    Today I had the pleasure of being guided down one of the COOLEST trails I have ridden in a while by the locals that ride it regularly.
    The only problem was.... I COULDN'T SEE S#@T!!! The trail we are riding today is Black Canyon, and we rode on a particularly dry and dusty day towards the end of the season, which meant the trail was sufficiently sketchy with rutted trail and clapped out berms.
    Did we let this stop us? NO WAY!!
    Towards the bottom of the trail the dust turns to dirt as we enter what felt like Endor forest and I was on a speeder bike blazing through it. There is actually a section referred to by the locals as 'STAR WARS NO BRAKES" simply because it is a PRIME slice of track that winds with nothing that warrants braking.... which means you can reach approximately warp speed - just don't get caught off guard by the creek crossings!!
    This ride is an absolute blast with a little bit of everything on it, which in my opinion makes it a perfect example of what I look for when sampling singletrack.
    So strap in and let's go for a SHRED down Black Canyon!!
    LFRHGS

    That looked like so much fun! I got my first case of hand pump this past weekend when I went to Big Bear and did Downhill for the first time! Was geeked out on it the whole weekend! Love your videos and your enthusiasm, it's awesome to see someone else with the same amount of passion for it...I'm just getting started and already have a trail bucket list going! If you ever come through Lake Havasu (Arizona) we've got some fun little trails to ride.

    Hey mr. Sampler Alex man. Everyone knows that your unparalleled knowledge in mountain biking can only be rivaled by your endless will to share it with others. So I have two questions:
    1. How much of your suspension travel do you actually use?
    2. Will a 2x 130mm front and rear 29er be a jack of all trades (going to work through the city, shredding trails and travelling)?

    • @The_Sampler
      @The_Sampler  7 лет назад +1

      I appreciate that Yan :D
      1. all 160 some of the time, but I could definitely get away with 135-150mm
      2. I think those dimensions sound very capable indeed.

    Nice video. Star Wars No Brakes looked fantastic.
    I got my first video recorded. I discovered, though, that my GoPro stopped recording on a couple of segments. I *think* it's because the camera has voice activation, which was on, and misinterpreted some things I said as commands to stop recording. I have since turned off that feature and hopefully I'll not have that problem again. on the plus side, the segments that were not recorded were boring parts of the ride anyway. No big loss (I don't think).
    Alex, when are you going to come to AZ, dude? I think you and I need to meet up, have a drink (not alcohol for me), and go on a ride. Seriously, you should consider southern AZ on your west coast tour.

    • @The_Sampler
      @The_Sampler  7 лет назад +1

      Man that's a bummer!! But at least you have figured it out now! I'm definitely considering AZ for my winter plans, but I just don't know yet!

    • @Shredder-240
      @Shredder-240 7 лет назад +1

      I'm in AZ too, would definitely like to see Alex out this way!

    • @BrianSchade2016
      @BrianSchade2016 7 лет назад

      If you make it here in the winter, you definitely want to make southern AZ your destination. Northern AZ is like most of the rest of the country and actually has seasons. It gets way cold up there. Southern AZ stays pretty warm all the way into December.
      As for the glitch in recording, the way I look at it is that this is my inaugural video. Like SpaceX on their first few launches, I'm not going to land the first few perfectly. It's all good and I'm sure I'll get better over time. I've got the fun parts down, for sure. It was the ascent up the trail that got missed, and that's not really all that fun to watch anyway. Most of it would have probably been edited out.
