@@Neekogo Fully agree. Going to read that source as I call complete BS on that one. Everything else makes sense.

So what do you do if you buy a car out of state and drive it back home over 400 miles? Vary your speed on the highway or what?

I never let my truck get below a quarter tank even with 126,000 miles

I had never heard of the don’t drive at a constant speed until very recently. I bought a new Lexus NX350h this month with 2 miles on the odometer and I was going through the manual to find something else and came on the break in period and saw the speed advice. I remember mentioning it to someone else later that day because I had never heard that. What did surprise me is that the manual didn’t mention anything about an oil change and even the Lexus first 5k service doesn’t mention an oil change until the 10k. I will definitely get an oil change at 5k if not sooner.

Great tips for any car or vehicle. Amazing just how much you can learn by just reading the manual. Great content always enjoyable and factual. Keep up the good work you do as we the consumers rely on advice.

Speaking of "the manual"....all vehicles should come in a manual!

Let me add some info to your first comment, I took a tour of the GM plant in Dallas back in the seventies. The were building NOVA police cars. As soon as that thing came of the assembly line the shot so gas in it, fired it up and put the pedal to the floor and held it there for about 20 seconds. They were on a dyno, but damn! BTW, I call BS on "too many electronics".

How many miles is considered "break in" period?
