I would go as far as saying Tablo is the best lyricist in Korean music. He is an incredibly intelligent guy (Stanford Uni graduate), and coupled with his talent, he’s just incredible
You should check out Tablo, Eric Nam and Gallant - Cave Me In. It’s all in English and the lyricism is amazing.
They used to be on YG until 2018, and theyre the first korean artist that performed at Coachella back on 2016, before Blackpink (2019). Bigbang also on the Coachella first Line-up on 2020 but it got cancelled due to this chaotic pandemic. Epik High will be back on this month by the way!

If anything i would highly recommend their 2006 album Remapping the Human soul. It’s best listened from start to finish. The album is really well sequenced and is honestly still my favourite of theirs. I first listened to it while walking around in my village after dark and now whenever I listen to those tracks I associate them with the warm coloured streetlamps along the road, the chatter of people sitting outside at restaurants, the distant murmur of the highway and the countless cats that seemed to follow me wherever I walked. That album really encompasses a sense of peace that I often don’t have in every day life. So anytime i feel like my thoughts are a mess or I feel lonely or scared I put it on and get reminded of the warmth I felt on that first listen.
I think it’s truly amazing how music is so much more than just a form of entertainment. It is something we use to comfort ourselves, to encourage ourselves, to calm ourselves down, and I think that’s beautiful.

But back to EPIK HIGH, they’re not originally from YG though... they debuted back in 2003 and then left their entertainment company at that time. There was this ridiculous scandal involving Tablo with his education background which eventually the truth prevailed and the neitzens/haters looked like idiots. Tablo went to Stanford University here in the states and majored in English literature, which explains his genius poetic lyrics/wordplay. Anyways, SKOREA or netizens really take education fraud seriously.. so they basically had a field day when it came to Tablo. They literally dragged him and discredited his intelligence and sent death threats to not only his wife and daughter, but his family. So it was super rough and he also lost his father around this time. Tablo was such in a rough part of his life and he was scared even if his name was cleared and his education background was confirmed. But of course he was tainted when it came to netizens and he didn’t want to put himself back out there with EPIK HIGH. However, his wife who’s an actress in YG entertainment talked to CEO Yang. Then Tablo met up with CEO Yang and well TABLO/EPIK HIGH signed with YGE and this was in 2011.
Ohh and the song at the end is “Love Story” ft. IU. YES QUEEN IU.

Damn you've come to the legends itself. Epik High is known as one of the most poetic artists with their songs and interpretation. They also have collaborated with some powerful artists. There’s so much to say about Epik High (I mean they been around since 2003) and I really encourage you to look deeper into them as artists. And dive into their entire discography.
If you’re into reading and books, Tablo (Epik High’s leader) wrote a book in english called Pieces of You. A masterpiece in my eyes.
I eureka moment this song after hearing Lee Hi and Epik High Moon Lover's OST. Well for two weeks now, it is still at no. 1 spot in my playlist...going to work and returning home. Epik discovery! Sometimes i wish my home is a little farther so i can enjoy the song a bit more.
i dont know much about Epik High but i know the members and because they used to be YG artist. most of all Tablo really supports BI since trainee days so thats why i know them.

B.I. is featuring in Epik High's new album. The song "Acceptance Speech" seems to be related to their stories. Both lauded songwriters and went thru very public scrutiny but people don't know the difficulties. I miss B.I. (Hanbin) so much. I can't wait to hear the full song. All I can think about is Hanbin's speech for Song of The Year award. It will be the first time we'll hear him from an official release since he left iKON.

Tablo's entire solo album- Fever's End part 1+2 is a masterpiece. It was while he was really depressed bc of his entire ridiculous scandal so the lyrics are quite dark but also amazing. Dear TV is 100% english

@6:10 Commas usually are for pauses in a sentence (a moment of rest) but when used in numbers, it acts as a separator for larger numbers. So in the context of the song... chasing money trying to make things work would be my guess
Epik high is something you gotta dive into. Read the lyrics, think, watch the videos, read wikis if you have to. There's always another thing to find, a new play on words, a different idea. The depth is almost endless.

Epik high was the reason why i got into korean music I used to only watch reality shows but damn they are good
I'm begging you, pls react to more Hyukoh. They are such an underrated gem, who are very popular among the younger generation in Korea. They are mostly indie but also have some more hard hitting songs, such as Hooka or Wanli, which i defintily recommend reacting to. Also the one who features in this song here is Oh Hyuk, the Bands frontman. He has a suer unique voice, which can get VERY raspy. He has done many projects with other korean artists, including Code Kunst. Their Song "Parachute" is absolutly amazing.
Epik High and HYUKOH were part of YG. I suggest you give them a listen. Also, ZION T. from the BLACK LABEL (YG sub company) is also dope. Hope to watch your future reactions to them 😁

I mean of course if you write their name using Korean characters it would be pronounced as how you’re saying it but I think even in Korean their name is written in English as Epik High

I listen to music by Epik High or Jonghyun when I feel just physically and mentally exhausted. The older I get, the more I relate to Epik High's music... but it's also comforting. I highly suggest you keep checking out Epik High's music. They collaborate with so many amazing artists, too.
"Lost One", "Love Drunk", "Us Against The World", and "Expiration Date" are some of my favorites songs.
I also really love the albums "Sleepless In _____" and "we've done something wonderful". If you check out the "Sleepless In ____" album, I also suggest afterwards to check out the full version of "lullaby for a cat" because the removed verse hits hard (but definitely listen to the whole album completely as is because it flows so beautifully).

As a long time Epik High fan, I think their music was so much better when they were not part of YG, tbh, and I am also a YG stan, once upon a time. Epik High is at its best when they are introspectively and existentially sorrowful. With YG, their music became... different? Like they were being forced to be happier. I think Epik High is the best when they are independent and without too much outside influence that sway their message and sound.
Epik's high's artistry have nothing to do with YG. Yes, they were under YG for a few years, but if you are implying that Epik High is where they are now because of YG, that's completely incorrect.
@@Alan-ww8vi I completely agree with you there. YG was literally just a record deal for them. And alot of people still confuse that with them being “from YG” as in something created by YG. What many people forget is that YG used to focus quite a bit on individual artists and didn’t just limit itself to the realm of kpop. But they definitely seem more focused in that direction these days so it tends to make people forget. 🤷🏼♀️

when we say only the word 쉼표, that means comma. However, It also can be used with a different meaning in Korean.
언젠가 찍고 싶었던 마음의 쉼표가, in that part the 마음의 쉼표 means leisurely life, so we can understand that "the leisurely life(aka comma, aka rest) that I wanted to reach someday"

Girl at the end is IU. She is solo singer-songwriter and actress. She has sweet melo voice tone but her music is very diverse (jazz, balade, pop etc.). Many of korean singers, actors are fans of her music. Twice are all her fans. Nayeon once gave her a flower on award show. She still keeps it. Mamamoo were on her concert as guest singers. She is very respected in industry.
She is also coming back soon. Pre-release track 'Celebrity' to her 5th full album is out at 27th.

He went through a lot and almost lost his career at one point. I think this song was written around or after that period, dedicated to his wife....I cry every time I read the lyrics 😌there’s also another piece called Dear TV in the same album I believed.
