That's what's cool about the VDR they will take all the heaviest black sand including all the specks along with it. Every cent counts! The only times I've seen it with less black sand is when the riffles are loaded with so much gold it displaces the lighter iron rich materials.
Nice picker and nice outside bend with a nice backwater with clay 👌 Gold is where you find it... outside bends generally has less but its where you find the the bigger gold -/- " PICKERS " I was hoping you would find one there... its going on to be interesting to see the winter videos of that spot... Yeah Jason , things aren't cut and dried in the world of prospecting hey , iv'e found gold on outside bends , rule of thumb says sure inside bends , but creeks can do some funny things , that side with the sticky clay looks like a winner . Congratulations on finding your first picker, I'm working on finding one myself. This video sold me on that mat. I've been using the Keene A52S sluice box and I find the bulk of the gold in the first carpet and the Miracle mat. But the mat you're using seems to be extremely effective for the flower gold. Thanks for another great video.
I am confident the Devin Gold VDR mats are the best in the world for fine gold recovery especially for what they cost. I rammed the heck out of our 12 inch mat this spring (ice, balls of clay, roots, etc) and the test results were still 99.9%+ of the gold was in the front VDR, .1% in several feet of backup mats and an average of zero- 1 speck in the tailings. That is night and day compared to the huge number of things we've tried and checked out previous to converting to this tech. As an easy demo you can put a VDR mat at the end of any sluice sluice unit and just look at all the fine gold that would normally be blown through and end up in tailings. You can clearly see how it takes in the black sand so there isn't anything getting by. Many of the mainstream mats are only 75% efficient when it comes to fines but these mats are almost assuredly in the high 90s and with them we have almost completely removed visible gold from our tailings. Gold is better in the kan! Thanks for your consideration!
I'll have to give them a try, I'm in black sand hell up here. I have a piece of Keene miracle mat that works great for the black sand but I'm always open to trying other types of mat.

But once you're convinced the tech works it makes sense to have both a production mat and a cleanup unit. Most mats can recover the big stuff but the micro fines and thick black sands need something more than just a standard riffle to get high recovery. The vortex mats work so well because it is actively displacing all the lighter material and accumulating rather than just getting clogged quickly and staying like that which is what happens with a large percentage of mat designs. If you get into enough flour you can make the vortex riffles each hold about 1 gram of gold and get it down so it is shockingly clean given how small it usually is. Happy prospecting!
Interesting how fast that root beer is flowing with how low it is, definitely perfect for a sluice, that's some nice pieces in that pan brother, that's a pretty convenient nugget catcher in the front of your table you got there

I was just out there a couple weeks ago and it was absolutely raging. It is one hell of a hike down to the river but absolutely gorgeous. We scouted a camp and were able to see the top of all that nice bedrock but the water was just too high to do anything. I felt like I was definitely within 2 meters of a gold nugget. Will go back in the fall and try again.

Hey Jason, over here in the northwest corner of Wisconsin thats all we have is tannin colored water, it comes out of the tamarack swamp, thats some mighty fine gold you found there, a PICKER, damn you will be finding ounce bars soon, lol, im still on the hunt for that gold, I can find black sand everywhere but no gold yet, stay safe & hh, 👍🍺🍺🍺🐕🐕
Got to love it when those "eyebrows" turn gold - a good indicator. Haha. The VDR mats are awesome for those little dots of fine gold! You recovered some real specks there. Most mines would use cyanide leaching to recover gold when it gets borderline visible so it's remarkable you can recover gold that tiny without chemicals. Congrats on the huge "bucket list nugget" - it counts! My first nugget was only worth $5 but I'll keep it forever. I learned something new about the Devin Gold mats from the inventor recently. Apparently that thin tab at the end of the mini sluice can be removed to convert it into a river flow through mini sluice to be used in the field without a pump. Another great video but I did notice you got kind of wet in that crik. You don't like rubber boots? Dry feet are important! Thanks for the episode!

Hey Jason, over here in the northwest corner of Wisconsin thats all we have is tannin colored water, it comes out of the tamarack swamp, thats some mighty fine gold you found there, a PICKER, damn you will be finding ounce bars soon, lol, im still on the hunt for that gold, I can find black sand everywhere but no gold yet, stay safe & hh, 👍🍺🍺🍺🐕🐕

They work great but you have to classify to get the best efficiency!!!! AFNB!!!!!!
Got to love it when those "eyebrows" turn gold - a good indicator. Haha. The VDR mats are awesome for those little dots of fine gold! You recovered some real specks there. Most mines would use cyanide leaching to recover gold when it gets borderline visible so it's remarkable you can recover gold that tiny without chemicals. Congrats on the huge "bucket list nugget" - it counts! My first nugget was only worth $5 but I'll keep it forever.
I learned something new about the Devin Gold mats from the inventor recently. Apparently that thin tab at the end of the mini sluice can be removed to convert it into a river flow through mini sluice to be used in the field without a pump.
Another great video but I did notice you got kind of wet in that crik. You don't like rubber boots? Dry feet are important!

This is one of my first like 10 videos but that mat clean out an then just perfectly tosses the mat in the sluice was very impressive im in Minnesota so we really dont have gold here but i might have to take a road trip every now an then to explore Wisconsin its honestly cooler state then Minnesota 😂 ive enjoyed the hiking trails maybe i should get a pan an find me a lil bit of gold

curious question......how do you do with dealing with tics?
I find them , pull them off, and continue what i was doing.... I typically just use bug spray to keep them at bay.
Tannins: I had to look that one up. Very interesting. I've seen it before in some creeks but never knew what caused it. Now I know.
