The German language is more similar to Klingon pronunciation, It's very guttural, english not. I've heard american teachers and it doesn't sound the same.
I'm learning more from you than from the PDF files available from the Klingon Language Institute, honestly. Those are great for learning grammar, but when it comes to the practical side of things, your videos are just what the doctor ordered :-) Besides, the contrast between your Klingon makeup and your suit cracks me up every time.
+Tony Karasek all the words have the H "rough K", this language is good for people Cystic Fibrosis, daily conversation would help them clear the phlegm build up.
@brittnibeers - That is correct. In this case it's clipped Klingon, whioch is used during battles to save time. For instance, the command {baH} = "fire" should be {yIbaH}; During battle, the prefix {yI-} is usually omitted.
(1) Because I like cats - would that be a Terran cat or a Kronos one? (2) Net als jij spreek ik meerdere talen en weet ik uit ervaring hoe het alledaagse huis-tuin-en-keuken lexicon voor de meeste hoofdbrekens kan zorgen wanneer je je metterdaad probeert te redden in een vreemde cultuur. (3) I really like your stuff!
(1) {vIghro'} is a Klingon animal that resembles a terran cat. (2) Het heeft ook lang geduurd tot Klingon ook alledaagse woorden zoals trein, brood en tandenborstel gekregen had. (3) I'm glad you like it; I'm working on more to come soon.
@ferrante12345 The H is used in accordance with the standard romanization of tlhIngan Hol, which is designed for a lay audience, rather than linguists. If they wrote "x", a lot of people would probably pronounce it "ks".
@NeonHybridization - Who says it's a Klingon ship? ;-) Yes, some of you are right: I have been recruited by the Federation to teach Klingon at Sarfleet Academy. That's also the reason for me wearing a suit.
Lieven Litaer is that your German name or your Klingon name here? I think Klingons is a hard language to try to speak or say some words, but if you have learn Klingons a while it's easy, but I haven't done that just say some words in Klingonese, but I have some translators, which can translate from English to Klingonsese vice versa :)
Lieven Litaer, You know Star Trek TNG - Mind's Eye and some quotes from the episode which goes like this : Vagh - "You speak the lies of a taHqeq!" Picard responses by shouting all the Klingon swear-words he knows, {Qu'vatlh qhuy'cha' baQa'} What means taHqeq and Qu'vatlh qhuy'cha' baQa'? If you Lieven Litaer can speak Klingonese? I have found out taHqeq means epithet and the words will then be You speak the lies of a epithet :) But insult Picard said, there isn't any translation of that word
Well, I dunno, the ch sound in Bach seems to be much the same than the h in baH, actually. It's just that the Klingons seem to tend to exaggerate that sound so much...
There is also the official Klingon Dictionary by Marc Okrand or alternative the Klingon for the Galactic Traveller. Or the pages of the Klingon Language Institute
No, that isn't correct swordofisis :p Kirk said to Maltz on Star Trek The Search For Spock after he had killed Klingon Kruge : matlh, jol yIchu' (Maltz, beam me up)
Seriously can you really communicate in Klingon. I mean hey honey going to the store for mill and eggs. I mean everything. Granted English has 320k words most languages have 100k words. So is the 100k words on klingon
HiSlaH! You could say that a number of ways in Klingon. E.g. nIm QImmey je. chaH je' jiH. vIjaH ngevwI'. Although some dialects the last sentence might be ngevwI' vIjaH, depending on how strict they are with grammar.
Yes, so what :) Klingons, Romulans, Vulcans, Andorians etc only exists in Star Trek fantasy and series, so if a German guy, with Klingon masked wearing a dress and speak English, so what :) Do he really have to dress in Klingon Uniform, when he shall not play on set etc, but only say these Klingon words and what they mean without that shall seems so wrong?
A German, speaking in English, to teach me Klingon. I love the internet.
He is tri-lingual. :)
The German language is more similar to Klingon pronunciation, It's very guttural, english not. I've heard american teachers and it doesn't sound the same.

Yes. Your right.
Can't help but admire your dedication in presenting the Klingon language to us. Very well done and much appreciated. Qapla' !
I really want to speak Klingon, I'm glad he starts with stuff I would need to know most like how to greet someone and how to have basic conversation.
tim patin This comment was awhile back, I think I was joking.
+Tony Karasek all the words have the H "rough K", this language is good for people
Cystic Fibrosis, daily conversation would help them clear the phlegm
build up.
When I woke up this morning, I never thought I would learn Klingon. It is a bizarre world...
@brittnibeers - That is correct. In this case it's clipped Klingon, whioch is used during battles to save time. For instance, the command {baH} = "fire" should be {yIbaH}; During battle, the prefix {yI-} is usually omitted.
@birdinlay Not quite: That was jol yIchu', with "jol" meaning "transporter beam". You can also simply say HIjol ("Beam me aboard!")
I was visiting a Japanese Star Trek fan website and found some Klingonese Star Trek movies transcripts, for some years ago I came across :)
When are we getting to the word for cat?
The word for cat is {vIghro'} [say: vig-row]
Why do you ask?
(1) Because I like cats - would that be a Terran cat or a Kronos one? WHAT IS THE KLINGON WORD FOR PIG AND PIGLET 🐷
>"Next time I will show you how to toast"
>lesson 4 instead of 3
nepwI' ! XD
ok, so isn't this phrase also used for "activate transporter"? as seen in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock?
@NeonHybridization I think our friendly teacher recently killed a Starfleet professor in battle, and won his office as the spoils of war.
@RobTFirefly Not to mention, if you're a Star Trek fan, you cannot just have a room with a Klingon theme. :D
@ferrante12345 The H is used in accordance with the standard romanization of tlhIngan Hol, which is designed for a lay audience, rather than linguists. If they wrote "x", a lot of people would probably pronounce it "ks".

Yeah...the question about ST:III was the first thing I thought of. What's up with that?
Maybe you should use [X] for representing the sound [H]? phonetically it seems more correct.
Isnt So'Wi' Chu' What Kirk said to get the Klingons to beam him up from Genesis?
He said "jol yiChu"
I had one of those calculators before, it had big buttons for my grandma.
baH! is like in Russian, feels like somebody borrowed a word, since its also means something like BAM. And spelled like Бах.
@NeonHybridization In addition to that, why is a Klingon wearing a Hogwarts school uniform??
r there kli text books
Lieven Litaer is that your German name or your Klingon name here? Well, I dunno, the ch sound in Bach seems to be much the same than the h in baH, actually. It's just that the Klingons seem to tend to exaggerate that sound so much...
Coincidentally, 'baH' (бах) is also Russian for 'Bang!'
I thought to fire the st3 Christopher Lloyd commander Kruige said Maerch meaning fire

Ich finde diese Videos toll. Leider scheint der Herr sich nicht mehr lange gemeldet zu haben...:-( Ich hoffe, es geht ihm gut?
Hahah...correcting english speakers on German AND Klingon. Fabulous =D
Although I think it's really silly, most English speakers pronounce Bach - Bak.

wait, weren't we supposed to learn how to toast
o yeah now i can say i speak klingon in my resume,
a klingon wearing a nice suit and tie speaking english with a german accent seems so wrong LOL
But in Star Trek TMP the Klingon captain said maH not baH ☺
No, that isn't correct swordofisis :p Kirk said to Maltz on Star Trek The Search For Spock after he had killed Klingon Kruge : matlh, jol yIchu' (Maltz, beam me up)
Fuckin love it!
