With more than 5000 subscribers, and more than a half videos re-uploaded, the channel its on the way to the full reincarnation. For those who joined without knowing this, the channel was once alive, and it was taken due to a full accusation. But now, with the support of people, talking about their feelings about this music, and discussing about it, the channel is once again, alive. I can even say, more than ever. So before I go into further description about this song, I want to thank everyone from the deepest of my heart. To those who support me, to those who insisted me about keeping this task, and to KakashiMr and Moomaria who were always there to help.
Takase, leader of the metal progressive circle, Magnus Opus, puts ourselves in quite of a dilmma once again. His circle is called Magnus Opus, but it seems that every album he crafts builds in an exponential way, whether its the sound production, the musical content, the recording of the guitar.
It just wasn't enough with his past PC-98 album, or at least I was beginning for more. There can be an over production of "U.N Owen was her?" or from "Necrofantasia", but no matter how many there are, there will be never an over production on PC-98 music series.
Reincarnation seems to be quite an anthem when it comes to Touhou PC-98 music. Part is because Mima is one of the favorie characters among Touhou fans, and everybody is awaiting anxiously for her return. However, I must accept Reincarnation incorporates many of the elements that define PC-98 music. While it is far from my favorite PC-98 selection, is one song that I still listen, and it really drunks me with nostalgia of retro gaming. When there were no fancy cutscenes or and orchestra to record a soundtrack. Where there was no smokes and mirrors on the video game industry. No third dimensions, no motion controllers. When 8, 16 and 24 bits, where enough to capture the a whole beautiful environment.
Takase delivers once again, this time with a superb guitar quality. Many of us still were wondering what was the magic behind his sound, and that if his guitars were real or not. But this album, allow us to understand the love and the patience Takase has to build his songs. Wonderful music, inspired by metal progressive groups like Dream Theater or Symphony X.
It's not lie that Takase has made one of my dreams come true. Many people seems to be upset about the idea that he does "copyright infringements" about many groups. Yeah, it is true, Takase fusions metal progressive music with Touhou music, and it is sure one of the things it has been herd on my head and dreams, but never actually quite herd it, and shared it until I discovered his excellent work.
By the way, I have been notified by KakashiMr that Takase has 3 live shows booked!
First was CROW'SCLAW, then Unlucky Morpheous, and now Magnus Opus playing live.
I really hope we can see at least a clip of his magic, being done in real time.
It has been a pleasure to share this music to all of you.
Blame me of huge drama, but I still can't deny all of this would be impossible without all your support. Thanks again for everything, and thanks for watching.

This album definitely reminded me of modern Symphony X, especially the opening keyboard solo in the 2nd song (Hakurei). Definitely a must have album. Always welcome to see metal Reincarnation here!

yeaaa about that.. you do realize that Zun is TERIBLE in story writing?... he cant do most chars justice, thats why Touhou is an OPEN SOURCE thing. And an agreed uppon extended lore even exist for ALL chars. Best Read about in Gensou Shoujou Taisen, wich is the most accurate game to date in terms of LORE and CHARS.

apparently the whole album got inspired by the following prog metal band : Seventh Wonder / Spheric Universe Experience and Redemption ( fucking amazing band)
It is a theme of a game, the original theme is melodic. This progressive metal adaptation make that the melodic original theme sound like a power metal theme.
PD: The game is anime type. That's the reason beacause sound like anime music

I haven't played this game and this is still my favorite song from Touhou

I got whole album... and the whole album is GREAT!
I like it but it sounds more like progressive power metal than just progressive metal, is like anime music, still is the best metal I've heard from some japanese guys (they usually do over-used power metal). The part after the repetitive power metal is freaking epic :D you should try things with less power metal on it for calling it progressive alone

Magnum Opus... I somehow disliked their sound when I first heard of them (was more into the power metal style of other metal arrangement circles then), but I'm beginning to like their progressive metal style. And I used to be bothered about all those copyright issue, but if you look at it another point, it does tell volume of their influences, yeah?
This is a mighty fine metal arrangement of Reincarnation.

Not as progressive as most Takase's stuff, but it does have a lot more drive than his earlier works. Maybe because he finally got to use that guitar of his in a bigger way - he really used to love his synthos.

...In any case, I snooped around on what appears to be Mimikkutan's twitter, and it seems that he's started a new channel (DistantPhantasm), given his "New Upload" statuses and whatnot.
...Though, I am curious; does anyone really know what happened to him/her? I very much liked some of his/her uploads, and many were only available on his channel.
(I downloaded a few songs, but am too lazy to upload them).

this is not progressive, that's neo classical . but still fuckin great .
It can be both, if good portion of the song features non-regular tempos and rythms, it still does classify as progressive. This one is just not as extreme in that respect as, say, Animals As Leaders.
