Wow that A-10 intro splash screen loading up REALLY took me back to the Windows 95 or 98 days playing this on my dad's computer... damn I miss those days If only I could play this on my modern PC with Ultrawide resolution being able to see out the far left and right, that would be amazing
Badjoe117 . actually I think I bought A-10 Tank Buster which I'm assuming was a later mod. I must have lost it and then picked up Cuba to play. I would have bought it in 1998 when I bought my old PII 400 computer (which was top of the line then lol)
Played this as a kid. I remember trying to find cheat codes that would enable me to fly the enemy aircraft & being bummed out when i couldn't find any because to me the other planes were way cooler than the A-10s lol. I'm not sure if i ever completed any of the missions because i was just that young. I just remember the "go cry to your momma" voice after a failed mission haha

Yeah it was pretty hard to judge the distance to the terrain below as there are very few features in some areas. But at least there are some trees on the ground and waves on the water so you can sort of see how high you are.

My first flight sim was Microsoft Flight sim 95, but A-10 Cuba was definitely my second and most played for sure. And like you I had no idea how anything worked or what it did, but it was a hell of a lot of fun to just fly around, flying through the tunnel and other things like that.
I loved this game as well. I used to hate the scenario when you had to blow up the facility at the reactor. I could never figure out how to get in there without getting the shit blown out of me by the AA.
I only had the demo of this. I remember always setting the plane up super light so that I could take off straight from the hanger without using the runway - which would allow me to catch up with the b52's and shoot them down - Good times
I played this game so much when I was 10yo, I remember wishing I had a game where I could fly the faster jets. But this was all I could get my hands on as a kid in Africa. Then I got my hands on F/A-18 Hornet 2.0 and played the hell out of that too. Funny thing now is I fly the A4 on DCS world and consider myself a mud mover more than air combat ace… I guess the A10 foundation defined me.
I always felt the same, I always wondered what it would be like to fly the jets you see in the various missions, especially the ones with afterburners. Though in the end I have also sort of always been all about ground attack as well haha.

@@Badjoe117 Yes Apache Longbow was from 1995 for DOS. DI later made a Win95 version of it. Hind came out in 1996 in the UK and early 1997 in the US it could be played in either DOS or Win95. Both of them later were available with 3D accelerated enhancements for 3Dfx cards like the Voodoo 1 and Voodoo 2 in the Front Line Fighters pack which also had a 3D accelerated version of iF-16. There was also a patch too so Hind could be upgraded to 3D accelerated graphics. I am not sure if they had such a patch for Apache Longbow though. Of those games Hind was perhaps the best and most refined of those 3. I also remember that landing the Apache was tricky and very sensitive too.

I got into the game files (it was windows-based) and swapped the MiG sound wavs for a V8 sound. Also, toggle switches, cockpit sounds for Looney Tunes sound effects. Hilarity ensued.
Me and my mate swapped the A10 gun sound for him farting and the F16 was swapped for his dog barking, as you say, it was hilariousbut got annoying real fast!

Got the game from Classic Gaming Network and it works great on Windows 8.1. Works best unpatched. Patching it makes my XBox 360 controller stop working. As long as I'm playing the 1.0 version it plays fine... sound and all. Have fun!

You can add games and programs to your steam library by clicking the "Add game" button and then "add non steam game". I have not been able to find a list for the controls for this game online. I might look it up though, and post them if I find them.
If anyone likes these visuals, the game Tiny Combat Arena is a new early-access flight sim that looks just like this, just with sharper aliasing and much better draw distances. It's amazing. Check it out.
I run it on Windows 7 and I can't remember any problems with sound. But I looked it up quickly and I found that some people have had problems with sound on XP. It could just be me, but so far I'm surprised at how well win7 runs old games.

I don't remember where I found it, but there was a download somewhere that was compatible with modern computers. As for video capture Fraps worked back in this older version, but I also started using Dxtory in the newer A-10 Cuba videos which worked better.

This was the first game that required my parents to hide my PC when I was 12. I wish I could meet the devs, this game ruined any unrealistic game for me from that point on
I had a similar experience, I had played some other flight sims before this one. But it was A-10 Cuba that was the first one I was taking more seriously and actually try and learn how to fly. As a kid I still remember dropping my landing gear at high speed and was thinking. "Why can you only put down the landing gear once?" haha

Unfortunately I don't think this game is on steam or ever was. I just used it as a shortcut on steam. So you'll have to search around for it and see if you can find a version that works. Hopefully they will add it to GOG.com one day.
Hmm, I don't remember what I did to run the game without errors and such. But I commented someone a while ago and suggested looking for the 1.2 patch. I think that might fix it.
Awesome link, my game ran perfectly well until I recently tried playing it again after updating to Win 10. But this version works more or less flawlessly right off the bat. I was curious as I'm uploading a few new videos of all the levels, but could I put that link in my videos? Just so people could download a functioning version easily if they want to try out the game.
Sorry to hear that, might possibly be a workaround somewhere. Though the game is not the most common one so I doubt it. And sadly I can't be of any help as I don't own a Mac.
It'd be faster and probably more reliable to get Win98 running in a VM on a modern Mac. Pre-OS X applications haven't been supported in any way since the mid-late 2000s. There are OS 9-compatible VMs out there but they're nowhere nearly as reliable as Windows-compatible VMs.
I don't actually remember what program it was sadly. But I searched around back then and stumbled upon a version compatible with Win 10. Might still be out there somewhere if you look for it.

It has been a while since I installed it, but all I remember is that I downloaded it from the link I provided in the description and just ran the game. Runs perfectly for me. There might be a guide on how to run it on win7, if you can't run it.
Hmm, even though I have played it recently I don't remember exactly. But I think you just select the correct pylon and set master mode to ccip or pave for laserguided bombs, and then just use the weapon release key.
I think you need to have the mastermode set to pave for that, the pave penny pod will then pick up the laser designated targets. And even then the target symbols are really odd in the way that sometimes they are there and other times they are not. Especially on the bridge mission it can take forever for the bridge to be lased before fading away again. Once it comes up though you just press TAB I think to select the target. Overall I find bombs to be very hard to use in that game so I barely use them unless I have to bomb a large structure like the bridge.
If you Guys never found A10 Cuba for XP and Win 7 let me know, and I'll send you a link to my FTP server. You can download it there... :) I love the game... Requires skill and practice...

the problem is not to drop the bomb. the laserguided bombs never hit the target. I see never the target symbols ( for example the bridge at 11:00 )

It runs even on Windows 10 so thats great. And while I trust that link and it has worked for me without problems without any emulator, it is not my link though and I'm not sure who put it there so download at your own risk.

Thanks for the link. I installed the game and everything works except the sound and most important of all: I can't push the throttle of the engines. the '+' doesn't work. Do you have any solutions?
