That Mario silhouette wipe at 1:09 is very impressive. Those wipes have to be done on a per-line basis, and each line can only have one segment in the middle which is transparent, which means your shape cannot have any vertical convex shapes in its design. Which is why it's traditionally a square or a circle, or the keyhole shape in Super Mario World.
The SNES actually has two windowing masks so you can have two segments onscreen (see Mario's cap from the silhouette). Of course, more complex shapes still can't be created with just two windows.

Person who made this deserves a job at Nintendo
Agreed
Actually SMB3 came out before SML, so Drybones is the original Drybones. This game really is awesome, thanks for showing it off! I want to see expert mode, especially with four players!
I like this. This is actually really, really cool! You rule Darby :-)
Thanks! And thanks for watching.
No problem. man. Thanks for making an awesome video!
On a pixel art stand point, here you can see a clear example of very clever use of each pixels, retaining the same palette limits dictated by the Snes hardware, the artist managed to capture and retain that Nintendo DS style. Kudos to whomeva did this
Amazing! The SNES was capable of so many things we never knew about.
I know! Crazy
Awesome stuff!! I'd LOVE to see 4 players in action! :D
Me too. I wonder if it runs well with 4
Who ever made this needs to make mario land 2 please
I think this is really cool. Two underated games combine to create one of the coolest things to run on an SNES I've ever seen. Definitely will be checking this out.
Thanks so much anonymous creator for this christmas gift. :) I love Super mario land and this is a wonderful remake!
It’s so freaking cool
This looks super fun.
If there’s something like this on the actual DS, I would totally play it.
It’s really great
I am super impressed that this is a snes game. This probably took a lot of work to do.
edit:Holy crap this is made from scratch this guy has my respect.
So amazing
It is impressive but the graphics aren't quite as.
@@kellymountain for a snes oh yes it is.
Pretty awesome! I was able to mod it onto my SNES Classic which is the second best way to play this next to real hardware.
That’s super cool. I just got a real snes cart in the mail with this game on it
I dob't just think it’s cool...
I LOVE IT!!
I'm very very grateful that someone not only remade my favourite childhood game but also defied reason by making it on the snes! Only constructive criticism here- stop mario from shouting woo hoo every time he jumps- it's really annoying, and the hit detections slightly off.. That said, this really is one of THE best mods/remakes in recent time 👍 Wizardry
NSMB graphics: *Exists*
Me: I had decided to buy NSMB2.
NSMB + Super Mario Land: *Exists*
Me: I had decided to buy NSMBU Deluxe. *(for real, tomorrow)*
Nice! :D
25:55 Mario, Luigi and Daisy escaped in a rocketship that was right next to hers, on which she could've gone on her own. LOL.
Lol! That’s pretty funny
If you lose all your life you will get a game over
Yikes
My gosh!! I wanna see a super mario land 2 remake. That one was so interesting!
Agreed

@@kellymountain I apologize if you don't care for the way I type my messages but I'm in fact 27 years of age. I hope you have a great day. The "Ok Boomer" stuff doesn't effect me I've been called much MUCH worse. Take care
You 2 have such great chemistry i swear you guys are brothers in real life its awesome. This game looks fantastic by the way
Who's excited for the last Mario chaos episode ?
Anyone ?
Soon Rebel!
Blue Television Games, I love how you respond to people here in the comments. It makes you seem so much more like a real person (which you are of course!)
How is this possible on the SNES?
Wow. So smooth animations, and even the wall jump..
This is SO cool..
I know! It’s crazy
Hey, it's a homebrew of the console where Donkey Kong Country released. :P
@@MarioFanGamer659 how do you know?
Did you see this from DGR? Because he was live last night and he played this!
NOPE. Recorded this yesterday with Lair
Blue Television Games oh ok. It’s awesome isn’t it?
Downloaded it super fast just in case Nintendo takes it down
Trust me, they will
Good idea Epic Typhlosion
Download link pls.
@@MadScientist1988 It's still in the description, I think
From where? Magnet links grow back. Yes zey do.
That is soo cool you guys... I played SMLand on my gameboy when I was a kid. Very awesome.👍🤓👋
I love the original. I like this mash up of multiple games
Yay lair is playing this game with you, yu'r lucky to have him play with you i can't get my Brother to play with me anymore because he does not like me. quil
Sorry to hear that
quil
Wow this is awesome!
I can’t imagine how long this took to make
Amazing especially considering that the DS had processing power around the same power as the N64.
This looks more like a fan game on pc rather than... a... homebrew snes game?
I know. But it’s legit
I remember having anxiety at a restaurant and watching you. Thank you!
Gba is not a potable SNES
Ds is a potable SNES
Hmmmmmm🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Love your videos u r best
Thanks Akash! You rock.
@@BlueTelevisionGames darby remember me I change my logo but still love your videos 🤗
DS is not a portable snes, it is more powerful and has better graphics capabilities.
@@corsinivideos But it has *SIMILAR* power.
And was milked to death like with the Wii
I wanna see 4P expert. You could invite Syd and Morgan to play this. It’ll be fun!
We gotta love the fact how random people on the internet are better at nintendo's job than their own employees are.
Fun fact: The jumping sounds and animations are from the E3 2004 demo of NSMB.
You’re playing video games with D’Arby?
Be warned: he’s a *STAND USER*!
He’s especially good at video game classics like F-MEGA and OH, THAT’S A BASEBALL!
Lol
*Imagine if this took Donkey Kong Country's position in history*
Hi i changed my name
(Comment what you think i was named before) ok btg also ur still great just dont play fortnite.
Nintendo: you've mamma'd your last-a mia
I liked the old name! But that looks neat. Thanks for watching.
@@BlueTelevisionGames ok i change back for u
A lot of people are asking how the SNES can be so colourful. I feel this is a great time to plug my favourite creator, dots. He has a series explaining this:

Between Super Mario Land, Super Mario Land DX, and New Super Mario Land, New Super Mario Land is my preferred way of playing Suepr Mario Land. I was pretty surprised to see this game on the price charting website, so I checked on ebay and found one! Can't wait for it to come! Also, I don't have much playtime with Super Mario Land DX, because even though I got the rom working and liked the rom hack, I couldn't put it on my R4 card, so I'm not gonna play it. It was also quite the hassle to get it to work
Considering that DKC-Trilogy worked very nice on the SNES it would be interesting if this would work on real hardware.
It does
I never realized this before but Mario's death scream is actually kind of hilarious hearing it over and over
