Fantastic demo. Your playing, the different amps, demonstrates how versatile that guitar is. I thought I even heard a little Gretsch but that might be the Chet Atkins style playing. I didn’t detect that nasal character that I keep hearing from the PRS factory demos. Maybe it is coming from their amps after all? 🙏
After seeing several online videos of this instrument I knew it was pinnacle guitar art. Every tonal option is absolutely brilliant. There is the tele that comes close to the telly sounds this guitar makes. Single coil sounds are in credible. The clarity of the tones shines like a bell. Do you have everything else in between, and Clapton to Townsend to BB and Duane. it feels absolutely perfect in the hand. I sold a one off custom-made G&L legacy and a hot rodded flame top Gibson Nighthawk and my American Strat to get it and two years later I have no regrets.
It's my main guitar as well - I modded it of course - isolated the middle narrowfield, added a series parallel mini toggle for said narrowfield, added a pre-amp with an on/off toggle and bright switch exactly like the PRS Super Eagle these are loosely based off of. Changed the treble bleed cap value for a better volume taper more to taste (I don't like my tone mellowing out so much when reducing the volume). I also blocked the trem, which makes it sound better, and sustain longer, but I do miss the trem capabilities somewhat.
i have the clone of this guitar, including color - but you play it a heck of a lot better than I do! Thanks for the demo and letting me know what's possible.
Great demo. I have a wood library version of this guitar and it's the best guitar I've ever played. I agree with the near field pup interfering with normal picking - that's my only gripe - but after a year I've gotten used to it. It's a small trade off I can live with ;-) Thinking about a 594, possibly semi hollow to compliment/backup.
Just ordered one of these today without ever playing one. Not always a recipe for success, but it’s a PRS so I’m not worried about getting a dud. I decided I’d comment because I just finished the part where you mentioned why it wasn’t the guitar for you - namely the fact the Narrowfield is positioned right where you would normally pick. That is definitely something I’m nervous about. This won’t be my first guitar with a middle pickup, but will be the first with HB in both the neck and bridge. The tonal variety of the Special was too difficult to pass up though; plus, scored a pretty good deal on a brand new 2024. Fingers crossed. 🤞 Great playing. 👍
I’ve had this guitar for about a year now and it definitely tripped me up a little bit for a while but I’ve gotten used to it and wouldn’t trade this guitar for anything!

How are you dealing with hum with your Strats? Live in an area with jacked up power and started using a brown box and a suhr system. Miss my Strats though. R u using some kind of stacked singles. I’ve been on a quest to get a Strat with humbuckers but not having luck finding the right combo. Also love the middle position of my 335. But when you only have one tone or one volume it’s not the same. Then I miss my Strats and trem. Miss the middle pickup alone too. Usually wire tone to neck and bridge and bypass reverse wound middle for more treble and clarity. Need to try this guitar. You can usually find a good clean neck, or a great bridge but hard to find both for clean and gain. Great playing man!
