You did it bruh! I think about 20 minutes is a good length. The right amount of time to eat lunch. You might want to consider longer videos for the new channel.
You did it Bruh!! I really liked this one! It's interesting to see how Sonic could have looked like on the NES! The only thing I could criticize is that there are no checkpoints apparently. And a thing I really liked were the bonus stages. It's cool that you get the Chaos Emeralds so easily. For me it's often very frustrating to get the Emeralds in the original games. Mainly because you cannot redo the bonus stages so easy. 9:45 and to answer your question: I like it when the videos are longer. I don't mind a 30+ or even 40+ minute long video. I just don't like it when the videos are too short (about only 10 minutes). When they are at least 15 minutes I'm fine😄
This is super interesting cause it proves that the nes was well capable of handling a decent version of Sonic, i seriously wonder what people would have thought if they had done this back in the day, it easily would have gone down as one of the best nes games of all time, really cool stuff Darby, would totally love to see more of this.
Fun fact: Apparently on the original Somari, Hummer/Somari Team (the original developer) had to recreate all of the sound effects and music just by memory. The only time they were able to listen to the sound effects and music was in a phone call.
I’m not sure how this game could be improved even more! Especially considering that this game looks and even runs better than other “actually licensed” NES games out there but most of all, since this game has the freakin’ blue sphere levels! In my opinion, this may not be licensed, but I consider this the definitive 8 bit Sonic game :D
7:24 these games have the same level lay out. Actually hummer team (creators of Somari) hacked Somari fixing the spike pits, glitches, and improved the controls.
For video length, ideally the length would match the amount of engaging content. I don't mind when a game series is broken up into multiple videos, but I was also just watch one long video as well. I would say for me, there's no real upper limit for length as I don't get to catch much of the lives when they are live, but I go back and watch the recordings after. I don't really like when videos are too short though. 10 minutes is probably on the low side for me, but I wouldn't want to see 8 minutes of content stretched to 10 either.
Well, this was a great remake! Those catterkillers look even more like wigglers. It was satisfying too to see you get all those rings. 🤑 And yeah, the 8-bit remixes of the songs were great too, and the sound effects, like I quite like the sonic 1up sound effect, and it's 8-bit remix was cool too, same goes with the getting a chaos emerald sound effect, although it's interesting that the bonus stage music was completely replaced.
This looks and sounds great! I like that i has lots of nice animated backgrounds going on too. Whoever worked on this hack made really good color choices too. As someone who grew up with the Game Gear titles, this reminds me of that a lot. The bonus levels are a lot like the Game Gear ones except the emeralds weren't there. They were hidden throughout the levels. With improved controls as well you can tell a ton of work went into this. I might have to track this down and play it myself. :D That string cheese intermission with the pups was funny. :D About video length; ~20 mins is fine, but I also have channel I watch that regularly have videos around 45 mins, and some a bit longer. As long as the content is good I don't really care. I really hope this vid does well, because I'd love to see you play the rest of the game. :D You did it bruh!
Corrrctions. 0:46 these graphics are updated version of Somari’s graphics, the basis of them is Somari. 4:50 that was also a glitch from Somari. 7:23 there the exact same levels from Somari. You are just bad at Somari, which in your defense, the controls have a learning curve. 10:28 You can’t really mess up Marble zones music, even Somari had a good version of Marble. 12:18 There’s a hack called Demoraemon I think that is a hack of Somari that has “new” levels, somehow worse too! 14:54 Probebly due to time, Somari levels repeated themselves occasionally. 17:46 It should be 10 hits as they seem to have kept Somari’s boss fights the same. Would love an episode 2.
This was an awesome rom hack of sonic on the nes it was cool 😎 seeing sonic in 8 bit and you did it Bruh all the levels were interesting and incredible and I like long videos because you get to see even more content
Fun fact: theres a Sonic nes creepypasta where a killer named John Walter slaughtered 5 childrens and he possessed Sonic in the game, meanwhile the childrens are using Eggman as their vessel, and they started torturing John for eternity Edit: yes i liked my own comment
NES Sonic! SEGUUUUH! Oh Somari! I have heard of that! I like that dancing Sonic and Tails thing, reminds me of the Superstar Saga dance. Chaos Emerald #1 Gotten! This video is both Showcasing NES Sonic and Trashing Somari . . . and I love it the way he keeps mentioning Somari. That live action section . . . that was amazing. Chaos Emerald #2 Gotten! Boss! Marble zone looks cool! Chaos Emerald #3 Gotten! SO MANY RINGS! Chaos Emerald #4 Gotten! Boss Beaten! YOU DID IT BRUH! This is cool! Part two of this would be awesome!
i love how random this channel can be. who would have expected string cheese having to do with a video about sonic on the NES? I sure didn't. Cool hack by the way. have a nice day.
I would suggest doing longer videos for those that want them and then perhaps highlight reels of them for the kids or people with shorter attention spans or less time? EP'S or LP'S, You do you Darby. If you build it, they will come. 🌈🤘🏻
What's different between this and the Gamegear Sonic games, collecting 100 Rings do NOT reset your held Ring count. I remember playing a Gamegear Sonic game, and once I collected 100 Rings, the game reset my Ring count back to 0, which was what led me to death sometimes. Effectively canceling out the reward for collecting 100 Rings in the first place
You did it bruh. I like string cheese but I don't eat it that much. Did you see that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is getting a Yoshi's Island track and Birdo as a new character with a ton of different colors for her?
So I like all tje videos but my personal preference is longer videos. 30 ish minutes is around the sweet spot. Especially when it's a game you return to with multiple videos like Koopas Revenge.
Now I want some string cheese. There's this cheese store in Lena, WI, Kugel's Cheese mart, who make some really good string cheese. Think I'll order some of their smoked string cheese it's awesome.
Sorry to throw so many different thoughts into one comment. Figured it'd be easier on you to find them. Man, not even Darby had anything nice to say about Somari. That's how you know just how bad it was. This was really cool. I'd love to see a part 2 because I'm reeeaaally curious what Super Sonic looks like in this! I'm totally down to watch you play the Master System games, or even expanding into other classic systems like the various handhelds like Gameboy or Game Gear. IIRC, you haven't played Sonic CD, either. I prefer videos about 30 minutes to an hour, but I also don't usually sit and watch them directly. I like to watch them while also playing video games. I also really love to watch the VODs of livestreams if I miss the original. I thought it was hilarious when you stopped the vid to grab a thing of string cheese. Just a little touch of wholesome chaos that I love about this channel. Also, your dogs are adorable. You did it Bruh!!
This NES-Version of Sonic makes him somehow even more nostalgic. I really like it. I prefer videos around the 20 minutes. But in my freetime, I also watch hour long streams. It depends on how many time I have, and how interessted I am in the content. The music is even in this 8-bit-version absolutely beautiful. Looking forward more episodes of this.
A Classic Shadow game A Classic Shadow game get all the chaos emeralds and go Super Shadow from Sonic and Knuckles push shadow in the game Classic Shadow
Now the underwater mechanics have been improved a bit, although due to the explosive speed that Sonic has, some may take some time to get used to how fast he comes out of the water, in addition, the path of all the acts in the area has also been reduced and a better use of resources has been made there, so that there are fewer enemies, more items and all bubble dispensers, not only work, but do it even better pace, to avoid unfair deaths 😉
This was pretty sweet. Who likes string cheese? Thanks for watching...

String cheese bussing on god

So this is a parallel universe where Console wars didn’t exist!
Or Sega got pushed out of the console-making market a decade earlier. :P
Actually I think this would be a parallel universe where Sega is basically a smaller company that works for Nintendo like the Pokémon company.
No console wars back then, no Sonic at all. Sonic only exists because of Mario
This is super interesting cause it proves that the nes was well capable of handling a decent version of Sonic, i seriously wonder what people would have thought if they had done this back in the day, it easily would have gone down as one of the best nes games of all time, really cool stuff Darby, would totally love to see more of this.

I saw this on stream! It’s really cool and I love how this is literally Sonic on NES! You did it, bruh!
