When I was about 10 yrs old, my mother taught me how to take care of my nails and cuticles. She had the most beautiful hands and nails. Every Sunday evening, she would do my nails and then do her own. She did a lot of typing on a manual typewriter, but you would never have known it. Her nails always were perfection. As I got older, I did my own nails, sometimes together with my mom. When she became too frail and shaky, I took over her weekly manicure. When she passed away, I made sure her hands looked beautiful. I knew it was what she would want.
🥺🫶🏻 this is the absolute sweetest memory to share, thank you so much!! And I am so so sorry for your loss 💗 I love that you continued to honor her and take care of her. I am sure she really appreciated you and your kind heart!
I've used a glass file for years prior to using Bona Fide brand. Got my Bona Fide file in 2019 and it's been in my purse ever since. Hands down best file especially for a beginner nail enthusiast. ❤❤ Need to get another to leave with my nail kit at home, so I don't risk leaving it at home.
Considering getting this cos as much as I love my dip powder colours the acetone removal is wreaking havoc on my nails!! 🤦♀️ Question though if you’re doing a thin line down the middle/dot in the centre, how much do you need to file off at the sides, as I think all the filing hasn’t helped my nails either? Is there anything left on the nail if you do it this way too?
My daughter in law has a glass file and loves it. I am going to have to get one. This was a great video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I love the color dip you used.
This is awesome because acetone is one of the few chemicals that soak right thru our skin and into our bloodstream. So, I have hesitated to get into gels or dips because I don't want to soak in 100% acetone for 10-20 minutes. But if I can pop it off.... Even better! Thanks so much!
I used to buy the cheapy nail files thinking a nail file was a nail file. They used to be all fairly good (by my novice standards). Then the quality started to go downhill. I could only get one filing session from each file. They were also so hard and scratchy. I spotted a glass nail file on Amazon. Wow. The longevity was what attracted me. I bought them (one large, one small), in October 2021. The larger one is just starting to show signs of wear and I use them quite a few times a week (every time I feel a rough bit on my nail). The cuticle pusher intrigues me. I'll have to go find that as well.
I feel like I could have written this myself! I wholeheartedly agree and experienced the same thing 🫶🏻 it’s amazing how much longer the glass lasts and how effective they are.
I saw some peel vase reviews saying they did one strip in the center of the nails to have the manicure last a week versus the one to three days so acetone was not needed for removal. Have you tried that or any other ideas for easier removal vs acetone?
I’m super hesitant on not applying peel base to the whole nail because it “could” be removing layers of the nail with pop off. I’ve tried it and noticed the sidewalls of my nails began peeling so i discontinued. But I absolutely see the appeal!
Do you have tips on protecting clear dip powder underneath peel base, especially during removal (if they don't come off easily on their own, that is)? And do you cap off the free edge with peel base? I assume you wouldn't want to cap off the free edge with top coat when you're completely finished dipping as to not seal it together with your clear dip? Thanks!!
@@maceewichman8892 just from my experience, since I posted that, I’ve tried it and it works! I did a few layers of a sheer pink dip (built an apex too) and then used peel base on top. When I was ready to pop them off, I just filed lightly around the edges and popped them off. Worked great. Only tip would be to not wait much longer than 7-10 mins to let your peel base dry because it will start to peel off before applying your color!
I’d like to know what peel base you recommend for my application. Here’s my application and want I want peel off base for… I put on my Gel Tips. I don’t want to remove Gel Tips every other day or two but I do want to change up what I put on the top of my gel chips, every other day or so. After applying my gel, tips, or tips of choice, I want to add product to the top of my tips like either dip powder or gel polish or whatever I choose to finish off The top of my nails. Whatever I put on the top of my fake nail tips I want to be able to remove easily, so therefore I’m looking for some type of peel off base so I can remove either polish dip powder or acrylic whatever I put on Top of my nail tips. So my question to you is what is the best product for doing this application and how well does it work for removing everything on top of my fake nail??? UNT, Works really good but it doesn’t seem to stay on top of my fake nail ,even one day! 🙏 Thank you in advance😊
I like to do press ons. I apply them with dip base, but do not like soaking them off. Would it work to put peel base on my natural nail, leaving the outer edges without peel base, and then apply my press ons with dips base?
What if I have anxiety and love to pick? Is this base something I can use to protect my nail and still get to peel off my nail polish for anxiety relief?
This could a good alternative so you’re not damaging your natural nails with picking them off. Only downfall would be that peel base doesn’t last very long sometimes so it may lift quickly and cause you to want to pick them off which would leave your natural nails unprotected. It’s sort of a double edged sword. But ultimately, if you prepped your manicure to last and skipped peel base, and then picked them off that would remove layers of the natural nail. So in this case, safely popping them off with peel base may work better for you 🫶🏻💖 sending you love!
I just bought that glass cuticle pusher the other week and I’m loving it!!!! Do you have any thoughts on the mani boss peel base? I have that one but haven’t played around enough to make it work for me…
Yayyy!! So happy you’re loving it girlfriend! 💕 I have used the mani boss peel base and really enjoyed it! It lasts longer than the Virgo and gem and UNT… but 😭 it started peeling my natural nails so I had to stop. I noticed another brand that lasted longer also had the same effect on my natural nails. BUT if you used it on builder gel, clear dip powder or extensions it would be great because it’ll last longer and not damage your natural nails.
Love this video! Have you ever had a problem with the peel vase taking off your natural nail? I’m so afraid to use it in my natural nail. I’ve read about putting a nail hardener first then the peel base. What do you think?
I totally understand your concerns 🫶🏻 I find that the Virgo and Gem’s peel base and UNT peel base are really gentle and do not take off layers of my natural nails. I have tried a few other brands in the past and did notice it was damaging my natural nails so not all peel bases are created equal. I haven’t personally tried a nail strengthener so I can’t share any experiences on that 🫶🏻

Thank you so much! 🫶🏻
Peel base is great but...i would like my dip nail to last at least 2wls
Totally understand 🫶🏻 I hope one day a company will create a peel base that lasts longer 💕
@@SipAndDip can you do base dip powder then activator then base , dip powder and activator?
Me: struggles to grow nails even to a medium length
Ms. Dip n sip: files - grinds - her long nails down
Me: no!
Also me: has baby/tiny glass cuticle pusher
Ms dip n sip: has one glass cuticle pusher to rule them all!
