Very liveable, affordable and a wonderful place to raise a family. Hope you make your way back again. You did a great job scratching the surface. Plenty more to explore and enjoy.
Great video. One thing missed at the beginning is that the T is actually free to use within the city/downtown. Station Square is the last paid stop when headed inbound. From First Avenue to the North Shore is considered a "Free Fare Zone."
This video actually made me tear up a bit. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, and if I had to choose one adjective to describe the people here it would absolutely be “proud”. @@hobojungle1 ignore that Pittsburgh troll down there throwing shade on everyone’s sunny outlook. Pittsburgh is what you make of it. There is plenty to do and it’s a city that still feels suburban. I’ve lived in Nashville now for 4 years and I’ll be honest……hate it. So overpopulated. Takes forever to get places. Downtown is a disaster at pretty much all hours because of the city’s lean in on full tourism. Nashville is the new Las Vegas and all they really need is the Casino to back that up.
I've lived here for over a decade and couldn't imagine living anywhere else. But if you're looking for out of this world EDM check out Hot Mass at Club Pittsburgh on Saturday night.
You should look up pictures of Pittsburgh bike racks. There’s a bunch of really cool ones all throughout the city. Just off the top of my head there’s a UFO and one that’s made up of the Queen lyric “I want to ride my bicycle I want to ride my bike.” There was this guy/this goup that got a bunch of artists to create a bunch of cool ones to put throughout the city (alongside improving/adding bike paths) in order to encourage more people to bike instead of drive. It’s part of how Pittsburgh became so bikable in the first place. Also, hearing kielbasa said as anything other than “kabossi” or “boski” always throws me for a loop lol

Diners: I agree with everything you say about them. They are wonderful places to go to. This may sound silly to some, but one thing I do when I visit the US is have a burger at a diner. Of course people can cook it at any level of doneness at home, but I like to have the experience of being at a restaurant and having a burger cooked at the level of my choice.

definitely marking yourself as an outsider with your pronunciation of "primantis" 😂
yep, the roasted carrots and lamb shank at Fig & Ash is excellent.
wigle is very good but a little pricey. strongly recommend Lorelai for an alpine bar with the best bartenders and amaro selection in the city.
agree on all points with regards to tipping except doubling the tax. divide the total by ten and double that. that's 20%. otherwise, i'm sure service workers appreciate the reminder.
the little nod to Fred Rogers was a nice touch at the end. thanks for the love letter to this wonderful city.
it won’t
Moved from Milan, Italy one year ago. I love the blue collar pride, the midwest kindness of people. Definitely an underrated city, especially to live in.
that is the the most tragic thing I have ever heard. what a downgrade. Also this is not the midwest and people here are not particularly nice. go literally anywhere else in the us not in the north east and not LA. blue collar people have no class and no culture. this is one of the worst places to live in on earth. it’s better to just visit for maybe a day
what a great perspective on Pittsburgh. You cant quite put your finger on it but its a wonderful, charming, welcoming big little city. Lived here my whole life. I'm proud of my hometown.
each of course you’ve lived here your whole life. you don’t know any better and that’s why you think this
You did an excellent job explaining the public transit and the payment system. From now on I'll be forwarding your videos to friends who are visiting. Thanks for stopping by.
I can't believe you did a video on Pittsburgh and didn't the entrance to the city from Fort Pitt tunnel on the way in from the airport. Best introduction to a cityscape I have ever seen.
The best city! 🖤💛🖤💛
what are you smoking
Pittsburgh is nice and a quick drive to Chicago, Toronto, Niagara Falls, Detroit, Cleveland, Philly, Atlantic City and New York if you want a weekend getaway.
I hadn't consider its proximity to all those other great cities. I was surprised how far east Pittsburgh is.
8 hrs is a quick drive?
@@Corneliusclewsbury Most of those are 5-6.5 hrs. Montreal is probably a stretch.
I just moved here from LA to the south side and one of the reasons was proximity. Def not always the shortest drives but totally doable andI have taken advantage of that twice already.
I prefer taking Amtrak. I love trains!!
Been recently day dreaming and even beginning to plan a move to Pittsburgh from TN. My job is going full remote/work from home so I’ll have the opportunity now.
Do it, do it!
It's good, but no income tax and closer to good mountains gives TN the W
Don’t do it. it’s so tragically depressing and boring. Even compared to nashville. also I hope you don’t mind constant gray with a absolutely no color for 6 months
I’m moving back in Jan. I say go for it!
I've lived here for over a decade and couldn't imagine living anywhere else. They can pry Salem's burger and fries, Bob's country fried steak, and garlic bread lattes from Yinz Coffee from my cold dead hands. The food is amazing here. The only thing we're lacking is a nightlife with many of the warehouse nightclubs closing and being redeveloped. But if you're looking for out of this world EDM check out Hot Mass at Club Pittsburgh on Saturday night.
Such a great city.
It really is, so underrated.
delulu i see
Thank you for coming to our city. It seems you had a great time. I hope you come back soon.
“The people are surprisingly unpretentious” Exactly as I remember it in July 1987, staying at Theta Xi, CMU, and working at The Gateway Clipper Fleet It’s the people who make Pittsburgh
Great people for sure
no they are. everyone at Pittsburgh’s mediocre universities acts like they go to harvard
I'm an outsider who moved to Pittsburgh recently. Too many locals I've conversed with have asked "why did you move here from California?" They need to appreciate what they have; the grass is always greener. You have an amazing city and I'm glad I found an awesome city to develop roots.
I think that our biggest drawback is the weather. There's a lot to love (food, activities, people, PRICE), but the seemingly endless days of grey sky and brown trees from November to April is truly painful. The only place in the county that has more cloudy days is the pacific northwest.
@@saladmcjones7798 lmao awesome?? this is one of the biggest shitholes on the planet and i mean that literally. a village in africa would be prettier. You’re gonna be soooo fucking depressed when you don’t see the sun for 6 months
@@user-K8T no good food or activity what are you talking about
"...they bring it back with some paperwork for you to complete..." I'm dying! 🤣
I mean...it's true!
boy do I have a story for every street down there : )
I love Pittsburgh beautiful city and good food
Massively underrated.
it’s literally so ugly and the food is terrible. have you seen the rest of the world or tried it’s food!
The Intro was chill inducing, Glad pittsburgh was able to provide soo much even though were rather small compared to many other cities!
Really great lighting in the breakfast scene. The camera work on your videos has gotten better and better.
Awesome, thank you!
The algorithm brought me here (I watch a fair bit of travel channels). Plus, I'm a transplant to Pittsburgh from a handful of years back. But, I stayed on the video because of the production quality. +1 sub
Also....I enjoyed the final comment, elluding to the late-great Mr. Rogers, who I share last names with 😅. It's a sad realization that the current generation will know nothing of him or the show.
All hail the algorithm. 🙇♂️
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you caught the Mister Rogers reference.
I need to go!
It's such a great city
no. you don’t. go literally anywhere else other than the midwest
Fig & Ash looks amazing. On the list!
Me too!
Yeah I was blown away by that place, really incredible food and vibe.
The 412! I'm glad yinz had a great time in tahn!
It's a beautiful place. I sold my place in Nashville a few years back and moved up here.
@@imunchienandalusia literally leaving Nashville after 4 years to come back to my city. Starting 2025 back in my stomping grounds :)
@@lifeofluxuri I think you're going to be happy with it. It's a lot more chill, less road rage. Of course the taxes still suck haha but it's such a beautiful city. Nashville has a great dating pool and a lot of new construction but I don't have much of an urge to move back there. Good luck with your return.
@@imunchienandalusia there is not one semblance of beauty to be seen here for miles
@@whoopydingdong3138 i'm sorry for your loss
@@imunchienandalusia Yeah I lost my MIND from being in the literal ugliest place on earth for too long. it’s unnatural and causes psychological damage. ever hear of zoochosis? that’s modern america for ya. And the rust belt and midwest is the worst of the worst. ugly ugly ugly depressing modern buildings and parking lots surrounded by dead looking trees and a landscape of complete gray for 6 months. nothing to do. disgusting culture in every way whether it’s architecture art food music fashion. pretty much everything about this place is hell
Amazing cinematography!
Thanks!
Pamela’s is FIRE 🔥
Nice video!
As always, excellent video. I especially like what you did with the clean, deep audio. You really manage to seperate Alex (or whoever is talking) from the background, without completely removing the background.
What diffusion filter are you using? The image looks fantastic!
The owner of Fig and Ash also owns the Deutschtown Deli which has some of the BEST deli sandwiches in this city imho
I LOVE this place……❤❤❤❤❤
Me too, totally fell in love with it
Thank you so much for this awesome video. I live in Pittsburgh and LOVE MY CITY!!!! You have highlighted it beautifully!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Diners: I agree with everything you say about them. They are wonderful places to go to.
This may sound silly to some, but one thing I do when I visit the US is have a burger at a diner. In my home country, ground beef served in restaurants has to be cooked well done. Of course people can cook it at any level of doneness at home, but I like to have the experience of being at a restaurant and having a burger cooked at the level of my choice.
I love a good diner burger.
Love Pittsburgh! Great content!
I live in Pittsburgh but I am from L.A. I have never lived somewhere where the people take such pride in their city. No matter what race, people are proud.
This made me miss Pittsburgh 😢I need to come back asap❤
Then our work here is done
As a person that lives in the Pittsburgh Suburbs it’s amazing to hear you love our city so much!
Excellent content and well narrated. New subscriber.❤🎉❤
its so beautiful to see someone appriciate my home this way
I love my cityyyyy 🎉🎉🎉
Nice video, you inspired me to make the trip sometime soon.
don’t waste your time. it’s all a bunch of lies
New Sub. - Thanks for coming to our city. We do love it.
love my city!! the best in the world!!
you’re delusional. lay off the crack
Love the burgh, but it's incredibly expensive to fly into the airport. I'm heading there in two weeks, but flying into Cleveland and renting a car
That's interesting. I connected via JFK and the price was pretty reasonable. Great airport too!
@@attachetravel DFW to Pittsburgh was $800 got a round trip for the weekend of October 3rd, Cleveland was half of that, I can get to Europe for $800
Yeah hopefully PIT gets more service (which it deserves) which will drive down prices.
Going to college here rn for film school! Love the amount to do, but it still feels small and contained, unlike NYC which felt really cramped and overcrowded for me. So this is a perfect blend
there’s literally nothing to do… you must be from ohio or smth
Yinzer for life ! Love my city
pathetic
My home, I moved 3 years ago to live at the beach and have regretted it every day... I plan to go back. The only down side of pittsburgh is winter and the roads. Lol but it's home.
It's a great, great spot. Loved it.
At least the winters aren't what they used to be! The roads, well, yeah.
sad
You might be the only person I've ever seen recommend the Pittsburgh mass transit. Ask any local and they'll tell you it's a shitshow.
@@cinderblockstudios yeah bc the whole video is just an excuse for click bait and money. it’s all lies. this place is a shit hole
It should be noted that sales tax in Pennsylvania is only 6%, so doubling that would not get you to a 15% tip. Tripling the tax is a better rule of thumb.
Cap n cheese is the correct choice at primantis. I congratulate you sir
8:43 Primanti's is pronounced closer to Pr'manny's, Pittsburghese kinda hits like Bostonian and Midwestern accents shoved together and told to play nicely.
Love Pittsburgh ❤🌉 City of Bridges
I've never seen so many bridges in my life!
@@Quincyq15 why? literally why?
Downtown has its problems like most other US cities, but it really is a great place. Nighttime walks over the bridges were my favorite
May get lost in the comments, but if you’d like a deeper dive on Pittsburgh’s neighborhoods, Dean Bog has a series here where he explores just that. The history is as rich as you felt while visiting.
Not sure why the $3.75 fare for the airport bus was not stated in the video, even as the cab fare was. Fact is, the 28X is not only super efficient; it's an incredible bargain as well.
you need to bike the city to really see it. especially the fun and dirty n grimy parts. 🍻
Alex walking in Slow Motion... always a good sign! 😄
It's my art.
Favorite thing at Wigle: the gin
Hi Alex. Lovely video. Shame we don’t hear much about
Pittsburgh. I’m very tempted to get the Bellroy sling as I already own 3 other Bellroy products. 😊
Hell Yeah Brother
Primanti’s- Per-MAN-tees not MON! Great video tho!🖤💛✌️
I loved this video of my city. Did you know that the Great Allegheny Passage trail at the point connects with the C&O Trail in Cumberland and goes all the way to Washington, DC? It attracts people from all over the world.
why go there? it’s absolutely hideous. it’s just a bunch of dead trees most of the year
@@whoopydingdong3138for the 300+ mile bike ride. you pass a continental divide, the mason/dixon line, large tunnel through a mountain, tremendous viaduct, beautiful adventure.🍻
You say Primanti’s in such a fancy way 😂 we say it like Pra-manny’s. We do have our own language / dialect.
Incredibly well done, and a beautiful look into the city I call home. Cheers!
I recently moved to Pittsburgh about a year ago and it has been one of the best decisions ive ever made. Every neighborhood is its own unique experience and culture to it and I keep finding more and more cozy spots as I explore further. We got set up with a house in south side slopes with a rooftop deck and everytime I sit out and look at the gorgeous night skyline, I am in awe.
A video about my city i had to watch
