    That infrastructure presenter got me and I am praying that these projects get off the ground and finish. Now all government entites got their mandate. Now the government workers ( we the people) have alot of work to do to move our country forward.

    This budget was a relief to me. For over a year, there has been chatter about raising the threshold. I feared they would raise it without raising the minimum wage. IMHO, the threshold should always be raised in lockstep with the minimum wage. Those above the threshold got a $50,000 benefit (25% of $200,000 increase), security guards got a $52,000 benefit ($1,000 x 52 weeks) and those at minimum wage got a $104,000 benefit ($2,000 x 52 weeks). (I know these are just back-of-the-envelope calculations) Inequality has been a problem in our country for far too long. I'm glad the government has taken advantage of the low unemployment rate to help the lowest income earners. Hopefully, a low unemployment rate will allow them to continue raising the minimum wage for many years to come.
    I don't agree with #5. If you are in business, you are on your own. Business is a capitalist endeavor; not a socialist one. The government has no place in business other than to facilitate its formation and continuation by making the civil service as efficient as possible, making the judiciary as efficient as possible, eliminating low level corruption that adversely affects businesses and eliminating crime that affects businesses. Anything beyond that is silly politics.

      Great assessment and thanks for your feedback! We definitely disagree on point 5. Government absolutely has a place in creating a nurturing environment for businesses to thrive! They do this through policies and incentives for business. Minister Clarke acknowledged as much when I asked him about it last night on Taking Stock. I hope you get a chance to watch

      @@moneymediaja I haven't watched it yet but I will. It's on my 'Watch Later' list. Just to clarify a little more, I agree that governments who want to promote economic growth need to create a nurturing environment for businesses but not through direct incentives. Fostering low crime, low corruption, being more efficient and providing industry-relevant education opportunities for the young are some ways of doing so that benefit everybody; not just one particular group.

      Even the big capitalist countries, nurture certain industries through government subsidies its part of the capitalistic framework.

    • @seymourgreys2185
      @seymourgreys2185 4 месяца назад

      @@tariqali-uz2vw That doesn't make it right. Those countries don't do everything right but often get away with unfair or bad public policy decisions because they have the economic might to do so. I reiterate that taxpayer-funded welfare programs should only be given to the poor who have limited means to help themselves; not businesses who should be able to take care of themselves. Any business owner with government links is not a capitalist.
