- Hello Everyone! For those who can't find Tapioca Starch and want to use Cornstarch ,I made an easy way to make Boba / Pearls using Cornstarch . I hope you like this .Thank you very much for watching my videos.
Cornstarch Boba / Pearls
Good for 3~4 Servings
2&1/2 tbsp dark brown sugar / muscovado sugar
80ml water
6 tbsp cornstarch
1/2 tbsp cornstarch for dusting
8 tbsp dark brown sugar / muscovado sugar
200ml water
1/2 tsp cornstarch
Music: Si Senorita -Chris Hauger - Хобби
tips:
1. make sure ALL the brown sugar is dissolved before adding in cornstarch
2. don't wait until it cools to start rolling them into balls
3. make sure the water is boiling when cooking the balls or else the balls will melt into the water
4. as said in the video please stir the balls while in the pot I've made boba many times and once I forgot to stir and I had to scrape it off the bottom
5. ice water bath is so important if not done the balls will all stick together
6. if your pearls aren't super black like the ones from the shops don't worry they use food coloring which is unessacary if they are super light you didnt add enough brown sugar or the sugar isn't strong enough
hope this helps good luck making
@iianaxchan brown sugar is for the sweetness but you can replace for natural sweetness too
hell yeah! yes we have all wondered these things!
Thank you ❤❤
Thank you Maam for sharing how to make tapioca this is the easiest way that I watch on RUclips too much appreciated 👍❤❤❤
I love this you have solved all my life problems
If anyone is having second thoughts I promise you this is the best recipe it was so amazing and chewy and nice you deserve more attention
I highly recommend this method , thank you very much for watching and commenting.
tysm i rly wanted a legit reply just in case.
Mine is literally ooblec
Mine was just lile doe and way mushy but i think i overcooked
My pearls got shrunk up tho 😂
Thank you so much god bless you this was such a life saver I have no tapioca starch where I live and I don't have the accessibility of ordering it online so I really appreciate you Taking your time and showing us this literal life hack.
You're welcome and thank you very much for watching my video.

What did it taste like?
:D
@@troomtroom9557 It taste sweet. It’s also chewy.
Thank you for this recipe!! I didn't have any tapioca flour on hand so I decided to try with cornstarch. I was afraid it would not be chewy, but it was the same, if not MUCH BETTER, than store bought bubble tea boba!
To anyone trying to make this:
- This is amazing, don't be afraid to try it!
- Follow the instructions EXACTLY, step by step
- Be patient at 1:05, it WILL turn into a dough like texture eventually, I promise :)
- I used a mixture of light brown sugar and dark brown sugar. According to the comments, you should be able to get away with granulated sugar, light brown sugar, or dark brown sugar.
Ty i was rlly panicking bc it wasn't turning into dough!
Oh okay. Thanks so much.
thank you so much! i’m going to try and make this today
I can’t wait to try this ❤

Such a great alternative! In my country cornstarch is far more accessible and there's no point in buying a product imported from such a great distance. Thank you very much!
Thank you.
i am still trying to get over how good this turned out.. i used light brown sugar instead of dark but it is literally AMAZING!! now i don’t have to leave my house to go spend ten bucks on boba tea that i can make at home!! tysm for this recipe!!
You're welcome! Thank you for your nice comment and for watching my video.

Did yours take forever to turn into dough
Is it okay if i used hite sugar instead
Can you tell me what is the difference between white sugar and brown sugar in taste please
I like how all the comments are positive in gonna try it for sure
Thank you.
This was AMAZING I've never made boba before and I got it right in one try. Its super easy! Would recommend.
WORD OF ADVICE-
- when you're putting the boba into the ice cold water, keep in only for 30 seconds to 1 min or else it will become too chewy.
- Remember to keep a plastic wrap on the boba dough when you're cutting it, unlike the person making the video, I didn't do it and it turned out too chewy but it was absolutely amazing!!
- The boba dough will take some time to form so don't freak out! I simply didn't stir it for 5-10 seconds and it started to from the dough (I did continuosly stir it after that tho.)
Thank you.
thank you so much! i came into the comment section before the dough is taking forever to form.
Thanks for the tips
THIS IS AMAZING - I hot help from reading comments- I used caster sugar- still worked- tastes like boba and feels and looks like it. Same texture and I put in a tbsp of coco powder for a coco taste
I LOVE THIS
Yes you are right , in this method you can use any sugar you like. Thank you very much.
For real? So it doesn't have to be brown sugar??? Does it also apply to making the syrup too?
I am thankful for finding one without tapioca starch, which is not easy to procure in the continent where i live, i thank this lady for their overwhelming kindness. I hope this is a sucess.
We used light brown sugar instead and it tasted okay, the boba tasted almost like a sweet rice crispy treat flavor and the texture wasn’t the best but its still okay!!!
Mine failed so hard 😭 it wouldn't become dough so my stupid mind decided to try flour to help it and it became really hard and I started panicking cause it wouldn’t come off the pan but thanks to hot water I was able to take it off 😀 my mom woke up right after I got it off so thank the Lord
I MADE ANOTHER ONE A WHILE AGO AND IF WORKED-
Flour? 🤣
Lol you are so silly
Same happened to me i was stirring for abt 20 mins and it was still liquid
mine it became paste like but i think it won't work cause it's like glossy candy LOL

Does it pop in your mouth or is it chewy?
Something went horribly wrong with mine, and my pearls look like chunks of chicken LOOOOL
I guess i didn't add enough water! I will try again, though!
Please text time set your heat to low or to the lowest and patiently stir it until a dough forms. This is very important. Thank you.
@@ovenfreshbychristine Thank you for the reply!! :D
I did! I left it on the lowest heat and stirred it for over an hour... but my oven does end up running a little hotter than most, so maybe that's where things went astray
Around how long does the dough take I’m doing it rn
@@azulanimatesd6165 the person who commented said like an hour which seems a lot to me, I’ve done a si I,at recipe on the micro wake and it took like a minute, but I’m not sure how long u stir for

I tried the recipe and it came out great! i had never tried to cook boba but now i love it !!! thank you so much
I think I cook well considering i make the best of everything but sometimes there are recipes that I am just skeptical about. This recipe is so detailed and well done that i had no issues.
THIS is a life saver I'm alergic to cassava so thank youuu
You can also use arrowroot starch too and potato starch too. I have a video please watch , Thank you.
I used light brown sugar but I turned out AMAZING. I LOVED IT
Thank you.
Omg should I try it?
I also tried this with light brown sugar because it was all I had but I loved it! For anyone wondering, the texture is similar although a bit different to regular boba but its sweet and chewy. Thank you for this recipe! I'll definitely try this again!!
Same bro
can I do it with white sugar?
These turned out really good and taste accurate! I think I boiled mine a bit too long as they didn’t quite have as much chewiness but they are so nice.
Thank you.
I am obsessed. And you only need 3 ingredients!!!
Ok I tried it today. I am not the greatest chef but it actually works. I may or may not got the syrup at the end right but the tutorial is great and I am ready to work my skills to perfection! 🥲✌
Please, the syrup took me 10 minutes to turn into syrup 😭
THANK YOU! Ive been wanting boba but we didn’t have any tapioca so I wasn’t sure until I saw this. I will be making this soon as the comments say it’s a very good recipe.

Thank you so much I have a new respect for when I buy my bag of boba pearls forget it I have no time to do this
I ate the Pearls and syrup by it self and it was ok, but after leaving it in the fridge for two hours and have it with milk, oh my God, it was Soo good, more addicting than chocolate milk.
Thank you, this recipe came so well, but I didn't realize there were 6 of us 😅 so we barely had enough. It was really chewy and yummy ❤. Thank you

Thanks for the help, it came out good I subbed!!!
is there a way i can make a lot of the boba and cook it but store it for later? if so, how should I store it and for how long!
I only recommend the freezing method . Place your peals on a tray and leave it dry on top of your table for 2~3 hours. Then freeze it and transfer to a freezer bag or freezer tupperware. This will last for few months if done properly. I tried using a food saver in freezing and it lasted a year.Thank you very much for watching my video.
Are the pearl get hard after put in to the fridge? I did it with tapioca and rice flour and the pearl is harder after I removed from refrigerator.
Please do not add rice flour , the boba will stay chewy for hours in the fridge. Thank you very much for watching.
OMG thankyou! My birthday is coming and now i know what to make for drink! 🥰
Thank you .
Ok... tried this. I added some molasses. It wasba bit too strong for my taste. So am trying again with just the sugar because i dont have dark sugar. Will edit later and try this taste. 1st one came out wonderful no problem. Just patience in rolling those into balls. Advice: for the dough add some starch on hand and add some on surface before you put the dough on anything to make the balls. It was easier to form that way. Will also try rolling it long and cut. Easier to do. The dough had stuck on my knife so it was more patience to take piece by piece. It was worth it. Happy to find this recipe❤
Thank you!
Hi.. i tried this recipe last night and it was so easy to follow.. 😍😍 and was a success too.. 🥰❤️ loved it so much.. it does help with the craving..
(The only part i didn't like was making those tiny balls.. lol.. takes so much time and patience 😅😅 but it's always almost worth it in the end 🥰❤️)

@Purple_Panda it does taste good yeahh.. but you won't get that chewy texture of tapioca pearls from the ones you make with cornstarch.. that's the only difference.. 🤷🏻♀️ i have tested with both tapioca starch and corn starch too..😁

@@megersandfood5680 how can i help?? 😁
Ya it ended up working in good now thx for responding tho
Damnnnn!! I JUST MADE THEM. AND THEY WERE BOMBBBBB
@LINDA ADRIANO i would recommend it, boba usually are soaked in a brown sugar syrup, but if you want to use ur boba in a green tea or something you could just mix them w honey or sugar! I love brown sugar boba milk tea which requires the brown sugar syrup!
Hey. I actually tried them before and after the syrup. The syrup cooking makes it firm and gives it a chew. Tho i did not make the syrup like so. I added just a tbsp of brown sugar. And then the boba from the cold water. And gave it a boil until the syrup got sticky. Thats it.

This seems legit so far! One thing though, mine didn’t become thick or syrupy like at step 7:24

Thank you very much for commenting and watching my video.
I have had bad experience trying a corn starch boba b4. Im gonna try this. Fingers crossed.
I made them yesterday w white sugar and more cornstarch cuz it wasn't turning into dough and everything worked out fine except when I finished making them they weren't squishy like really boba- im gonna make them again today but im gonna boil them for longer so they become more transparent, I hope it works :)
I can't seem to make the inside of my boba pearls to cook :(
Ok , just make sure there are no lumps before cooking the mixture and please make small pearls . If you add more starch there's a possibility the boba is hard. Thank you for watching my video.
also, try making them smaller. i had the same problem with mine and it's because they're too big!
How long can I store these pearls? Do I store them after I cook them in brown sugar or when they are with cornstarch?
when you have formed them in a dough you can store it in a plastic wrap or a plastic bag....
but i recommend you to keep it for only 5 days or else it will mold
hope this helped
I will try this pearl tomorrow, thank you...
These came out amazing! Thank you!
