He has a stellar collection. I am 52 and I got my first RC when I was 12, it was a Kyosho Javelin. I have it still. I never got another one until the 2000s. I recognize a lot of the ones he was showing. Especially the Associated gold pans and Tamiya frog and stuff. My friend had a lunch box, always wanted one. And another friend had a grasshopper. So cool.

I saw an 89 inch slick on the wall this guy definitely knows his shit. Mark I realize you are younger than me but yeah back in the sand scorcher days we had mechanical speak controls with those little ceramic bricks. Brought back some good memories the sand scorcher had the biggest radio box we’ve ever seen but for that day was standard issue. A couple of years later the bruiser came out which is basically based on The sand scorcher. Certainly brought me back to my childhood days thanks for sharing
I had a trx1 when they first came out and it was as competitive as thr RC10's !! Dont have it anymore, but I still have a vintage RC10T!!

That predator is awesome. I actually saw them run in the 90’s. You also passed over a Traxxas TRX3, that was my first ever hobby grade RC car. I bought it used. My first ever new kit was the TRAXXAS SRT when it first came out. I still have it!

I had an RC10T2 I loved that truck. Was a beast back then.

Thats really awesome! All those cars that Rob has are the cars I drooled over back in the 80’s. Saw most of the cars in my Local hobby shop back in the 80’s in an exception to the Blazing blazer, Sand Scorcher, Tamiya High Lux and the Rough rider as they were already discontinued in the 80’s. Loved all of it! The Marui Big Bear was a unique truck very simple design, but unfortunately the plastic and engineering was pretty weak. Marui yes, the same company Tokyo Marui that makes air soft guns, made some awesome looking RC’s especially buggies, but unfortunately their plastics weren’t the best. Now, Marui RC’s are also very rare. Ah, I remember the beginnings of Traxxas when they made their first rc which I think was the Cat. I remember seeing the Traxxas The Cat in certain retail stores especially in the PX. The Traxxas Sledge Hammer, Hawk and TRX-10 or Bullet were awesome, but I still prefer Tamiya’s. Man, I remember when Losi was the new company on the track winning races. A company called Nikko was company that also made some unique hobby/toy grade RC’s that was sold in Kaybee toy store, Toys r’ us and Sears and Radio shack got into that RC market and Nikko was the back bone for their rc toys. Radio Shack had a unique rc car called the Golden arrow which was basically made by Nikko and I remember seeing a price of $400. Good times, good memories! 80’s was definitely the golden age of RC’s! Thanks Mark! That was awesome to film Robs collection!
One thing I have noticed with most Tamiya collectors they claim to have them all or near as dam it, but I never see the 5th scale Gas Monster Buggy.
That Big Bear where would you even see anything like that & that Blazzing Blazer is amazing. They look well built compared to todays RTR’s. Looks like most of these are kits though none the less it looks like they were mad to run & run. Nice Thank both of you for the exclusive look. The roots of our current RC’s. Is there a RC museum somewhere? That would be cool from old to new all together if you find one & go please share.

Sometimes can get lucky with the blazon blazer. I picked one up little beat up with a super champ, Tamiya 280z Datsun and a RC10 graphite. whole topping $5. People clearing out their garage. Sold the 280z sold the super champ. and traded the Blazin Blazer with an Rc company. they sent me $1500 in new product (3 qtr) with knowing I would sell them (and with me not a store they still honored the warranty for the new buyers). but one of those items I traded with another company getting stuff valued more than what I traded. Basically 5 bucks turned into 2k profit on my end. and I still have the rc10 graphite. (wanted to keep the Blazer for how rare. but cost to restore 5 years ago was still bit much.

Even in the 80’s when I worked in a hobby store in the mall I knew the rc10 was a superior car
Scrolled down a little bit and didn't see it, the Bullet was the first main stream Traxxas, I had one, it wasn't a great car but I loved it. The Radicator came out after that, I had one of those, Rad 2 after that, the TRX1 was my last Traxxas Buggy, which came out in the early 90's. It was very competitive in competitions in it's day.
Not important to the conversation is that my next car was an original 4 Tec, and I grabbed a Rustler at the same time. I still have the 4 Tec, sold the Rustler, bought a newer Rustler a few years back.
That rc10 T2 will still hold its own against any of the newer stadium trucks on the track today.

I did recognize that yellow stock car that was in the middle of the shelf. It went by pretty quick. Early AE pan car. I know of them through a friend at work. His dad was a champ racer here in the south east. Very cool video!!!!
Another rare R/C is the MRC Nitro Thunder King, from what i remember there were under 1500 conversion kits made.

I had a Blazing Blazer when it first came out. It was an awesome truck, but it drove me crazy, it kept stripping it’s spur gear and I eventually sold it to a “friend” for $400 (that he never paid me). If I find him again, maybe I could repossess it.

I got my first hobby grade rc back in 1988, Tamiya Grasshopper II and still have it. Believe it or not back then here in Canada especially it was expensive for these kinda things, when all was said and done buying the model, servos, battery, charger, remote over a 15 month or so period all sold separately I had almost 1000 bucks back then. Lol
RCs today are relatively cheap to buy in comparison. 👍😉

I think I still got the magazine that featured the tenth tech car some where. RCCA or RC Driver. Can’t remember. I had a Traxxas Nitro Hawk and I still have a Traxxas Sledgehammer. I also have a RC-10 GT. Too bad I don’t have the original body for the sledgehammer . And when I was really young. I had a Tamiya Fast Attack My first hobby grade was the Kyosho Ultima Outlaw stadium truck. Now my collection is out of control lol. 50+ mostly nitro powered monster trucks.

The first model you picked up. Was pretty much a copy to us old folks of the associated RC 10 if I’m not mistaken even had an aluminum chassis we had a few guys that I ran worth had those because the price point was way cheaper than an RC 10. If I’m not mistaken that’s roughly about 88/89

I also had a yellow nitro sand rail that was about 1/8 th and had a horrible clutch from hobby ???? Lol just had back surgery so the name escapes me. When it started to scream after a long drawn out bog, it was fast but it did not steer very well lol. Oh yea 1981-2 maybe
