When police won’t respond to a burglary or street robbery but respond to things posted on social media it says it all really, therefore if something happens I won’t bother with the police I’ll take the law into my own hands and deal with things how I see fit and I’m perfectly fine with dealing with whatever consequences

It varies a bit across the country, my local police force is quite good, but some of them need to be in special measures.

The irony is even if the police did double their arrest and charge rate there's nowhere to put them all.

My family NEVER call the police. I never understood why until i got older and realised that police aren't there to help you.

Half a billion pounds, where is that cash coming from, as a retired Police Officer, 1971 to 2001, the rot set in years ago, around 1986, the Met ( some clownish senior officer) decided that officers who had served at a station for more than 10 years, had to be moved elsewhere. So all that knowledge of an area, its villains, its geography, its nature and who did what to whom, was lost, then interchange, where experienced CID officers were moved to uniform and vice versa. All that expertise was lost. When the Met Police were a force, it dealt with everything, lost and found property, keyholders, missing persons, traffic accidents, the list was endless. A police station in every town. It was refuge, now sadly long gone. Home Beats, where officers knew their patch, all long gone. 43 Police forces, all doing their own thing. Procurement, some years ago a major car company offered to build a purpose built police car, but the Met said No., so they managed on a range of sub standard vehicles. Whoever, over the years, these idiots were, who made these decisions , they were not Police Officers. So finally it is no surprise to me that the "Police Service" is in a huge mess, as is the judicial system . Will it change with this injection of cash, not a chance

Here we go again, Ministers with no common sense taking a strategic view only. Policing will only change if we have more officers in the profession. Right now, we have too many leaving, a Justice System in chaos, poor sentencing, the Police trying to please everybody, laws, rules and regs tying their hands behind their backs, when criminals don't play to any rules. The whole system is weighted against the Police by the 'woke' agenda, DEI, bureaucracy, complex laws poorly worded that do not help Policing, complex file preparation requirements, CPS not fit for purpose, the Courts permitting far too many adjournments, taking cases over a year to trial, yet the police get the blame for those failings.

You cannot blame the Labour party for the present pitiful state of our police as they have just taken office but they also cannot deny that there needs to be a radical shake up and the force needs to return to doing what it is supposed to and that is fight crime with a lot lot less political interference.
They also simply cannot deny that there is a 2 tier system in the police and the justice systems and frankly anyone who claims otherwise is an absolute lost cause
