The 1966 oldsmobile tornado is not what you are showing us. I don't think the tornado was meant to be a hot rod. It was big it was bulky. It was heavy but it did do great front Wheel burn outs. I had one and I know.
I have always admired the '66 Toronado. I still remember the review in Popular Mechanics by the legendary Tom McCahill. It was definitely not a muscle car. I'd call it more of a luxury (or near luxury) grand tourer.
So confused about this list, showing concept cars, talking about a ‘66 but showing a ‘65. And muscle cars were never about handling, and the ‘65 Impala SS was great in its day, and has been popular with bow tie fans ever since. Have driven one - super comfortable cruiser. The Impala was bigger than the Chevelle, which was more muscle car (big engine in midsize car). I wish you luck with this new channel, but you gotta do better research. The Corvette wasn’t a muscle car, it was a personal coupe. A 2-seater luxury coupe in its first generation. For the second gen, it gained a 427ci engine, with tons of tire spinning hp. It was run in racing series, and while it was an impressive fast car, it wasn’t really a muscle car. Again, the muscle cars were midsize cars with a big engine. The Corvette was a specialty built 2-seater. Even the massively popular Mustang, Firebird, and Camaro were considered pony cars instead of muscle cars, as they were smaller than the GTO, GTX, Torino, etc of the day.
The handling makes up what muscle car is?Wrong ,,it’s higher horsepower, it’s meant to go in a straight line ,drag racing. Handling was never a factor,You could a get a H.P 409 and 396 425 horse, with a 327,283 also in a 65 impala that was a best selling car, that sold over a million cars that still holds the record today! The COPO cars are specifically made for racers that gave them a performance option, not meant to make one for everybody. This is the most uniformed take I think I have ever seen.please don’t do anymore of these please.
Hey you showed. The sixty six imp other than that good idea amc jumped to the three ninety the next year they did have a three fourty three w four barrel in sixty seven though good storyteller
The xp 700 was a concept car! And the 70 chevelle wow! Best hot rod ever almost! This video is ignorant! The 69 super bee was so sweet! I just think you didn't look into the way people actually feel about these cars. The Olds tornado wasn't a muscle car either. It was a luxury car! And that 350 gt is iconic.
I don't think you're old enough to appreciate these cars. You use concepts as production vehicles. You know nothing of the handling or power of legitimate muscle cars. Focus on EVs ... I think that's more your speed
They were not even mentioning “muscle cars” as a category until the Pontiac GTO came out.

Copo muscle cars where never supposed to be built when management in Detroit found out they shut them down..

Interesting look at some old iron, a lousy grouping for this topic.
