central and Eastern parts need to be connected with Airports, world class rail and expressways. Only then the investment will come. And there is a need of a large skilled population. Its futile to invest in a region where you just have farmers and small traders.

#askpt All this is fine but my biggest long term concern for MMR is regarding the political instability. What's your take on this issue as we have all seen that how projects were being intentionally stalled and delayed. If again such situation arises it could be a big setback for MMR. NCR has amazing infrastructure developement because its a UT but MMR is held back by the politics. Mumbai needs stable governence otherwise new centres like Gift city are emerging and if MMR slips due to poor politics it could be game over as competition is ramping up and mumbai can no more take it's position for granted.

Good video. You missed out on the development of the Sports Association that is also coming up in the area. Football Maharashtra Centre of Excellence that has already been built, you can see on the top right side of the plot. Three Football fields have been built for top level training and a fourth one is being built. I had heard from a source that an international level Football stadium is also to come up next to NMIMS college in the area but haven't seen an official confirmation on that. Recently an adjacent land was allotted for Rugby and some time back I had read an article about a national Olympic training center proposed in the area. All of this being international standard so it's safe to say this Kharghar area is also being developed as a one stop sports association. Even the Golf course is currently being extended from 9 holes to 18 holes which is international standard.
Instead of Focusing on Sports Associations, Why Not Maharastra Government Focus more on their
1>MSMEs Manufacturing Factories.
2>Urban Planning
3>Increasing STEM Education to Churn out Real Engineers and Scientist to do something for India

China every year has the most numbers of athletes competing for medals at Olympics. India has the same potential if provided with the infrastructure. What you mentioned is also important but maybe somewhere else in maharashra. The kharghar area specifically is perfect for sports as its already an educational hub. Urban planing and connectivity in Kharghar is the best in Mumbai and MMR.

This area is too far for anyone in Western suburbs or mira-bhayandar, Vasai-virar area. That Virar-alibag multimodal corridor must be made to connect this area with western outer cities. And Mumbai metro line 2B, well integrated with Harbour line, should also be made before it is ready so that from any part of the MMR, you can reach this place in under 1.5 Hours. Otherwise, this will not get as much of a high-end locality status. Connectivity to every part of the MMR will be crucial, through public transit and through roads.

Why these people are not planning Airports at least 50 km away from the city. I think it is much more necessary to bring out such projects in high population density areas such as UP and Bihar as these states have biggest cities being too vintage and rusty as they are too inland to be trading unlike other big cities but these IT parks don’t have such limitations (PS I am not from any of the states it is just my opinion)
As per my knowledge this project is of state govt of Maharashtra. State govt planned it long ago when they were planning Navi Mumbai now work is going to start. Unfortunately state govt of up, bihar were engaged in local politics, corruption and misgovernance. However things are changing now hope such projects will come to up and bihar in near future.

Firstly, Mumbai got itself cleaned of it criminal gangs. Lesser the crime rate, higher the investment.
Secondly, Mumbai, and also Navi Mumbai have a natural advantage of being near Sea. Carrying raw material to states like UP, Bihar, and taking back the finished products to the ports increases the costs.
However we have been hearing good news about UP getting a lot of investments. Give it 10-15 years of good governance, and UP will be unrecognizable.

south Mumbai will always be the downtown. it is the only part of Mumbai to be planned in a good manner that encpurages small businesses in an organized way. It’s people friendly with architecture that appeals to the human eye. This has not been replicated in any other part of Mumbai, where evrything is car-focused and some attempt to look like a new New York with soulless skyscrapers

Actually, there is not need to build so much infra and all that. The point to take in consideration is it environment friendly and good for long run.
Now, it is not matter of infra because some research had claimed that Mumbai will go under water if this is not taken into consideration.
What sustainable solution had we found for flood that occurs every year, had any effective and environment friendly solution found.
Finally, it is all that Nature gives us all, because we cannot live without that it we have only building, and infra made of synthetic material.

Yes now this year local train network will reach Uran in southern part of Navi Mumbai. Then there is Airoli-Kalwa connector, Panvel-Karjat line, new Digha railway station under construction. There is also demand for increasing frequency on Vasai-Diva-Panvel line.
Mumbai has slum and chawl culture... Whatever the government does for the development of navi mumbai, people will make it dadar and lower parel like chawl city. Because of the slum and chawl driven mentality of people. It becomes the culture of mumbai. And moreover that, in mumbai 60% population falls under lower and middle income income group. If someone go to airoli of navi mumbai, he/ she will find that chawl infra and people also made their houses and area like chawl only. All the residential building has the commercial complexes below. Commercial and residential areas are mixed. There is no separate residential area. This type of plan make the city apperaed as chawl city....
If BKC has no space for IFSC, then MMRDA should develop one on the mainland where land is available to compete with GIFT City..
