Hi Chef James, I have a video request. This is a cooking challenge made by the Sidemen, it is a very long video, but it is entertaining (for the wrong reasons 😂) ruclips.net/video/AsvhscWKcnM/видео.htmlsi=YRuc0g7aBQacufh0
I love how Jack basically accuses the old ladies at his church of corruption because they didn't choose his spoiled mystery meat chili as the winner lol.
He was clearly trying to butter them up and got mad when he realised his efforts were in vain because a neutral public were allowed to decide. I dare say that even if it were a closed panel of judges he tried brown nosing, his chances would not have improved.
"Remember that brisket I made last year" He is not referencing the brisket he made last year to compare it to a new brisket. This is in fact the same brisket that he made last year...
Jack is delusional about everything in life. He literally posted a video about parenting and how great a job he does, one of the examples he gave was a story about attempting to kill his son where he choked him unconscious with the intention of killing him and didn't stop even when his son was unconscious and bleeding from the nose. Jack is such a great person.
Remember, this is the same guy who seriously thought it was a good idea to go on a podcast and, without any regret, talk about when he choked his son nearly to death. Search “Sunday evening coffee episode 6” and start watching at the 27- or 28-minute mark and… enjoy? Oh, and what he says starting at around the 51-minute mark ain’t no better.
@Zguy09 not only did he brag about that, but then he went on to say that he kicked him out of the house hoping that he would have to sleep on a park bench and them come crawling back to Jack to apologize. Jack was upset that instead of being homeless, his parents took his son in to live with them. He basically disowned his son after that even telling the younger son that he had lost his brother to drugs. Remember, this was a teenager who was just smoking a little green. Jack tells that story of an example of how good of a Christian parent he is.
I love Jack's premise that he is supposedly _teaching_ *you* how to make this. Step 1: Leave a smoked brisket in your freezer for a year wrapped in tin foil. Step 2: Fill a crock pot with a bunch of cans and jars of vaguely Tex-mex stuff. Step 3: Accuse everyone else of cheating. Step 4: Vomit.

Brought like five gallons to the event, and folks devoured every drop. The ?impartial? judges awarded the prize to a ground-beef chili that tasted like sloppy joe mix. And this was in Texas (a college event, not a professional cook-off). So I kind of feel Jack's pain, but at the same time, his "chili" was a crime against humanity.
It gets even better when you realize that he said he cooked that brisket a YEAR prior to making that chili. That brisket had a shine to it, probably because it was freezer burned from being in a freezer for a whole YEAR.

Three days ago I endep up at the hospital because of food poisoning. Awfully painful, I don't wish that to anyone. (It was my fault, I ate something from the fridge that still tasted good but wasn't fresh enough. Can't blame anyone but myself, I don't have a "Jack" to pin it on...)
Probably because the church he goes to are one of those megachurches, not a traditional one with morals, values, and standards. Plus, he lives somewhere where the general population's tastes aren't all that refined.
When I was younger (circa 80’s), I used to get hold of those Italian horror films. The ones which were banned by the UK government for being “video nasties” and suspected snuff films (they weren’t). They were some of the most depraved, horrific things, I’ve ever seen…and they’re STILL not a patch of Jack’s videos!!!!!! Stay classy, Mr James… 😂
@@Saberwaisen “Giallo” is more “murder myster/psychological horror”. Most of those types of films I’m talking about are those zombies/cannibal films. They were just shock for shock-value.
@@jaylagan5899 Lucio Fulci was the man. You had to have seen Zombii or The Beyond if you were renting Italian "video nasties" back in the 80s. We called them "exploitation films" here in the US, though my generation (2000s) called them "torture porn."
Not only is Jack a terrible cook, but he has also been exposed as a child abuser. There is a video showing him talking about choking his son, as well as excusing it as being "discipline".
Actually, for the brisket, it's not just oxidation. That is a 18 months old cooked brisket which was kept in a freezer with only aluminum foil to keep is "sealed". The white spots on the bottom of that meat? Mold. So yes, by far, the brisket was worse than the canned produce.
Oh yeah? Well mold can't grow in a freezer that keeps the temps below 0°C. If you have mold in YOUR freezer you better check that it's actually working LMAO.
@@Corvx If it's a freezer like what you have with a fridge, there is actually a de-frosting cycle, which is made to prevent ice build-up inside. So yes, over the course of a year and a half, mold can develop in a perfectly fine freezer.
I didn't see chili powder or seasonings other than salt and pepper. That jarred garlic is crap too.. he could have used at least fresh garlic. Thanks for the video
I'm gonna be honest. At first I was on the fence about you (like a year ago), but you started to grow on me. I watched more and more of your videos and you've become one of the few channels that I watch regularly. The fact that you now "revealed" that you play video games cemented my appreciation of you as one of the best people on RUclips. I can't really explain why, but to me it made you more "real" than every other chef here, more relatable so to say. Please never change who you are and never stop making videos, educating and entertaining us! ❤️
This brings up a memory of how one of my friends won a church chili competition. The best thing was that he is Milanese, didn't know what chili was (he only knew it had ground beef and beans), made up his own recipe, and WON!
What Jack says: “I’m probably never entering the competition again” What Jack means: “I’m probably never going to be allowed to enter the competition again”
I can almost guarantee that this one is in the top-3. You don't work your equipment down like this unless you're either good at your craft or are absolutely incompetent, and with Jack around, the latter spot's already taken
@@eViLPaCccI’ve seen Kay have equipment looking like that. Just cause it looks used DONT make it “good”. It could mean they are careless and don’t take care of there equipment
if someone tries to make jack's chili recipe do they have to freeze the brisket for a year first? I would imagine that the people who won the chili cookoff probably used mostly fresh ingredients (like real onions, tomatoes, peppers, garlic) opposed to cooking 1 singular ingredient (and using a previously frozen one). and for the fallout show stuff, absolutely loved it. Probably one of the best adaptations of a video game to a show ever, not that that is a high margin sadly. For any fans that either fallout3 or new vegas is their favorites, gotta suggest the tale of two wastelands mod, it takes all of fallout3 and loads into new vegas's (slightly improved) system and you can play both with one character.
One of my neighbors makes a really wonderful black bean chili that starts with smoking the beans for 12 hours using specific types of wood. The sight of these plain canned beans slopped into the pot is just sad.
That sounds really good. The least Jack could have done was wash the beans to get rid of the can juices, those really ruin the taste and consistancy of any dish they go in.
@@mayastic9570 True. The juices in canned beans throw off the chilli flavor. I made vegetarian bean chili for 15 of us on Cinco de Mayo - I had 4 vegetarians in attendance. I did use 3 types of canned beans, rinsed, fresh butternut squash, mixed herbs and spices that I put together, sauteed onions, and since it was not tomato season, I went with the canned whole tomatoes. I would not have, otherwise. I hand shredded the cheeses for the toppings. Cooked the entire dish on the cooktop all day, on low to marry the flavors. The meal also provided a make-your-own taco bar, which also was quite useful as I hadn't known another attendee was allergic to legumes. My full-on meat eater ("vegetables are what food eats") ASKED to take some leftover vegetarian chilli home with her!! And, yes, had I made that with meat, it would have not been year old leftover freezer burnt meat.
What makes this Jack video so much more hilarious is how guarded he is around this "recipe", if you can even call that mess a recipe. 5 seconds on Google will bring up a MUCH better version of what he is attempting here. Comedy gold!
I prefer food contests that are judged by the public. I entered my pumpkin chili in a church chili contest and snd didn't win, but i know people liked it and that's all that matters.
This was the episode that made me realize that Jack is legitimately maybe not evil but not someone I would hold up in any positive light. Knowingly serving rancid meat in a chili to the public is immoral on so many levels.
I used to think like you when seeing this type of things. Surely people can't be THAT clueless, they must do it on purpose, right?... Right?? Well, turns out there are way more dumbasses than we'd like to think. Not saying that Jack is a good person, just that it's absolutely possible that he's just plain stupid. 🤷🏼♀️
@@MissTwoSetEncyclopedia There's something called the Dunning-Kruger effect and I think that's what in play here. Basically the less a person knows about a given subject, the more likely they are to overestimate their abilities in it. Basically Jack knows very little but his ego won't let him admit this, hence why he says he's an amazing chef. It really is fascinating and horrifying to see it in action.

No one will be able to comment on what Jack's chili tasted like. None of them survived, except for Jack, who has trained his stomach for many years to be able to digest his cooking.
@chefjamesmakinson .... here in the netherlands we cook 'zeeuwse mosselen' with onions (to see if they are okay, onions turn dark during boiling when not good to eat), then .... when okay I add chopped winter carrots and leek .... after the mussels are all opened up (discard the still cosed ones because they were dead to start with) .... I steam them in old brown beer (mostly Heineken oud bruin, because Heineken is too sweet too drink). Serving them in the pot with the veggies and mostly with french fries/hash browns/potato crocettes. My chilli is minced beef (80-20), diced onions, kidney beans, mcCormick) chilli powder, homemade tomato sauce, (when not serving with rice, I add some potatoes) .... most of the time less ingredients is best
There's something about this particular Jack video that just blows my mind more than the others. Like, if he wants to cook and eat his own bizarre creations is one thing, but he shows here he has no problem taking out a green, full year old brisket and being like "yeah this is the thing everyone will love".
Oh fudge yes! Been waiting for your insights into this infamy. The fact that Jack used more-than-a-year-old meat that's been showing signs of quality and safety deterioration, a mix of ingredients that may and may not go well for chili and still cooked and served it in a public setting while being oh-so overconfident that he'll win then be a moany Matty when he lost is beyond me.
@@GTSE2005 Frenchy from Chef Brian’s 2nd reaction said he’s seen some vacuum packed meat still turn ugly meaning Jack needed real great safety tips to even come close to preserving that brisket
The first time I watched Cooking with Jack Show was from a channel called August the Duck where Jack was making wet and dry brine chicken and the way Jack made it was so bad, I don't want to give spoiler, you must see the video from Jack's channel on wet and dry brine chicken.
As someone who has a very sensitive stomach in an hour I would be in the hospital. I had people who did similar shite and spend ten days in the hospital , I really do hope no one suffered too much.
A few things: So Jack says not to use ground beef, but he’s basically using ground pork since he’s using sweet Italian sausage, which he’s clearly just crumbled after cooking. Also the seasonings in Italian sausage do not work in chili. Apparently there were a couple news reports from the chili bowl that people were throwing Jack’s chili in the bin. That’s what I saw from some comments but I’ve never been able to find the reports myself Jack claimed he chopped the chipotle peppers in adobo sauce but you could clearly see when he took them out that they were already chopped Jack complained about them letting everyone else vote, but that’s how all chili cook offs work (at least all the ones I’ve seen) You can tell how bitter Jack is about losing, he’s always thought of himself as the greatest cook ever, despite 0 knowledge, so whenever someone proves he’s not as good as he thinks, he acts like a child in a huff.
Starts by saying how delicious this brisket was and how everyone loved it. Then reveals that he threw it in the freezer and forgot about it a year ago.
I know the mystery meat and weird mix of caned goods is the shocking part, but I'm kinda used to that from my in-laws parties. :p What stood out to me is that he didn't even brown the onions and garlic. I never even saw a recipe where you just cooked garlic and onion without at least a little maillard.
I was there with my family and I was previously aware of Jacks cooking so when I saw him around (and he mostly just hung around pot #1) we just avoided it
For anyone curious on *good* additions to chili-Mexican style chorizo. Packs flavor and spice, and makes an otherwise average chili just that much better.
He's bragging that he isn't doing anything! Canned beans. Jarred salsa. Canned tomato paste. Even preminced garlic! I still think he's spoofing us. To quote John McEnroe "you cannot be serious "
I am by no means a chef, but I have never seen anyone put corn in chili. Or black beans. You couldn’t pay me to try anything that Jack makes. No one is out there copying his recipes
😂😂😂 the train wreck with the expired, and potentially not well preserved brisket chili!! I feel like putting it on high for it to warm through, then lowering it down to a simmer for a few hours more than 1-2 would’ve given you a slight chance of wining. To me his chili in my opinion is not safe for consumption by the public, and if you want to risk it; then maybe it’s jack safe… but that’s about it. 9:00
I'm convinced he's trolling at this point. Either that or someone should report him to the authorities. You serve people meat that you cooked a YEAR ago that is literally turning green?
When he said "remember that brisket I made last year?" I thought he made it again but in classic jack fashion, it was actually the brisket he made a year ago
The leftover meat is very concerning to me because I would usually cook the meat as soon as possible or I would cook it a few days after so it wouldn’t expire. The number of memes in this video makes it 10 times funnier and it made me forget about it!
Im also concerned that most ingredients will sit around for days. Like his "garbage stew". Like hes the person to just buy new things all the time instead of using up the stuff he already has. His fridge must be a bacterial/fungal paradize

(It was my fault, I ate something from the fridge that still tasted good but wasn't fresh enough. Can't blame anyone but myself, I don't have a "Jack" to pin it on...)
How was Jack not excommunicated for this?
One of the many mysteries of the universe.
😂
Probably because the church he goes to are one of those megachurches, not a traditional one with morals, values, and standards. Plus, he lives somewhere where the general population's tastes aren't all that refined.
@@canaisyoung3601 I technically attend a megachurch. We have morals, values and standards. Don't lump the good with the bad.
😂😂 thank you!
Giallo the name of those italian films.
@@Saberwaisen “Giallo” is more “murder myster/psychological horror”. Most of those types of films I’m talking about are those zombies/cannibal films. They were just shock for shock-value.
@@jaylagan5899 I love those Italian exploitation films from the '70s and '80s. Especially the most low-budget ones. So nasty, yet so creative.

Mold in a freezer? Doubt it.
Oh yeah? Well mold can't grow in a freezer that keeps the temps below 0°C. If you have mold in YOUR freezer you better check that it's actually working LMAO.
@@Corvx This is JACK we’re talking about. I refuse to believe that freezer wasn’t moldy.

The only thing he did right was saying I am never making this recipe again. Everything else recived less effort and energy
Thank you so much! I will try, RUclips is not getting any easier
I wouldn't have eaten that "chilli" for a million €. 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢

Me as well.
What’s the point of money if you won’t be around after eating it
This brings up a memory of how one of my friends won a church chili competition. The best thing was that he is Milanese, didn't know what chili was (he only knew it had ground beef and beans), made up his own recipe, and WON!
Some might say the chili tasted like heaven. Sadly the dead can't talk to confirm.

Aside from Jack's green beef, check out the horrifying condition of the crock pot next to his at the event.🤢
I can almost guarantee that this one is in the top-3. You don't work your equipment down like this unless you're either good at your craft or are absolutely incompetent, and with Jack around, the latter spot's already taken

@nicolainielsen7700 it was actually green.
if someone tries to make jack's chili recipe do they have to freeze the brisket for a year first?
I've long hoped that Jack just means that this brisket is like the one he made the year before, but how much of that can explain the anomalies?
What makes this Jack video so much more hilarious is how guarded he is around this "recipe", if you can even call that mess a recipe. 5 seconds on Google will bring up a MUCH better version of what he is attempting here. Comedy gold!
True that, he was sounding *protective* of it if you ask me.
The most concerning thing is that the brisket bark was sparkling
"I don't cheat" .. uses 85% canned/pre-seasoned ingredients. Good grief.
“You remember the brisket I made last year”. That is the biggest red flag I’ve ever seen😂😂😂
This and the "still kickin' chicken" are Jacks magnum opus.
Fallout is possibly the best ever video game adaptation. Whole cast is good and Goggins had better win some awards.
Oh, he's evil. Dude openly and PROUDLY admitted to physically abusing his son on a podcast.
he just doesn't know
I used to think like you when seeing this type of things.
Don’t ascribe to evil what can better be explained by stupidity. The man just isn’t the brightest crayon in the box.

*Narrator voice*: It was that bad
Thank you. Reaction to Jack's cooking is a perfect video to watch while fasting. Really "motivated" me. I'm not hungry anymore.
I feel like there are some things even love can't fix.
The fact that Jack used more-than-a-year-old meat that's been showing signs of quality and safety deterioration, a mix of ingredients that may and may not go well for chili and still cooked and served it in a public setting while being oh-so overconfident that he'll win then be a moany Matty when he lost is beyond me.
yeah normally you don't want to use meat that's been in the freezer that long especially if wrapped like he did

can't believe I missed that, I'm usually on top of unintentional innuendo because I am very mature.
😮😅😂
I didn't mean it any other way, I prefer to have a steak or chicken then lettuce :)
A few things:
So Jack says not to use ground beef, but he’s basically using ground pork since he’s using sweet Italian sausage, which he’s clearly just crumbled after cooking. Also the seasonings in Italian sausage do not work in chili.
Apparently there were a couple news reports from the chili bowl that people were throwing Jack’s chili in the bin. That’s what I saw from some comments but I’ve never been able to find the reports myself
Jack claimed he chopped the chipotle peppers in adobo sauce but you could clearly see when he took them out that they were already chopped
Jack complained about them letting everyone else vote, but that’s how all chili cook offs work (at least all the ones I’ve seen)
You can tell how bitter Jack is about losing, he’s always thought of himself as the greatest cook ever, despite 0 knowledge, so whenever someone proves he’s not as good as he thinks, he acts like a child in a huff.
Corn in Chilli, what garbage.
felt like he was cooking for a US prison the way he used 18 month old briskets.
That would be cruel and unusual punishment.
Starts by saying how delicious this brisket was and how everyone loved it. Then reveals that he threw it in the freezer and forgot about it a year ago.
Thanks For this! Always look forward to your videos ❤❤❤❤
I know the mystery meat and weird mix of caned goods is the shocking part, but I'm kinda used to that from my in-laws parties. :p What stood out to me is that he didn't even brown the onions and garlic. I never even saw a recipe where you just cooked garlic and onion without at least a little maillard.
Jack might have the strongest immune system of any human being living in a 1st world country on the planet.
I was there with my family and I was previously aware of Jacks cooking so when I saw him around (and he mostly just hung around pot #1) we just avoided it
I'm so glad you played it safe. Him hovering around the pot was a clue and I'm not surprised since he's a beast on winning.
