    My two largest issues with EV’s are 1. They’re not zero emissions when one considers Scope 1,2 and 3 lifecycle GHG’s and any many situations worse than ICE cars and 2. We’re in effect handing our entire transportation system over to China (what could possibly go wrong?)

      except we're not handing anything to China, no this is something America is pushing all on it's own. why, because America wants to be like Europe but with a cleaner environment. the green new deal is something AOC pushed through
      congress, you know why, because more than half of the left is for it,
      and California is the biggest supporter of it. that's how it passed, and it's why we've seen a such a dramatic change in the auto industry.

    • @SteveLomas-k6k
      @SteveLomas-k6k 3 месяца назад

      I rented a hybrid for 2 weeks and found it really unpleasant to drive. Too inconsistent- you never know what's going to happen when you put your foot down- a nice smooth gas powered wind up, or a nasty rabbit start electric lurch. 'regen braking' is like driving with your emergency brake stuck on. I still got range anxiety because it combined real gas mileage with some imaginary battery mileage that came and went. If I could have turned all the battery stuff off I would.

  • @nathanielwilson1899

    No it’s that we want to buy what we want,not what the government wants us to buy. Who wants to sit at a charger for 30-60 minutes charging. And who wants to stop every 150-200 miles to charge. If you own a house with solar panels and a Tesla power wall,a EV for around town and work would be great. But a EV as your main car is not going to work. But the biggest problem is the grid capacity is not up the task. We have already seen what winter’s do to EV’S. EV’S will never reach the level of use that they ( the government) wanted. These cars are not the future. In their right place they work fine. Some automakers are going back to quantity over quality in their vehicles. The biggest problem in the United States is the auto union,we cannot compete against non union companies. This is the real problem from China. If they were ever to get into this market like the other countries they would kill off US legacy makers.

    • @SteveLomas-k6k
      @SteveLomas-k6k 3 месяца назад

      Nobody makes money selling EVs or maintaining chargers, they cost the tax payer a fortune, if China wants that albatross I say let them have it, as long as we let American auto makers build cars people want, they'll be profitable.

    Coach, I agree with you 100% on this video. I never could see all EV's in the near future. Being a multiple shop owner in Florida I referred to EV buyers as left over Flower Children, they're buying the planet, people my age will understand what I mean. The ICE is so efficient now and will improve. IMO more research needs to be implemented on the fuel and cat to improve emissions, after all that's what EV's are all about. My other concern is using to small of a CID and a turbo, will this cause shorter engine life problems. A worn engine isn't efficient.

    look...this ain't rocket surgery, as we say in missouri.
    you have an apartment and they will not allow electric hook up
    and NOBODY can buy a home, especially in los angeles, so you HAVE to live in an apartment.
    you cannot drive more than 300 miles without adding more battery, more weight.
    your car depreciates faster than your anger rises for buying it.
    your most affordable EV is good for around-town driving and costs more than a corrola.
    your EV tires wear quickly and cause more harm to the environment than regular tires.
    your local bridge over the river will limit how many EVs can be on it at one time...ALL infrastructures will begin limiting or falling down from the added weight.
    installing the charging unit will cost another ton....
    charging stations do not exist or are filled up with 4-year-old nissans charging at slow rates
    please....how long will it take you to get up to speed on this????????

    Earlier this year a Tesla's high accelleration was being shown off in West Hollywood. The driver didn't realize the heavy weight of the car; he tried to turn but the car's momentum caused it to hit a light pole & palm trees. The BEV's damaged battery pack immediately caught fire. When a Tesla and most BEVs have dead batteries the windows & doors won't open. Three passengers in the back of the Tesla were unable to get out. Passers by broke the windows w rocks to try pull out the 3 women; luickily 2 were pulled out but the 3rd burned to death. Chinese cars are worse; poor quality control means Chinese Junks doesn't just apply to their boats.

    First EVs would have never sold more than a niche if not for Government incentives for up to 25% of the cost - for supposedly being green - which they really aren't very green. IF no incentives few sales. But they do still have incentives - will China take over? That was China's plan for the start; they helped build their BEV industry with 231 Billion in giveaways, yet even with all that and customer incentives to buy NOT ONE Chinese All BEV maker has every made a penny of profit. They are all in a race to the bottom quaity wise to cut costs blindly trying to survive and get market share; not quality first - quantity ; red ink in vast amounts.

    I prefer the old gas powered car any day. the older car are easier to work on. most of the new cars today are controlled by computers. and the EVs and hybrids are not that much better. $15,000-$35,000 to replace the EV battery pack. the power grid can not even handle that many EV recharging. as for myself I rent an apartment. the landlord will not approve the wiring, or have the complex wired for an EV charging station. so the gas powered car is my only choice.

    Die hard Chevy & Cadillac car & truck owner for 50+ years. Still own Tahoe's, Sierras, & Silverado's. However, I've sold all of my GM stock and invested in more stock positions in O'Reilly's, Auto Zone, & Genuine Parts. The "Kill Switch" provisions in recent federal legislation will probably drive me to make one last new vehicle purchase in 2025. Side Note. I am absolutely on board with Made in the USA. However, I believe that we will destroy our environment with the mining, processing, and disposal of the materials needed to build out the proposed EV ambitions. I would also think that the bleeding heart liberals should have heartburn over the negative environmental impact and the exploitation of peoples commonly used to extract the ores needed for EV batteries--think child labor in Congo, Africa.

  • @DM-xt3rl
    @DM-xt3rl 3 месяца назад

    The future is likely a combination of all types of powered vehicles including electric…….hydrogen fuel cells, etc.
    Let’s not get started on the perception that electric vehicles are better for the environment when the mining processes for the elements needed to produce the lithium ion batteries as well as their disposal are not good for the environment either.
    New vehicle powering options should take cost effectiveness…….ease of manufacturer and environmental impact into consideration and not just use the “we’re saving the environment” trope
