    The Google definition of an atheist is:
    "a person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or gods."
    If a person doesn't believe God exists, they also don't believe that the threat of hell exists. If reading a little piece of paper that just told him God and hell exists without giving any evidence to back it up was enough to convert him, then he wasn't an atheist. He was somebody that deep down believed God existed, but was angry at him so denied it. That's not atheism.

    • @LivingWaters
      @LivingWaters  9 лет назад +18

      +Kevin Kelleher Then you'll need to amend your definition of atheist to also include someone who will never, ever change their mind on the issue. Close-minded.

    • @garrettmurray5611
      @garrettmurray5611 9 лет назад +13

      +Living Waters not close-minded. just not so open minded that his brain falls out.
      being open minded only means that you are willing to hear what the other people have to say and will judge what they have to say fairly, it doesn't mean that you must believe whatever is said to you.
      if you are open minded but have no level of skepticism you would have to believe any and all claims regardless of their veracity. the only claims that hold any weight are the ones that have a reasonable amount of evidence backing them.
      for instance if you believed things without asking for evidence you would have to believe in every conspiracy theory you have ever heard. You would believe in big foot, aliens, and probably deny the moon landing.
      evidence is a tool that we use to cut out the make believe from reality.
      never changing your mind on an issue does not make you close minded, what makes you close minded is if you are unwilling to change your mind on an issue when presented with evidence.

    • @kevinkelleher1897

      +Living Waters So are you suggesting that all atheists are atheists because they're closed-minded? That they actually do believe in God, but are choosing to not accept it for whatever reason? If you are, then you clearly don't have an understanding of why most atheists chose to be atheists.
      If not, I'm not sure I understand what you're saying.

      We don't use words according to some definitions but according to the impressions they make.
      This is true for the word god as for the word atheist.

      The beliefs of the majority of people that call themselves atheists match with that definition. There are far more people who call themselves atheists that genuinely don't believe in God than there are which do, but refuse to accept it.

    I hope christians don't think all atheist have come to it through such tragic and damaging experiences. I hope they realize that the vast majority of us just want to live in peace. I know there is a vocal minority of us who attack you and others though I do believe this can be stated for both groups. The way you should come to belief in God is through realisation for your need for a saviour. We have all lied, stolen, lusted, blasphemed and the list goes on. We have all fallen short of the glory of God. My friend. You and I are sinners! There's no denying it. We are guilty of the utmost high treason before a thrice holy God.
      God should send us to hell. Its what we deserve.
      BUT
      God sent us His son, Jesus Christ, who lived a sinless life and died in our strad. He bore the wrath of God the Father on Himself so that we dont have to. And He rose from the grave, defeating death.
      If we want to be saved from our sin, we must repent and believe unto Jesus for salvation.

    When mum had finished giving him the money for the shopping, mum said "Here take this, it's a 'million pound note' for you!!!" He happily took it and said "I wish I was, then I wouldn't have to work here!!!" And then mum said that there was something on the back for him to read!!!

      I believe because I believe what God says about Himself and His standard of good and evil. "Without holiness no one will see the Lord" (Hebrews 12:14). Any Christian would readily include themselves in the "unholy" category before having trusted in the saving work of Jesus Christ. We evangelize because we recognize the danger unbelievers are in and want to make them aware. I think most people would characterize that as good person behavior. If you feel judged or criticized by this it's because you entirely missed the point.

    No offense, but I find it amusing that so many atheists that post here are defending their religion of atheism the way we defend Christianity. We say, based on the Bible, that you can't be a Christian and lose your Christianity. An atheist says basically you can't be an atheist and lose your atheism. Christianity promises eternal life as a gift from God (Romans 6:23). There is no need to fear death and you desire the salvation of the lost. Christ offers hope and new life through His supernatural grace. Atheism promises...? And the atheists cares about others to become atheists because...? Atheism offers....?....and a ? life through nature? I praise God for the testimony of this man and anyone that has come to the Lord.

    • @2timothy23
      @2timothy23 8 лет назад +3

      humanoid21 Here are three definitions of religion from Webster’s Family Dictionary.
      First definition: “A set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code for the conduct of human affairs.” Notice this definition doesn’t have to apply to those that believe in a deity. Atheists have beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, though they don’t know the cause, say everything is purposeless, and describe the nature of things based on their senses. It is still a set of beliefs. Atheists also believe in the creation of superhuman agency or agencies, though not God. For instance, you believe a big bang came from nothing; this is supernatural. You believe intangibles like knowledge, logic, and morals exist, but have no starting point of foundation outside finite man that lives and dies, therefore, it must come from something transcendent. Eventually you come to a conclusion like star dust or Martians (it is documented that Atheists have said this; look it up on RUclips) though they would need a beginning. This beginning must be self-existent or “beginnings” would go on and on. Either way, both are supernatural. Atheists have devotional and ritual observances; this is the reason you have RUclips channels, web sites, and Reason Rallies, because you want to get together and devote your time to reason and do so ritually. And finally, you do have a moral code for conduct; in fact, Atheists pride themselves in saying they don’t need God for morals. So, though you can’t account for morals, you have a code for it.
      Second definition: “A specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects.” Enough said. You don’t have to be a Christian to be religious. The Reason Rally proves this definition true or all of the Atheists and skeptics wouldn’t get together for a group meeting. When Christians do it, we call it church. And since even Atheists want to have atheist churches (yes, it has been documented that you have them), it would seem Atheists fit this description.
      Third definition: “The body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices.” This rightly describes Christians, but doesn’t it also describe the Atheist? Indeed it does. You all believe there is either no God or no empirical proof of God. You believe in your own reason and your senses to determine truth. You believe you can be moral without God. You believe your beliefs are the only true belief, basically saying all other religions that adhere to a deity is false. (Interestingly, Christians say that Jesus is the only way based on His own words in John 14:6, yet Atheists say their way is the only way over all religions, though the way to what? Meaningless life that leads to death.) You also practice a life without God, though you have the same moral foundation as those that know God, yet can’t account for them outside of yourself. You adhere to relative truth.
      Final analysis: By definition, Atheism is a religion. It’s just a religion without a deity. You worship yourself (man), evolution (the creation), and your own reason (worldly wisdom that God finds foolish). Sounds like the very description of all lost people found in Romans 1:18-23. So by the authority of the Bible and the definition of secular sources, I stand by my assertion. Atheism is a religion. Thanks for reading.

      gogreyhound Go back and carefully read the definition of religion from the dictionary. Based on the definition and the consistent actions of atheists found on the internet, RUclips, rallies, etc.; atheism falls into that category. I don't want to make an assertion that atheism is a religion without comparing the actions and views of atheists to the definition of religion. Religion doesn't require a deity, as you notice from the definition, therefore, atheists are as religious as those that believe in a deity. Since you make the assertion that it is not, could you please go over the actions, views, and words of atheists and show how it doesn't line up with the definitions I gave in my other post. Just assertions made hold no weight without reasonable explanations, which atheists are supposed to be known for.

You need to humble yourself and be sorry for offending God with your sin. Faith of a child is needed. That implies humble trust in your Maker and Savior.
      Until then you don't need to concern yourself with Heaven. It's Hell you should be worried about.

      @GoingYard7 9 лет назад

      Isaiah Phillip Suppose that we could speak with an embryo in his mothers womb and that you would tell him that embryonic life is only a short one after which follows a real, long life. What would the embryo answer? He would say the answer atheists give when we talk about heaven and hell. He would say that life in the womb is the only one and that everything else is religious foolishness. But if the embryo could think, he would say to himself, 'here arms grow on me. I cannot even stretch them. Why do they grow? Perhaps they grow for a future stage of my existence, in which I will have to work with them. Legs grow, but I have to keep them bent toward my chest. Why do they grow? Probably life in a large world follows, where I will have to walk. Eyes grow, although I am surrounded by perfect darkness and dont need them. Why do I have eyes? Probably a world with light and colors will follow.' So if the embryo would reflect on his own development, he would know about a life outside of his mothers womb, without having seen it. It is the same with us. As long as we are young, we have a vigor, but no mind to use it properly. When, with the years we have grown in knowledge and wisdom, the hearse waits to take us to the grave. Why was it necessary to grow in a knowledge and wisdom that we can use no more? Why do arms, legs and eyes grow on an embryo? It is for what follows. So it is with us here. We grow for what follows. We are prepared to serve on a higher level that follows death.

    Is an atheist's lack of belief always consistent or do they at times wonder if they are mistaken and God perhaps really does exist. People go through a range of emotions and may not always be rock solid in whatever beliefs - or lack thereof - they may hold.

      I was raised Christian but now I am an atheist. As for your question it depends on the person really. I started to disbelieve for various reasons as a teenager but I still didn't say I was an "atheist". Even in my early 20s I would struggle with what I believe. It wasn't until I really became fascinated with the subject and really learning everything I could about it, that I became more "rock solid". I can articulate it much better now about what I believe.
      When I was Christian my mind was a chaotic mess of personally held truths that contradicted each other, now my mind is much clearer and concise.

I dont read the Bible because of what God offers, but because of who He is. Lets say that when I die, nothing happens, I dont care because the Bible brought me a peaceful, comfortable and a joyous life for me and my family. I would have died in peace and happiness and with a sense of purpose. What is YOUR purpose? To maybe become really successful and enjoy that lifestyle for maybe 20 - 30 years and then die? For nothing? Think beyond just the 80 years that we live here on earth, there is a MUCH bigger purpose for EVERYTHING

    Even if this is legitimate (which I don't believe), it doesn't change the fact that there are many more ex-theists than ex-atheists. Why? Because agnostic atheism is the most logical/reasonable position.

    • @LivingWaters
      @LivingWaters  8 лет назад +5

      Logical and reasonable? Hardly. In a chance universe there is no reason to expect there to be logic. Even if we grant its existence, your worldview cannot account for its properties. Given that the universe is in a continual state of change, why should laws of logic be exempt? We all assume that they will be the same tomorrow, but this belief is unwarranted in your worldview. The existence and properties of laws of logic are unjustified in the secular worldview. And hence, any belief based on them is also unjustified.

    • @adamparks3088
      @adamparks3088 8 лет назад +2

      +Living Waters In any universe, logic can be present. It doesn't matter wether the universe was created by a god or by chance, logic is reasoning that is supported by valid principles. Logic could be "I don't see a pattern here, so I think this is random", or "I see a pattern here, so I think this will happen again". You can find logic in a chaotic universe just as well as in a more orderly universe, regardless of their origins.

    • @LivingWaters
      @LivingWaters  8 лет назад +3

      Again, in a random universe, you are unable to *account* for logic. To use it, is borrowing from a worldview that can account for it (Christianity).

    • @adamparks3088
      @adamparks3088 8 лет назад +3

      +Living Waters Did you not read what I just said? Logic is present even in the most random of universes, it does not need to be based on predictability. And I fail to understand why theists like yourself claim that their religions are more logical than the unfaithful worldview. I hope you understand that atheism is not a belief system and that we will believe in a god (or anything unproven for that matter) so long as proper evidence is presented. It is illogical to assume something for no reason, in fact, that is the opposite of logical reasoning. And it is exactly what major religions like Christianity do.

      Living Waters amen thank you for your question, once I became a true Christian born again, God changed my life but not like any normal thing everyone is used to. We moved and my family and I have been a witness to everyone of our friends and family so much more than we ever had before trying to just speak of the gospel rather than being a living witness with our lives. There are strangers that have passed me by and asked me if I was a Christian because they saw the light of God in me, there's nothing good in me but God. I go to nursing homes with a group from my church and we sing to them and they feel the Holy Spirit very close and a few realize they don't have enough power in the flesh to overcome their struggles and they receive the Holy Spirit. God must help us to discern who is going to accept his light and who will reject it, and we must go unto those lost souls that see that they are lost and sick in need of a savior and healer. Those are the people that God leads us to when we are sensitive to him and his voice. Thank you for your questions God bless you.

    He wanted to deny God, but couldn't quite do that entirely. We blame God when all goes bad. We get disillusioned. We expect everything to go well and then tragedy happens. It shakes our world.
    Eventually God will reach us through someone he put in our path. Then God pulls us out of our pit of dispair. That's when we have a wonderful conversion of our thinking and become truly saved. Up until then we are not true Christians. We we're just attending church, singing songs.
    Now when I go to church I PRAISE God when I sing. He lives in my ❤️ heart now.

      If an offender told a Judge "I did this offense but I did all this good in my community" The Judge will still issue punishment for the offense done. The same is true of Almighty God.
      1 Corinthians 6:9-10 New King James Version (NKJV)
      9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
      Only faith in what Jesus Christ & God Almighty have done brings salvation.
      1 John 1:7 King James Version (KJV)
      7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
      Going on the same example. Offender now tells the Judge. "I admit to the wrong doing I did & I place my faith in Jesus Christ and His blood that washes and cleanses me of all unrighteousness". Now the Judge would see that the offense has been paid for.
      Turn to the Lord Jesus Christ and live.

This sort of spiritual feeling can be created by many things, including entirely normal things like listening to great music or looking at the milky way during a clear night.

    • @JustCameronT
      @JustCameronT 4 года назад +1

      @@benediktk.8228 Well it definitely is more than a feeling.
      Getting kind of personal here, but I've faced a lot of hard things in my life, and I'm still facing most of them today. Life is super tough, and just about a year ago I fell into deep depression. If it wasn't for God's love I don't know where I would be, I wanted to kill myself but the only thing that kept me going is because God was with me every second, did I always feel it? No! And to be honest, there may have been times I doubted God was even with me anymore... But He continued to help heal me in ways that only could have been through Him and I've gotten joy and peace through everything hard in life. And He has used my story and my trials in general to help me and to help encourage others. And all of it has brought me closer to Him and helped me to know His heart.
      Believing things like this is almost the same way you know you love someone. You don't have physical evidence of love, but it is more than a feeling (believe me, sometimes I definitely don't feel love for certain people but I still know I do love them. 😅)
      In my opinion, evidence isn't alway going to help. People literally watched Jesus perform supernatural miracles and still didnt believe. Most atheists already have their mind made up, and even they themselves have no clue when enough evidence is... Enough evidence.
      So I see it a lot of times as a heart issue and not a logic or reasoning issue. Not to say that there isn't evidence.
      If you have ever heard the story of Lee Strobel. He spent a lot of time and effort trying to get all the evidence AGAINST the existence of God to prove to his wife that she was crazy. After going to multiple scientists, doctors, archeologists, and such. He was overwhelmed by the amount of evidence that support God rather than his world view.
      So God can use evidence too, but some people just need to hear the truth that they need a Savior. For me, I grew up in a Christian home, and of course I claimed to be a Christian, but my actions didn't show it. I was super disrespectful to my parents, and had a lustful and selfish heart which got me into pornography but if you had asked, I would have told you I was a Christian, but my secret life didn't support that. Years later, I kept hearing the gospel in different ways I've never heard before, it made me realize what Jesus really went through for my sins and the reality hit me, that made me want to change my life but I couldn't. Long story short, Romans 6 opened up to me that I didn't have to try to stop sinning, I had to trust that I was dead to sin, because Jesus won the battle for me on the cross already, and I was able to stop the sins I had! I don't know if I was saved before that but I know I was after that point and then I hit the tribulations that grew me closer in my personal relationship with God.
      But then like a year or so later, I found myself trying to be a better person for people in my life, and I noticed I was getting worse at sin and such, then had to come to anorher realization that I live for Christ before people, and when I did, everything got better and that's really when I was freed from depression!
      Sorry for rambling 😅 But just trying to show that I view my whole life as my testimony for God and sometimes evidence just is never going to be enough 🙃🙂

Communists are manipulated from young on how communism is the only way, capitalism is wrong etc. Does that make their teachings true? Go outside the box and search for yourself. God doesnt dwell in history books.

      ***** Then the same could for everyone else. Everything is false, no meaning, no purpose. Just opinion.

      ***** If there is no God then there is no higher authority. Everything is just opinion. Who has the higher authority?

      ***** For we do not follow cleverly devised myths when we made to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 2 Peter 1:16
      Knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someones own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:20-21
      Eyewitnesses what more fact do you want?

      ***** Then why dont you seek the proof for yourself? A personal relationship with Jesus will provide all the evidence you will need to put your faith in him. What can it hurt? Pray, ask Jesus to work in your life, trust him.

      +Peter Smythe Well it did not disappoint; this video was the exact cliche of exactly what I was expecting it to be. Ray Comfort is quite a predictable character.

    While Jesus may not have had tracts he did have the word of God from what we now call the Old Testament and at one point and read a passage from it, sat down and said that what is said had been now been fulfilled.

      I respect you bro. I pray that God will open your eyes like he did mine. Sounds pretty weak-minded I'm sure, but there you go. Have a good day! :)

    In the bible it says that women should teach man. Why listen to her?

  • @andrewpratten

    some judgemental comments here... I have personally met such a person who had a similar experience, only his story was way more extreme... the tract unlocks a long locked up desire inside... and he, like so many atheists, are that way due to some chip on the shoulder from a past experience. Just angry at the idea of "God". Atheists typically are not the level and balanced thinkers they make themselves out to be; that's just deception. Otherwise they would have to throw out evolution... and other hypothetical notions which can't be proven and for which there is no consistent evidence. Neither are they able to investigate the Bible for fear that they will have to come to terms with themselves and the lie that they live.

      @@boterlettersukkel None of what you said is true and you know it. Romans 1:18-21 tells us why you hide behind the lies.

    This is more than being subtlely manipulative, this is just a flat out lie
