Design Plans: jonpeters.com/design-plans/ Hi Everyone, Last year I built a bicycle rack for my pedal assist mountain bike. I posted the full length video and a 15 second short. I was totally surprised when the short blew up gaining more than 160, million views. I’m not posting or titling this video to brag about all the views I just thought you would find it interesting and the bike rack really does work great. Have a great day, Jon The Viral Short ruclips.net/user/shortso85R_qX-0So?si=N8sfcx_N16PSJFUf
Your path to getting healthy is really insightful. I think a lot of people think they have to kill themselves to get back into shape, or suffer somehow, but you’ve shown that getting a bike you will actually ride - even if it is pedal assist - is better than getting a bike you won’t ride. It’s clearly upping your endorphins so that you feel like doing the other less-fun stuff that keeps you riding healthy. This is a great example of not letting the perfect get in the way of the good. Congratulations on doing it, and congratulations on keeping it up.
I bought an e-bike last year after pining for one for years. It really opens up the range of a normal bike ride and lets you go places without getting sweaty and tired. The rack is cool. I wasn't sure how to store mine because of the weight, so I might build this.
Getting my e-bike did the same for me. Got me exercising more and now starting to do bike packing. I read an article that says e-bike riders get more exercise riding because they tend to ride longer than regular bikes. That theory holds true for me too. I wasn’t really a biker until after I got my e-bike and now ride all the time. Currently training for RAGBRAI 2024 as I watch this video from a stationary bike (too cold out still). Glad to hear about the videos success!
Great idea, Love the fact you left in the bevel ooopsie! We all do it, I had one yesterday on a project! I'm in the market for one of these bikes in Nashville. You nailed it, staying in shape in 50's. Being newly retired at 58 and losing 35 pounds allows me to ride more. My buddy got one and he says the same at our age it is big help. Cheers!
What a happy accident! I am turning 70 next week and I still use my Total Gym 3 times a week! I just sent your video to my brother-in-law who owns a bike shop. I told him to pass it along to his customers.
Yeah I really like these simple racks, I watched the first video as well. You might find mounting the brackets at 30-45degree so the handle bars sit at an angle means you don’t have to lift the black bike off the ground.
Jon, I liked version 1, but this version two is amazing. The ramp is a clever and simple solution to allow the bikes to stagger on the shared wall. I really like all your quick cuts, asmr style audio, and including us in your thought process. "I'm an idiot "... we've all had those moments. I love my Bulls Copperhead AM3 and having ridden every emtb motor on the market, Bosch really is where it's at. Have fun buddy, looking forward to more.
If you can't fix it, feature it! Much better with both edges rounded over. Sometimes the universe steps in and guides us via what we initially view as mistakes, but really ends up being better than originally planned. Kudos to you, Jon, for excellent simple functionality!
I'm new to having a garage. I see that this is a simple project, but I definitely would have bought design plans for it (because, again, new). I dont see them for sale, though.
I was thinking you were gonna say big thanks to the people who asked what would happen if the tire went flat, response short video went bonkers! Funny how stuff works like that
Those are nice, Jon. I was wondering about adding sides to the floor ramp until you mentioned it. I also think the double chamfer is better looking than just on the inside. Bill
Love Emtb. I used to bike for max 1.5hrs, now with the Ebike I can go adventure for 4 hrs. I had an issue putting my bike like this though. My shocks would start to leak oil. So I hang my bikes right side up from the ceiling.
Definitely! So much fun! I’ve heard that but haven’t hadn’t a problem and my friend a bicycle mechanic said it shouldn’t be a problem… But I’ll keep an eye out.
It is amazing how some videos do so good.. But you hit a broad audience, makers and people how like to ride bikes for their health. Definitely saves space that way also. Luck of the draw
What are the odds I’m literally wanting to get into mountain biking and this video pops up? lol You mentioned another channel of yours a while back…maybe a workout routine you do would be cool. Thanks!
Yooooooo fool!!! The original rack has 3 screws on the sides. Also you need to plane the sides down on original rack to match the new one. Freakin amatuer hour over here... Hoping all is well Bud, Dirty Jersey out!!
So Jon, have you ever had the bike battery run dead on you? 56 lbs is heavy to lift, but I would think that is still pedal-able, but maybe a struggle on hills.
Hi Art! I usually do about a 15 mile loop and still have a little more than 50 % charge at the end of the ride. If I thought I was cutting it close I would switch to eco mode and that would get me home. I do ride some times unassisted to get warm and it rides pretty good 👍
define "significantly". you wouldn't change circumference from 29 to 650b so that's out. I could see going to a larger tire. But that fork will only accommodate a 2.8 max. Hes running the OEM 2.6, so a simple tire pressure adjustment can easily solve any rack fitment issue.

Great! Definitely it’s been a game changer for me.

Thanks Kenny! Absolutely! This bike is so much fun and definitely inspires me to exercise more.

Thanks Mark, good idea 👍 I might have to try that… thanks!

Awesome! Thanks Brandon! … looking forward to a good ride with my son Michele on Friday…SP connect is Great 👍
I noticed that you put the wrong side of the wood and nailed it, I got confused for a second.
Jon Peters as usual you rock.
Thanks JB!

😂😂😂 good one Mike! I got a good laugh at that… Yoooooo fool!!!! 🤣👍👊
Como diría Bob ross, un error feliz, ahora los dos ángulos del rack están redondos, se ve mejor así, saludos
Lol 😂 awesome thanks!
Love it

Nice new bike! Since you have some experience now, what are your recommendations when looking into a e-mtb?
I’ve been really happy with Bulls and I like the Bosch motor almost two years and no problems.
So Jon, have you ever had the bike battery run dead on you? 56 lbs is heavy to lift, but I would think that is still pedal-able, but maybe a struggle on hills.

Cool
What if you change tire sizes, significantly?
You would have to make a new rack

Congrats on it taking you 5:13 to say what I generally say about 90-seconds into any project I make.
