Dud this movie was great! Seeing Mike sitting at his office job with with tears rolling down his face was pure gold. Absolutely found this movie hilarious 🤣🤣
Giving the movie a twenty-something percent rating is ridiculously low. But to be fair, it's no masterpiece. The acting isn't great, the story-writing isn't either and idem for the camerawork and montage. I'd give it something more in between high 50% and 70%. I guess there indeed is some kind of personal vendeta from the critics, although you could say the opposite from the "normie-reviews". They seem to have either given it high scores out of being a fan (not really objective), or out of a counter to the critics low score.
I watched the Noel Miller special because you mention it at the end. Never seen the guy before but was aware he was a RUclipsr of some sorts. His special is unbelievably funny! Just incredible. He is very talented as a stand up. Thanks for bringing attention to it.
This movie was absolutely bone chilling and creepy. Did we all see the same movie? at the end, Burr learns his lesson to STFU, obey his wife, not speak out against rude strangers and instead mumble curse words to himself under his breath while his witch of a villain wife looks on pleased. She was the real villain. come on
Yeah, anyone that goes by critic scores probably doesn't enjoy watching movies. There's a ton of good movies that the critics have crapped all over that were beloved by the audiences that saw them.
Same exact thing happened with Kreischer's "The Machine" and Maniscalco's "About My Father". All, I thought were hilarious. In the 80's and 90's we ALL laughed at these jokes...black, white, purple, pink whomever. It brought us all closer together to laugh at ourselves. Our youth needs to learn this. Relax, enjoy and laugh. It's contagious.
Old Dads is a non-PC movie that people were craving for... Disney took over most of Hollywood and release the same shit over and over again It was nice to see something finally authentic with Bill Burr's marks all over it
I honestly don't understand why people still look to the mainstream critics for any kind of perspective. It's been clear for a long time that if a movie, song, or any other piece of art doesn't fit their narrative or agenda, then they will just trash it. It's so clearly biased, yet people still look to them for their perspective. Soooooooo confusing to me.
It's always the audience that's right. if the mass enjoied there time with it, that means they did there jobs right. At this point I don't care what critics say, they're often wrong now a days which is ironic because it's there job to pay attention to what the audience is interested in and help them decide if this is what the mass would like. Update: One of the best movies of this year for sure. It's too accurate to real life, here's and example. My boss says that line almost every day like in the movie where they say "I appreciate you" - like wtf, I work there just so that I can live and work towards my dreams of retirement, not so that I can be appreciated at a low-end job that nobody cares about, and everyone else there think the same. Another think I found fucking hilarious, I used to go to a private school exactly like that private ass school in 9th and 10th grade, and guess what! The school shut down after I left that shit hole. This movie is an 11/10 or this is just a documenery of my life.
For more than 40 years I've disagreed with movie critics. It's simply that their job has zero emphasis on how entertaining a movie is. The public goes to see a movie to laugh out cry or feel some way. It's emotional. We don't want to analyze the cinamatography or lighting or the directors vision. The last few years has added the social justice metric to the critics equation. How many non white non straight actors were cast? Is the crew diverse enough? Were social issues significantly covered? Was the correct political/religious thoughts disparaged enough? Most of the public, even when they care about those things don't go see a movie because of these subjects unless they are sufficiently tied to the plot. But it's what critics love. And these days it seems to be the only thing critics care about. They've thrown out the question of whether it's a good film and only concentrate on wether it's socially conscious enough.
You’ve missed the point of Todd’s comment. He isn’t offended by the profanity. There are plenty of films with swearing. He’s saying that the film is ONLY swearing.
Critics score is calculated by showing the movie to random people and asking them "thumbs up or down". Audience score is calculated with the actual audience, the people who were interested in checking it out. The more niche a movie is, the more the number grows apart by design. Basically critic score is bs.
The thing is, Rotten tomatoes has a weird rating system. That 89% means that 89% gave the movie a 6/10 or better. But does anyone even look at the critics scores?
The audience score is peoples genuine reaction while the rotten tomatoes score is what they want you to think. This movie wasn’t made to cater to the critics at rotten tomatoes, and they hate that. This movie was made to appeal to the people.
Rotten tomatoes had for a long time been the absolute worst aggregate. Rotten in the name is pure irony. Not just applicable to this, but there is a clear disparity between art hating "critics" and the actual real audience.

I didn’t like how his Wife was wrong about the Lady raising money and Bill Burr had to go back to his Wife crying, yea I get she wanted him to control his Anger but his Wife wanted Bill to be on his Knees to the Lady so their Kid could get into that School but at the same time she couldn’t control her Anger against a lady that didn’t know how to raise her kid right
You’re entitlement with the “only chuckled once” is oozing 🤮
@@THEOAKLANDBABY510 I don't think you understand the definition of entitlement.
why is that? I just made a joke aimed at your privileged colors showing is all .@@ASMRandrealubana
We now know that critic reviews can be purchased on Rotten Tomatoes.
it's OK. lot of obvious shit though. if you're in the mood to laugh, you prolly will.
Dud this movie was great! Seeing Mike sitting at his office job with with tears rolling down his face was pure gold. Absolutely found this movie hilarious 🤣🤣
If it breaks the woke mind , I'm all for it .
Decent watch I enjoyed it .
Keep going Bill
i forgot this movie came out until reminded me
decided to put it on and it was fine. had it on while playing runescape
liked it
Giving the movie a twenty-something percent rating is ridiculously low.
The "twenty-something percentage" isn't a rating. It's the percentage of people who gave it a positive review.
"Even Lenny Bruce might be twitching in his grave over this one"
That critic is spot on. We all know how much of a Puritan Lenny Bruce was.
Wanted to thank you for plugging Louis Katz's special. Probably wouldn't have known about it otherwise but it's the best special I've seen all year
As soon as I saw that The Guardian had voted this movie 1 star, I knew it was worth watching on Netflix.
I wasn't disappointed.
Def be watching. Burr is hilarious. Wish his role in BB was bigger.
I just watched old dads and I loved it!!❤ I watch a “COMEDY” to laugh not get mad at every other word they say or get politely correct.
Critics will always hate, and audiences will always love Ol’ Billy 😎
Critics will tell you an hour of b roll footage in a house with a kid that sometimes walks around is a masterpiece in suspense
Movie critics are about as useful as a Walmart greeter
I watched the Noel Miller special because you mention it at the end. Never seen the guy before but was aware he was a RUclipsr of some sorts. His special is unbelievably funny! Just incredible. He is very talented as a stand up. Thanks for bringing attention to it.
1:00 more than scarface which was 128 and how blink 128 got their name 😅❤😂
This movie was absolutely bone chilling and creepy. Did we all see the same movie? at the end, Burr learns his lesson to STFU, obey his wife, not speak out against rude strangers and instead mumble curse words to himself under his breath while his witch of a villain wife looks on pleased. She was the real villain. come on
It wasnt a masterpiece but it was a breath of fresh air. It was funny and had a basic story. Something i cant say for a lot of movies now.
Those scores tell you the entire story. Comedy film genre has been a desert and this film is an oasis.
I'm subscribed to everything Bill Burr, and yet this is the first I'm hearing about his new movie? Dafuq? Thanks for this video!
Was hoping for a Bill Burr comedy, instead it was just another Netflix comedy
If "professional" reviewers dislike something, it is (often) a mark of excellency on its own.
As soon as i see the name Bill Bur, its a must watch for me.
A rule for movie selection, always opt for a movie highly rated by audience rather than the critic and mostly opposite for songs.
Whenever the critics' panties are in a twist, means you've got something special.
So nice of Tom and Christina to make you put pictures of them up behind you!!!
Rotten Tomatoes is not a review site. Rotten Tomatoes is a marketing wing of the industry.
I just watched this RUclips video and boy are my arms tired
Old Dads is a non-PC movie that people were craving for... Disney took over most of Hollywood and release the same shit over and over again
It was nice to see something finally authentic with Bill Burr's marks all over it
What was non pc about it?
All they did was tease PC people
Dude this channel is just getting better, and is going to keep growing.
this happens fairly often though, critics will have the opposite score of most of the audience. they like some movies that audiences despise
Audience.
Always.
I will check out 3 movie critics of my choosing.
As a dad this movie hit it on the nail
Haven't seen it but this movie just might make me start liking Bill again.
Everyone knows the true rating for a comedy is the rotten tomatoes audience score MINUS the critics score is the true score.
The audience ratings are infinitely more valuable than the critics. Always been that way.
Love Bill Burr, watched it with my girlfriend who's not a fan/doesn't really know him and she said it was the funniest film she's seen in ages😂😂😂
Rotten tomatos is just the dorect comparison between what people are supposed to think VS what they actually think
No way critics are saying this is vulgar compared to the shit thats been coming out the past few years
It offered more than what most movies offer these days. I enjoyed it and we need more of this.
those scores are the indicators of a great comedy. I enjoyed it very much
Sounds like he nailed it with his fans. And made the industry mad at the same time lol atta boy bill!
I loved it, very relevant! Well done Bill and crew
Everytime negative comments: PC Bullshit
Everytime positive comments: Fucking hilarious movie.
Definitely gotta watch now
The thing is, Rotten tomatoes has a weird rating system. That 89% means that 89% gave the movie a 6/10 or better. But does anyone even look at the critics scores?
It's alright. It's basically a Bill Burr set visualized. If you liked ol Billy road rage driving around LA you'll like the movie.
The audience score is peoples genuine reaction while the rotten tomatoes score is what they want you to think. This movie wasn’t made to cater to the critics at rotten tomatoes, and they hate that. This movie was made to appeal to the people.
Imagine taking anything rotten tomatoes says seriously in 2023. It's the movie version of the source magazine
Rotten tomatoes had for a long time been the absolute worst aggregate. Rotten in the name is pure irony. Not just applicable to this, but there is a clear disparity between art hating "critics" and the actual real audience.
This movie is why I still pay my Netflix bill this month
By the way, Louis Kats' special is actually called "Present Tense."
