Wow Jeff. You and "the better half" did a great video tonight. When you dug Pops gold nugget out, your reaction and the time you took looking it over was a special moment for you. Your lack of words ironically said everything you were thinking and feeling that moment. I could bet my life savings that your pops was enjoying the view of that nugget from right over your shoulder, and how special was it that we got to see the wash plant in action like it was. That purdy woman of yours was workin' it like a BOSS. In the last vidja I commented if you thought you might do some time lapse video of your work cause of how much you get done that we don't always get to see which you said yes you may and you did right in this here vidja. Loving the content Jeff and you know your pops is to so keep it coming.

Jeff, The story about your fathers passing I can relate to. My son Chris lost his fight with Covid 19 in June this year. Age 49 leaving his wife and 5 kids to figure it all out. Just killed my wife and I. So sad.
I moved from California to NC 10 years ago. I planned to hit all the East Coast sights I have read about for years. My metal detector was tunes to get my share of the silver and gold doubloons on Florida's Treasure Coast as well as my share of the NC gold fields. Yup I was retired with all the time I needed to make all this happen. Then my back went out and 3 surgeries later I'm now pushing a wheelchair and have been for the past 6 years. Your videos as well as Forgotten and Abandoned Places have kept me sane. Thank you for all that you do. You have been a blessing to me. Sooooo Come on LETS GO!!!!!

Remove 1 section of your gm’s shaft so it’s half the length then you will be able to see the control panel easily whilst in those tight spaces.
Makes things so much faster not having to deal with the extra length.

The reason I started watching you Jeff is because you look so much like my brother. He was only 7 years older than I, and he passed away from covid and exactly a week later my mother passed. I just miss them all so much and me and my mother and brothers where very close. It's almost like a nightmare you can't awake from. My mother was a tough little lady and covid killed them. As for your specimen gold, up there directly adjacent to the King Tut placer, I found some nuggets with my Dad using the Gold Buddy recirculating sluice. That whole area is full of CLAY, so most of the day was trying to break it up in the classifier, and raw hands the next day (protip: wear gloves). Anyway, found a couple of small nuggets in a quartz matrix and dropped them into a glass vial with water. Well what I thought was quartz dissolved in that water and the gold fell to the bottom, so I don't know if it was just held together by the silt and clay, or how quartz dissolved in water or what it really was (calcite??), but the takeaway is that you might not want to keep some specimens in water, assuming you do that.
As for that area, what we were seeing was little stringer "veins", or old placers maybe from when the Colorado got dammed and ran down through there eons ago, probably filling up Red Lake. They'd run for an inch or two, you'd find what I thought was quartz but it's some kind of transparent clear crystal, and gold nuggets. You probably know the property I'm talking about just to the left of the old placer mill along that ridgeline.

Lots of planning and hard work has gone into your gold nugget producing mine and wash plant - congratulations on your success! Looks like the new wash plant and hoist operator trainee is working out too - she's a keeper! Liked the commemoration of the first nugget found to Pops. We had the pleasure of meeting Pops at your 1st Meet and Greet Seminar in Las Vegas - He will be missed.

In the 1700's Spanish miners and Fransiscan priests like Escalantes used the term "Paso por aqui" followed by a date whenever they reached a significant point after a dangerous journey or meaningful place. They would etch it in stone if it was too last like the one in Northern Arizona from Escalante and Dominguez group 1776.
When you mentioned naming the drift after your father so that it includes "Pops" I thought "Pops Paso Por Aqui", or, PP-PA! Father passed this way, or came through here, would be the literal translation - but it carries deeper meaning, significant to a memory in time that was a powerful experience. You're father gave you many powerful experiences, which in turn gives us a taste of it through your guys videos, and you gave him many powerful experiences too.
    Or:
_PopAu_ (poppa with gold's elemental name)
    _PopAu Lode_
    _Pops Motherlode_
    _Pops El Dorado_
    _Pops Paydirt_
    _Pops Diggins_
But my favorite of all, which would also draw reference to you, his son -
*Pops Argonaut*, a term they used during the goldrush that meant a person in search of gold
No matter what though, that's gonna be a special Drift

Have you thought about using a dehumidifier down there? If nothing else use silica gel sewn in to little pouches in a thin, coarse cloth. Along with a fan to circulate the air through it. Its used it to keep bottles of pills dry, and people usr it in air compressors to remove moisture from the air. When it stops working, all you do is sit it in the sun. Or bake it at 225° F. Some has a color indicator. It changed color ehen wet then back when dry. Making a large curtain that can swing free, will also work. And id nail some 1x4's to the walls around the shaft, and hang plastic with a hole for the ladder. And or chute, to create a dry pocket, where the humidity is controlled. As you go deeper, take the gel dehumidifier with you and hang more plastic. It can make working conditions much more favorable!
