And we will be high.And the love generator will be turned up to its maximum. And we'll get higher when, at last, the sun comes up in the morning and we will collapse under the weight of the ancient earth and it will be inside me and it will be inside you..and it will be the end of the world and the beginning of a new love...

(I ran home and wrote this)"Do you realize happiness makes you cry ?" Last night was not only the best show I have ever been to, but one of the most fantastical experiences i've had in my 26 short years. From my discovery of the band "A place to bury strangers" and their depraved moody psychedelia splashed atop strobing industrial like rhythms, to the Flaming lips rainbow and mushroom extravaganza which was sprinkled with confetti glitter and breathing lights. It was money well spent. What a powerful set. I feel alive, it's no secret wayne and the lips are master showmen, yet they never seem to one up themselves, They played a very diverse batch of jams that spanned albums "the soft bulletin" to their latest release "oczy mlody" and used many classic "flaming lip tricks." from a venue full of confetti and balloons to Wayne using a handheld flash light to acknowledge and connect with us up In the balcony and discount seats. Even though The flaming lips have been preforming together since the 1980's, the age diversity of the balcony crowd totally surprised me. Yet even the couple who was at least 70 years young stood up and swayed when Wayne got in his inflatable bubble so he could hamster over the pit while singing The late and great David Bowie classic "space odyessy." I personally exploded into an ecstatic trance during "A spoonful weighs a ton" What a experience. Towards the climax of the show, Wayne pantomimed the most giant and sincere hug towards the entire crowd, Although there was at least 2000 people there I know I felt the gesture on a personal level. As the music chimed to its conclusion wayne simply sang the word "Love" using what seemed to be a tape delay machine, the house lights came to a dim and wayne doted appreciation upon us, his crowd, his agents of absurdity and love. He then walked off stage.... the word droned on for what seemed to be at least 3 minutes ( it indeed felt like a eternity) while the word flashed across the entire length of the stage I was shattered with joy and existential pride. LOVE this simple yet essential message LOVE. so important in the second leg of this decade LoVE ! as it Droned on like some sort of zaireeka mk ultra. I gripped on the one I love the most( Clancy ) and imagined my children and family, that's when the tears started replacing the sweat on my face. Suddenly total darkness, as the crowd erupted I sat down taking it all in. Forgetting the rock tradition of the "encore" in the darkness a pair of glowing angel wings appeared, It was wayne he had a question."do you realize?" Happiness makes you sad? I didn't think I could actually become more hysterical. i can't tell you the bliss and pride one feels after being apart of such a moment, I use to feel ahead of my time and cringe in sorrow that due to my age I'd never get to see kurt Cobain smash his guitar, or the pig on the wing fly over Birmingham england as Floyd wailed away. Nor smell gas and burning guitar while hendrix summoned distorted feedback spirits. But even as a demented 90 year old man locked in a psych ward i'll remember 11:48 pm march 8th 2017 when The flaming lips blew my mind.
Markecis Jordan i did realize it so long ago when I was about your age or younger... 😌😎. And I believe you had such an amazing experience at a FL concert. Unicorns with the purple eyes then are really super 😍
You've just reminded me of how I felt almost every time I saw them perform. Once, Wayne walked over me it was weird and exquisite. Many times I ended up in tears of pure joy, submerged by everything, the entire audience was mad and there was this unique communion I never felt with other bands.
I JUST saw them this week in 2023 and in my 51 years, NEVER HAVE I BEEN TO SOMETHING LIKE THIS!!!
I have done a lot of shows, I mean A LOT, and nothing like this.. feeling like I conquered depression in one night... March 1st, 2023 in Vancouver, BC, Canada will be with me forever
so cool seeing this in person last night, plus Wayne high-fived me while he was riding the unicorn! Best concert I’ve ever experienced!!

They were AWESOME IN ATLANTA!!! One of the best concert experiences I have ever had. GO SEE THEM!!!!
One of the few concert experiences that can get me to leave the hidey-hole. It’s more than a show. It’s like a circus except fun. It’s whimsical and awe-inspiring and celebratory and communal. (The) Flaming Lips are what is right about humanity. I’m so happy I’ve had a life filled with their artistry, and happy my older cousin was a weirdo who would play me stuff like this as a wee baby.

I saw them play this song in Providence a few nights ago and in no way can watching it on youtube do it justice. It was a great show but very hellish. I never heard the song before and did some research, yeah Terror is the appropriate name for an album with this on it. If there is a hell, this is the song you hear at the entrance in this live context.
