- Brian Sanders, Dennis Sanders and the crew from Ione California brought the mighty Dreadnought back for another year of racing, the family has owned and raced her since her inception in 1983. The planes is powered by the largest-displacement aviation piston engine to be mass-produced in the United States, the Pratt & Whitney R-4360, a 28-cylinder four-row air-cooled radial engine which produces over 4,000 hp.

Always amazed at how quiet these monster engines are. Even a Merlin farting itself to life in the background makes more noise than this beast in full gallop.
Wow...... an engine with a airplane built around it!
Seriously!!! She sounds so good at full power
"Steady as she goes",👍🏿
The the sound of the Sea Fury.
The sound of a sea fury if it were built in America 😂
@@drpork1360 The sound of the Sea Fury if the answer to the question of "How do we get more power?" were to always just stick in more pistons...
Magnifique 🤩
Beautiful aircraft! I would have loved working on these Reno racers instead of my career in corporate jets!
Of the 10 produced in Late 1945, I know some crashed and at least 3 were raced, but what about now in 2024 ?
I should have mentioned F4U Corsairs built in the USA with USA made Engines. Happy New Year ! DCS Essex Class Carrier and F4U Corsair from ED soon !
The engine is out and probably just getting torn apart. It should be done in plenty of time, but that all depends on if the can find a new venue
What is the max speed?
Not sure, but if I remember right it averages 444 MPH around that course all day long.
Around 460, on a good day.
Wish i could go back to this era. No forced vaccinations and shawdow bans by big tech.
TRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMP
