  • In this video, I'll give you a tour our vegetable garden in June 2022 on our small homestead. We have a combination of raised beds and in-ground gardens. We grow both heirloom and hybrid vegetable varieties, most of which we start from seed.
We are located in Virginia, zone 7a. We follow organic practices and try to garden as sustainably as possible.

Getting to like dill.... That's one thing about growing for food. It's often said "Grow what you eat".
I think it should be said, "Grow what you think you will eat. Then experiment with things new to your diet."
My understanding is that the potatoes will continue to grow as long as the plants are alive. It may be different in long growing season areas.

The berries on your asparagus plants mean those/it’s, a female plant. You have roots you don’t need the berries. Male plants are more prolific.

This video is beautiful. You have a gift, not just in the garden but the video itself was really nice content! Thank you for sharing. Your leeks are beautiful. I’ve tried to grow them but have had no success. Happy gardening!!

Did you add nitrogen to your potatoes? They are heavy nitrogen feeders

Such a lovely garden tour! I wonder if your potatoes in pots suffered from all the rain you had??? Potatoes need to flower in order to produce tubers and too much water could cause them to yellow before flowering.
Are you planning to let your cilantro go to seed? You can let the seeds dry on the plant then save them to use in cooking-it’s coriander.
Like you, I’m more excited for cucumbers than I am tomatoes :) Our garden is about a month behind yours.

I've never heard that about potatoes, but that could definitely be it! I don't think I saw many, if any, of them flowering. Thanks for the insight :)
I might leave the cilantro to get coriander, but it depends on if I am patient enough or if I decide I want to plant something else in the space haha
