  • American and U.K. forces struck Houthi targets again following a series of attacks against commercial shipping and U.S. Navy warships in recent days. This time the strikes targeted underground storage facilities, which was most likely done with Super Hornets dropping GBU-24 "bunker busters."

By the way, this is not at all surprising to me. I served with many of your fellow airmen as an "AW", on Sea King helicopters. I served aboard 5 US carriers during my Navy career. I remember how myself and my crews felt safe knowing F-14's were in the air overhead, providing CAP for missions I was involved with. I will never forget the surge of pride I felt when Tomcat and other fixed wing crews thanked me and my fellow aircrew for our role as ASW and SAR crew. All of us together were such an awesome team of aviation professionals doing our duty, protecting each other. All of us, aircrew and ship crew alike, helped each other come home safe to our families after every deployment. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your part!! The Tomahawk is a crazy missile. Few understand how capable it is and what it will be able to do in the future. Considering already it can hit mobile targets, has a timed fuse so it can detonate in the air above a target for maximum fragmentation against soft target, detonate on impact against hard targets, or detonate after penetration for use against softer buildings and ships. It also has a combination penetrator and fragmentation round. It can also use passive radar to locate radar system and other targets and be changed mid flight to hit a new target. Now they are looking to add a ramjet so it can go as fast as Mach 3. They are also adding a camera that can send back pictures while it loiters so analysts can review the photos and see if they can find a specific target. Since it has over 1000 miles of range it is likely it could loiter for a long time. They are also looking to turn unused fuel into an extra air fuel explosive increasing its damage capabilities.
What could they do next. About all that is left is you redesign the shape and give it a stealth coating to make it harder to detect. This thing is mighty. No country has anything even close to the Tomahawk. Many say they do, but they do not. Most of this technology also will likely go into the JASSM, which is basically an air launched version. In fact I would really like it if the two could be merged so they would share most components to reduce costs. Between this and the Long Range JDAMS, the AIM-260, the SDB2, the US has some pretty powerful tools. They have a few nasties like the Peregrine coming down the line soon and likely not too much after that we might see pods with lasers to take out incoming missiles.
I want to see a large laser system that fills one of the 3 bomb bays in the B-21 that holds a 300-500KW laser they can use for not only taking out incoming missiles, but also likely incoming jets. The ranges should be enough that they could hit ground targets too. Think of what 10 B-21 with these systems and say 16 2000 pound LR JDAM each could do to a country. That is 160 bombs that can be individually programmed to hit any target within about 75 miles of the path of the B-21s and lasers with a 10 mile range that can hit the ground from altitude with near unlimited ammo. They could hit fuel depots, radars, SAM sights, and even aircraft and tanks on the ground if they wanted. They could even target infantry if not for the Geneva Convention BS. Regardless that is 160 ammo and command bunkers hit and literally thousands of other targets for the lasers. They don't even need to worry about stealth. Heck even a B-52 could fly over Russia all day long and they could do nothing right now.
Even if it takes 10 seconds to disable or destroy a target and 5 seconds to aim at another... that is 4 targets a minute. I would likely shorten their range, but with refueling before they enter their airspace this should not be an issue. Say they come across a fuel depot with 50 large tankers. Put a 2 foot slash with a laser on the side of each tank as it flies over and now you have no fuel depot left. They likely could target vulnerable spots on vehicles pretty easy. Maybe they would have to fly a little lower like 20K feet to be accurate enough to hit fuel tanks, munitions, and sensitive electronics. They could take out mobile ICBM launchers easy too. Similar ideas could protect ground forces and bases or naval fleets or even intercept ICBMs in space. They could likely hit satellites if they wanted.

@@Yono-vf4xz Because it is the radar, guidance, and control systems that are so expensive. You also need something with enough range and speed. Those missiles would be unguided if they were cheaper and would have basically ZERO chance of hitting.

Egypt must be losing revenue generated by traffic through the Suez Canal yet it seems absent from counter measures.

"Illegal Activities" in a place with no rule of law? Going to call BS on that. How about: "Enemies of all mankind?"

Notice how they never fail to label the Houthi's as "Iranian backed" at every opportunity. 😅 Stop in the middle of what youre saying a couple times to remind us. I think they should be henceforth officially called the Iranian Backed Houthi Militia IBHM or maybe IBHTM for Terror Militia.
