G2 played like monkeys, picking weird stuff (they literally used first pick for Mikyx's Gragas, the Tristana they didn't play this worlds and more...) And also they were forcing things they wouldn't force even against low tier EU teams, like the drake without smite. And always when FPX engaged they just split and run away, letting 2 or more members die for free everytime They were just scared, they saw themselves as champions before playing, and they got nervous when they saw it wasn't going well, they were desperate instead of thinking logically, and that's an attitude thing
We definitely performed better than Korea and NA, but the gap is still there. G2 found themselves in the finals this year not only due to their individual merits and performances or due to the way the team showed itself overall, but above all due to our region being better, thus producing and adequate training environment. G2 is the result of all the competition we had this year in EU. But this was not enough, as we can all see, to win us worlds. The competition in LPL is a lot stronger and their game discipline seems to be consistently paying off. Having fun is not enough to win us worlds. G2 needs to step up their game and get serious next year or else it is likely they are going to be world finalists one more time, instead of getting the prize they were looking to get for so long.
Honestly I start to get the idea that happened because Xerxe was the only jungler who faced Tian that knew how to play against him. In all other games/series he looked unstoppable.
@@ohmnesia Actually if you watch Jankos versus Xerxe its mostly dominated by Jankos not only in terms of map pressure and map reading, but also in fighting with the team and duelling.
Same idea with Fnatic and IG last year. Fnatic got the best of IG twice, until the final when a totally different beast appeared, i feel the chinese teams hold back in groups.
Regards to mickyx's answer, it must be weird. You are literally second in worlds, beating all the best teams in the world in placements, losing to only one, and somehow it makes the rest of your year not seem like a success. I hope they're all proud for getting to the finals, regardless of the result in the match. Number 1 was so close, and I hope that closeness makes them all even more hungry to win next year!
Ofc Worlds is the most important title, but overall G2 was the best team in the World. They absolutely dominated this year, only losing this one final bo5.

Thanks for the fast upload! I'm really proud of G2 and how they played this tournament and this year in general. They are a unique team and I believe they are writing the future of League alongside other great teams. It’s more an attitude and emotional thing for G2. Same shit happened on RNG several times. RNG choked and it worked the same way for G2. G2 has that sort of joking around atmosphere but indeed not face up the opponent and act strong. They chickened out.

I watched the game. Honestly, G2 players are 100% disappointed but not devastated at all. Everyone has a bad day or two. GL next year, guys. Compare G2 with FNC is absurd, EU proved they are strong, don't bash the players.

Im sad they didn’t win, I knew there was a big chance that would happen, but still feels like a bitch, deja vu I guess. I just feel their drafting today was more trying to match/play LPL style than playing their own. For a moments they didn’t look like G2, but still no excuses, banter and all aside, FPX played better, so happy for them, especially after hearing DoingB wanted to retire last year, and gave it only one more year and actually won. And btw. No one should trashtalk G2, they have won everything prior this year, they are after all second best team in the World this year, pay some respect. GG!
To answer your comment, the reason their drafting seemed like they were trying to match/play LPL style, is because G2's style of play IS the LPL style. Teamfights and Micromanagement and super early aggro is how the LPL play and that is how G2 plays. In a way it was a mirror matchup and FPX are the kings of the LPL style atm ( having won summers and beating IG). Simple as that.
sacha Kovacevic FPX is just good all around, FPX’s style isn’t necessarily the LPL style lol, don’t speak that in terms of the whole LPL. RNG does not play like that, IG failed to thrive early game that gave their dominance early. There isn’t an “LPL” style, other teams from other region also have and can play like that. Also I don’t see G2 having a specific style of play, from all the games I watched and paying attention to the casters it seems G2’s play style varies a lot. They have done roam heavy mid, standard mid, AP botlane and Yas Bot. You don’t see that a lot in the LPL where AP not and Yas bot with Gragas. G2 didn’t even play aggressively in this bo5, Jankos pocked Elise but has done absolutely nothing.

Eu is definitely strong! Two finals straight in a year. Just sad we didn’t get to see a 5 game or even a good game. Semi finals of the 4 team were amazing
Anthony dominguez yeah but tbh, EU is on the right path to getting a worlds championship. Remember all those years RNG made back to back finals but lost to SKT and SSG? LPL used to get runner up to LCK often, and now they are the ones on top. It is a process, and takes time, unfortunately that time is not for Europe yet.

I supported Fnatic and after they lost against FPX I really thought G2 could win the final. But, honestly, FPX played their own game and did an awesome performance. I would not dare take away the credit from FPX because they earned it. There is always room for improvement. Let's try always out best.
All in all is a positive thing from defeat g2 in final. They have still someone to beat, strong competition which stimulus more progress, more insane plays, more fun to play and watch. We will see in the year if they succeed. They have a lot of potential etc like win the world without losing a game (some similar as skt 2015- lose 1) but not right now, still not.
I don't think he got outclassed It's more like Mikxy and Capps played series bad in general,plus on draft they pretty much banned champions that Jankos plays really well.Jankos overall played good he has been where he needs to but mid and supp difference was huge.

Target bans? He got his fking Elise, his best champ, an early game champ that can dive towers. What did he fking do? He fking farmed and pve doing nothing like he is Karthus. If you have eyes, you have seen what Tarzan and Clid did with that champion running away with the game early game. Jankos is just horrible early game, G2 got away with murder in SKT series by being better team fighting but Jankos still went MIA early. Shallow champ pool, can't play Qiyana, pretty horrible Lee sin (rusty mechanics). Tian would do the same things on any champ not Lee Sin to Jankos. That's pretty big hole in draft that they have to permaban Qiyana because Jankos can't play it.

The only EU team that can win worlds is G2, but only with the current squad. I really hope that Carlos is smart enough to train them more, instead of changing the roster, because if they change the squad, it's the end if this team
Well g2 should know what it feels now being cockblocked. RNG fans shouldn't feel bad for g2 since these eu fans still act like it was 3:0 when it was a close 3:2. It's also quarters where most upsets happen because of lack of data. With how much people underrated FPX I'm glad they stomped 3:0 especially some g2 players being cocky. That's the 'reality check' for them.
@F G huge FPX fan here thought that they were gonna win the whole thing and they did. This Jankos thing tho, I felt that he was the only guy on the team that isn't arrogant as FUCK. He is the one guy on G2 including the coach and owner that doesnt just flame people that they beat or not beat, and I respect him for that

FPX kept picking the full engage teamfight-heavy teams and G2 insisted in fragile picks vulnerable to that CC (yasuo, akali) and despite Jankos' Elise being overwhelmed by Lee they did not give jg a priority pick and Tian punished the early to mid game
FPX had a good plan. They saw the winningconditions of G2 and played it very well. They deserved the win. Never the less I think G2 still can make it next year. They are one of the top teams and I hope they don't let them bring down cause they lost that final. Keep up guys, G2 Army ist still with you, no matter if you win or lose!
Carlos we all trust in you and all of G2 take all the time you need we still think that you will be World Champions one day and i think you will be the first to be GRAND SLAM Champions!

Tbh this was a great year for Europe, we won msi and made it to our second world championship final. So what G2 lost 3-0, we just proved that we are a big contender internationally and can not be counted out. Let’s go G2 season 10!

to be honest, i hoped g2 would take it, they have the skill, and are playing as a team.. but today that was a deserved loss. I'll go with lwx's statement: "we weren't that good our oponents just played bad" I guess it's the response to all the trash talk, they were to confident. But the 3:0 is to harsh imo aswell... But considering all the efforts china puts into league compared with europe, still a descent outcome, number 2 of the world is not bad.

They are one of the two teams that make up the top 2 teams, and they're not first, that means that by simple maths and process of elimination, they're second. whatever the outcome was, im still proud of EU. all of our teams managed to jump out of groups and play relatively well against seemingly dominating teams like skt and rng. so i'd say this yr is fulfilling and looking forward to next yr. g2 lets go!
I think it came down to them under estimating FPX in general especially DoinB and Tian’s synergy. I think the jungle mid synergy was the key factor in FPX success and g2’s downfall
This one is on the coaching staff... They were clearly not ready for the drafts, and I'm not speaking out of my ass when I say that look at the facts.. They never got an even or winning matchup in botlane, failed to apply pressure in mid lane which lead to them losing everywhere in the early/mid game, they pyke pick to "match the roams at some point" is a terrible idea knowing the lack of wave clear, it would requiere a strong jungler for the 2v2 which in EVERY GAME they failed to get leaving Lee open on both sides and not taking a counter or a higher prio jg earlier in the draft. FPX won draft in blue and red side and G2 didn't have a single answer, they created the meta and simply let it devolve into EXACTLY what the Chinese teams wanted... Ryze got a 4 mr buff and suddenly he's pick or ban, teams banning Pantheon without even knowing why, not testing any counters or atleast on red side banning it last to maybe draw a blue side ban for it as perhaps that team wasnt expeting to play ir or first pick it... If FPX is going to 1p Naut they give over strong adc and strong jungler, even if FPX get Naut, Ryze and a 2nd tier adc, you finish your red side phase with a flex pick and you have a way better looking draft already, if they commit to Naut mid you take a wave clear champ that can put pressure and 2v2 better like TF, Lissandra, maybe even Sylas (would need to test more), or you can even take Renekton who breaks his shield and can apply pressure and be used as a flex 4th pick. If they put the Naut bot you insta lock zyra and now the Naut is literally useless and you have at least a better draft than in all 3 games played. If I can come up with this, being an rookie coach for low paying teams then the G2 management teams clearly failed... Even if what I propose here isn't good in someone else's opinion there is no denying that G2 got outdrafted heavily and had no answers...
I also think the drafts failed and the key factor on drafts should be the coach that should have a cool head... But maybe it is because we are not able to see the full picture... For example about the scrims against other teams... In which players sees that the team that has, for example, pantheon, just smashes the other one...

But it's always first banned on red side, so maybe if you ban it last on red side, the blue side team wouldn't be expecting to pick it first since it's always banned and they might just ban it 3rd since they have to finish the bans before red side. If blue doesn't ban it then you ban it 3rd on red.

You waste a responsive ban to try some trash mind games. Teams have tried this in the past, spoiler, it doesn't end well. With an understanding of draft this low you can't really flame coaches.
Jankos said in his vlog that FPX are the best, and by that the hardest team they're going to face this tournament. They do banter a lot, but it's quite delusional to think they don't respect they opponent who are literally worlds finalist.
FPX look like the weakest 1 seed coming out of groups. They had easiest one yet choked in so many games. After Fnatic series, and definetly after IG series no one even doubted FPX was a weak team.
I'd have wanted an Anivia or a Cassio to deal with the engage and advance, maybe a Taliyah to conter the roam. I don't think Pyke offers enough from mid lane.
Anivia is horrbile pick rn on pro stage. Literally no mobility. Cassio may have been fine. For Taliyah i dont believe they prepared her for mid, as she kinda fell into the jg. I think pyke pick was fine, but id change support/adc for other picks. Pick priority in every game was wrong, Jankos should have gotten that Lee, you cant ban out DoinB so Nautilus should be left open. Morgana/Sivir/Leona bot would be great as well. They are the players, they should know what works best for them. I believe the draft could have been much better but they made their own choices

They could have went with Ryze top and Rene mid. Aspecially considering the fact that Jankos was forced on the Elise that works perfect with both. The games may have went completly different

Im far from pro stage, they definetly considered a lot of options and decided this one works best for them. I respect that and we can only hope for better results next year, already a huge success for the team with unexperienced adc like Perkz. I really hope they are proud of the success that is being 2nd best in the world, achivement should motivate them to improve as there is bright future ahead

Honestly Tian outclassed Jankos in terms of being a jungler, Jankos has Elise who counters Lee sin, if I’m correct, and did nothing. There are way too many champions to ban against FPX lol. Pantheon is a perma ban, kaisa or Xayah one of those has to be banned, then you got the Ryze. Other than that you still have Qiyana which they banned instead because it was a flex pick for Tian and Doinb. Nautilus still open for a flex pick. Needless to say there are still other champions that are worth banning too.
Its not as simple as just ban lee sin.If they ban lee sin they have to leave something like pantheon,qiyana,xayah,nautilus,ryze.It is teams priority on what to ban and what to not ban.watch the draft phases and learn how it works.not banning lee sin wasn't the cause of their defeat if anyone thinks that its bronze af.

going into the finals Perkz was being talked about as a top 3 player in the world, and yet he didn't show up for the series and couldn't show up with his teammates to the press conference. it was clear Doinb wanted to play vs him and took him to town in the finals. The bad thing is people won't recognize the achievement of being able to reach the final and for Eu especially for 2 years in a row now. People just watch the entire tournament and when the final comes if you lose well nothing matters and no one will remember you. I think honestly it was a great year for EU. Finally from the season 1 we won an international event thanks to these guys that today lost their first final of the year. It's ok losing to a final no shame but all respect for these players and EU in general. Overall performances were absolutely great and even tho we didn't manage to reach that big goldie.... Maybe next years's gonna be the one.
Fpx playstyle is really strange, they play heavy cc comps and group all the time, but this is what competitive needs, they need to close the gap between soloq playstyle and meta

You are literally second in worlds, beating all the best teams in the world in placements, losing to only one, and somehow it makes the rest of your year not seem like a success. I just feel their drafting today was more trying to match/play LPL style than playing their own. For a moments they didn’t look like G2, but still no excuses, banter and all aside, FPX played better, so happy for them, especially after hearing DoingB wanted to retire last year, and gave it only one more year and actually won.

To answer your comment, the reason their drafting seemed like they were trying to match/play LPL style, is because G2's style of play IS the LPL style. Teamfights and Micromanagement and super early aggro is how the LPL play and that is how G2 plays. In a way it was a mirror matchup and FPX are the kings of the LPL style atm ( having won summers and beating IG). Simple as that.
I found their drafts really weird. All the champs caps picked had no way to roam early and pekz actually looked like he got exposed

RNG does not play like that, IG failed to thrive early game that gave their dominance early. There isn’t an “LPL” style, other teams from other region also have and can play like that. Also I don’t see G2 having a specific style of play, from all the games I watched and paying attention to the casters it seems G2’s play style varies a lot. They have done roam heavy mid, standard mid, AP botlane and Yas Bot. You don’t see that a lot in the LPL where AP not and Yas bot with Gragas. G2 didn’t even play aggressively in this bo5, Jankos pocked Elise but has done absolutely nothing.

If you have eyes, you have seen what Tarzan and Clid did with that champion running away with the game early game. Jankos is just horrible early game, G2 got away with murder in SKT series by being better team fighting but Jankos still went MIA early. Shallow champ pool, can't play Qiyana, pretty horrible Lee sin (rusty mechanics). Tian would do the same things on any champ not Lee Sin to Jankos. That's pretty big hole in draft that they have to permaban Qiyana because Jankos can't play it.

I think it came down to them under estimating FPX in general especially DoinB and Tian’s synergy. I think the jungle mid synergy was the key factor in FPX success and g2’s downfall
This one is on the coaching staff... They were clearly not ready for the drafts, and I'm not speaking out of my ass when I say that look at the facts.. They never got an even or winning matchup in botlane, failed to apply pressure in mid lane which lead to them losing everywhere in the early/mid game, they pyke pick to "match the roams at some point" is a terrible idea knowing the lack of wave clear, it would requiere a strong jungler for the 2v2 which in EVERY GAME they failed to get leaving Lee open on both sides and not taking a counter or a higher prio jg earlier in the draft.
FPX won draft in blue and red side and G2 didn't have a single answer, they created the meta and simply let it devolve into EXACTLY what the Chinese teams wanted... Ryze got a 4 mr buff and suddenly he's pick or ban, teams banning Pantheon without even knowing why, not testing any counters or atleast on red side banning it last to maybe draw a blue side ban for it as perhaps that team wasnt expeting to play ir or first pick it...
If FPX is going to 1p Naut they give over strong adc and strong jungler, even if FPX get Naut, Ryze and a 2nd tier adc, you finish your red side phase with a flex pick and you have a way better looking draft already, if they commit to Naut mid you take a wave clear champ that can put pressure and 2v2 better like TF, Lissandra, maybe even Sylas (would need to test more), or you can even take Renekton who breaks his shield and can apply pressure and be used as a flex 4th pick. If they put the Naut bot you insta lock zyra and now the Naut is literally useless and you have at least a better draft than in all 3 games played.
If I can come up with this, being an rookie coach for low paying teams then the G2 management teams clearly failed... Even if what I propose here isn't good in someone else's opinion there is no denying that G2 got outdrafted heavily and had no answers...
I also think the drafts failed and the key factor on drafts should be the coach that should have a cool head...
But maybe it is because we are not able to see the full picture... For example about the scrims against other teams... In which players sees that the team that has, for example, pantheon, just smashes the other one...
@@TChLT I'm not saying Pantheon isnt strong or isnt doing good on scrims. But it's always first banned on red side, so maybe if you ban it last on red side, the blue side team wouldn't be expecting to pick it first since it's always banned and they might just ban it 3rd since they have to finish the bans before red side. If blue doesn't ban it then you ban it 3rd on red.

@@IgnaAlvarezVL You really can't. What ends up happening is you lose any edge in draft. Blue side will never ban Pantheon lol they will pick it. It's permad for a reason. You waste a responsive ban to try some trash mind games. Teams have tried this in the past, spoiler, it doesn't end well. With an understanding of draft this low you can't really flame coaches.

Anivia is horrbile pick rn on pro stage. Literally no mobility. Cassio may have been fine. For Taliyah i dont believe they prepared her for mid, as she kinda fell into the jg. I think pyke pick was fine, but id change support/adc for other picks. Pick priority in every game was wrong, Jankos should have gotten that Lee, you cant ban out DoinB so Nautilus should be left open. Morgana/Sivir/Leona bot would be great as well. They are the players, they should know what works best for them. I believe the draft could have been much better but they made their own choices
@@hcms1000able Yeah I'd be worried about lack of mobility, but why would you encourage any opponent to play what they're known for, to play the hardest thing to scrim and gain understanding of and then try matching that style. There were other missteps but Pyke leapt out at me as a big one. Anivia shits on the nautilus pick from mid game on. I think it's a real shame the series was so one-sided.

They could have went with Ryze top and Rene mid. Aspecially considering the fact that Jankos was forced on the Elise that works perfect with both. The games may have went completly different

Im far from pro stage, they definetly considered a lot of options and decided this one works best for them. I respect that and we can only hope for better results next year, already a huge success for the team with unexperienced adc like Perkz. I really hope they are proud of the success that is being 2nd best in the world, achivement should motivate them to improve as there is bright future ahead

Honestly Tian outclassed Jankos in terms of being a jungler, Jankos has Elise who counters Lee sin, if I’m correct, and did nothing. There are way too many champions to ban against FPX lol. Pantheon is a perma ban, kaisa or Xayah one of those has to be banned, then you got the Ryze. Other than that you still have Qiyana which they banned instead because it was a flex pick for Tian and Doinb. Nautilus still open for a flex pick. Needless to say there are still other champions that are worth banning too.
Its not as simple as just ban lee sin.If they ban lee sin they have to leave something like pantheon,qiyana,xayah,nautilus,ryze.It is teams priority on what to ban and what to not ban.watch the draft phases and learn how it works.not banning lee sin wasn't the cause of their defeat if anyone thinks that its bronze af.

It will be interesting to see how he moves past this

Jankos before the match said FPX seems like by far the best team they were going to play at the tournament . And if they had so many problems with SKT they have to really get better or they won't be able to beat FPX.

The bad thing is people won't recognize the achievement of being able to reach the final and for Eu especially for 2 years in a row now. People just watch the entire tournament and when the final comes if you lose well nothing matters and no one will remember you. I think honestly it was a great year for EU. Finally from the season 1 we won an international event thanks to these guys that today lost their first final of the year. It's ok losing to a final no shame but all respect for these players and EU in general. Overall performances were absolutely great and even tho we didn't manage to reach that big goldie.... Maybe next years's gonna be the one.

Fpx playstyle is really strange, they play heavy cc comps and group all the time, but this is what competitive needs, they need to close the gap between soloq playstyle and meta
