    Great vid. thanks for sharing. I always wonder though: how much time did you spend researching, debating, considering, purchasing, and selling? Time spent doing those things is also part of the cost, right? If you're online all day researching for no pay, then you need to make up for that in profit, which probably puts you at a huge loss, even if you count your unrealized profit.

    Something I just thought about that I don't fully understand... Why NFT's? Why do we need non-fungible tokens? Like, I get that the token is unique, it provides absolute proof of ownership of a unit of data. But we never needed that in the past. People own all kinds of things and have different forms of proof of ownership which does not exist on the block chain, why are we suddenly so invested in the idea? For some niche applications, I get it. If you're using Bitcoin and want to be able to make monetary transfers without reveling your identity, Bitcoin can do that whereas a credit or debit purchase cannot. Stuff like that. But as far as NFT's go and the fact that they are basically synonymous with a representation of ownership of artwork... Just why? Use some other type of database system that has been working for the past 30 years for this kind of thing. The whole idea of NFT's just seems like a fad somebody made up to trick people into throwing money away because it is "advanced," i.e. participants don't understand what is happening but trust that it's a good idea.

      There's no practical purpose to NFTs except to sell it for a higher price than you bought it. Owning an NFT isn't even ownership of the art in any way. It's ownership of the NFT. Ownership of a receipt.

If ETH went from 4k to 3k between buying and selling an NFT, you would've had to have to sold that NFT for 33% more ETH just to break even in fiat.

    • @DanielInskeep
      @DanielInskeep  2 года назад +1

      i understand, that's why i kept everything in ETH until the very end so you could just keep it all in the same base currency. it was hard to track my cost basis - some was bought in 2018, most was received from working on a few other NFTs, so my cost basis was very low compared to current prices.

    I hate people like this. The term "flipping" comes from buying a house, changing it by renovation (investment), and selling it for a higher price based upon the physical changes made. When you buy something, make no changes, and resell it you aren't flipping it, you are just reselling it. I think the term "flipping" being incorrectly used is becuase people want to make themselves feel better on a sell where their lack of change was not valuable. It reminds me of the inverse situation, where instead of selling being the final action, buying is the final action and companies used this gimmick of adding the word "smart" to the product (smartcar, smartwater, etc.). The customer's action didn't change whether they bought the smae product (water vs smartwater, both are still just water) with or without the word "smart" being attributed, and the customer isn't any smarter for purchasing the same product. But that's just it, the customer wants to be seen, or feel smarter without having to contribute anything different or change anything.

      strange that you would hate someone for that. if you really want to get into it, "flipping" refers to buying and selling an asset for a quick profit - improving it isn't required by definition - it's just usually necessary to do with something like a home. just look into people that flip vacant land without improving it. no room for misguided hate here.

      @@DanielInskeep ""flipping" refers to buying and selling an asset for a quick profit" that same definition can apply to a resale.

      @@iguess2739 have a 2nd word like flipping shoes flipping tickets flipping houses flipping nft I would put reselling as a 2nd person selling an item like I bought a tee shirt and no longer have use so I'm reselling it for less then I bought it for
