Rock Hudson and George Peppard star in this explosive hard-hitting World War II epic. Based on a true incident, this exciting drama follows a convoy of British and German-Jewish commandos as they cross 800 miles of the Libyan desert to blow up a key Nazi fortress at Tobruk, which is guarded by General Rommel’s crack troops. Excelente producción cinematográfica. "TOBRUK" con grandes y recordados actores cómo George Peppard y Rock Hudson. Es una de mis favoritas.🎥🎬🎞️👏👏👏👏

Has anyone else noticed that the tanks used are M41 Walker Bulldogs which were used/were in service after WW2? A bit unfortunate but still pretty good!
And M48 Pattons. Peppard setting them ablaze with a flamethrower remains a fantastic moment in action cinema!
Biggest problem is the rats of Tobruk were Australian. This film is entirely inaccurate

Nice to see that somebody went back and restored the original Techniscope negative. The versions you usually see of this on TV are typically pretty grainy, panned & scanned, and washed out. Not to mention that all of the "Tobruk' footage they copped to make the Richard Burton saga "Raid on Rommel" is printed one more generation down from that.

Typical buffoonish hollywood movie: operation agreement was an italian victory over the british, in this film is reverted in an american victory over the germans. And the people who answere me : “it’s just a entertainment movie, not a documentary” , i tell to them: It’s like a movie would depict the battle of midway as a german Fleet victory over british fleet. :-)))

Holy Moly's - - the worst WWII movie ever made - if you know anything at all about WWII - you know the Italians in N. Africa in '40/41' did not drive M47 / M48 Patton tanks - or the Germans - and Rock Hudson doesn't speak Arabic, or George Peppard speak Italian ... Absolutely PATHETIC !!! You can even always tell what was shot on Sound stages ... all the ending fires - well, gas was about 20 cents a gallon ...
I'm sure they had an entire collection of genuine 1941-era Italian tanks on hand when they made the film but decided not to use them. I mean do you go see a play at the theatre and get angry because the scenery in the background is just painted canvas?
Its a well made Hollywood Movie for Action Entertainment, no Documentation.
Such venom for this particular film. Perhaps there is another reason for this phenomenon? Whether actual history or not, I like it, and the spirit infused within it.
Pierre DeCine - peppard speaks german to the 1 italian officer in a group of italian soldiers - i always thought that we the audience could assume that italian officers (from the tyrol) spoke german or learnt it to assist with joint operations in ww2 (though yes it is better in von ryan's express where 1 of the pursuing german officers always speaks the relevant language to his relevant ally and he is the key to co-operation in the chase - again presumably he is from the tirol region).
