Letting go of toxic friendships has been the most liberating thing for me. START spending time only with the people who lift you up and encourage you. It’s life changing.
@@micheleann6099 it's not to say I didn't have a hard time with it. These we're friends I had for 40 years ! I only now understand now that they were my jailers, but ... I have the key! Free your self, get rid of them.
I hadn't realised that until watching this, that I haven't stopped anything. I am 70 in a few days, and I decided I will sell my car and buy a van, I can build a bed and cupboards and fit it out how I want . then I am going to travel my country, become what we call in Australia a grey nomad. I will still keep my unit because I want to be warm in winter and stay home in our very hot summers with my aircon. my kids think I a hippy, well I guess I am. and happy with my life.
Hi my name is Colleen and I am 62. I have been living like I am on the down slope of life. As if I had to get everything finished and resolved. Margaret I love listening to you, there is that spark that makes me smile. Today, your presentation/video is exactly what I have been trying to put into words and put into some kind of order to make sense of it all. I work online as a digital business mentor and coach. Because of my work I am alone much of the time. You have helped me put a few things into perspective. Thank you, I am very grateful and thank full for you today! My take away today is that I now have a map to help me wake up and be ‘in’ my 60’s.
I love everything you said. GREAT ideas. What I'm going to start is this:embracing my age of 69. I worry a little too much over all the aging changes and what time I have left etc. etc. I want to work on embracing, loving, and taking in every moment. I absolutely love and adore retirement, but now it's time to embrace every moment of it. Thank you for all of your inspiring words if wisdom!!
This past year has been especially hard with loss and health issues. I couldn't sleep at all a few days ago and stayed up just thinking. My goal this new year is to just be happy.
I love this channel and you!!! One of the things that I started to do was to forgive .I'm 62. Five years ago my marriage blew up and it nearly destroyed me. It was the most deep hurt I had ever experienced, but out of that experience came an amazing transformation personally and in my marriage. I believe that when we truly have peace and joy inside of us, we will shine that to others. Developing true self love will create a desire to treat yourself in healthy ways to include embracing our age with grace. After going through the long process of forgiving my husband ( I did a LOT of research and self work), I now forgive very quickly and easily and it is very freeing and that is just one of the great things about getting older. Also stopped highlighting my hair, use only natural products on my body, buy good jeans that hug my body, well made bras, a daily art practice and the gym daily to keep strong.
shawn I also experienced a deep hurt and disappointment two years ago. I married for the first time at the age of 58 and thought I had chosen wisely only to find out that there are no guarantees in life, obviously, but the betrayal left me devastated and I am only now two years later ready to forgive. But I will never forgive again. What is it that give people the power to take away parts of you and leave you in distress for months/years ? I guess you can blame yourself for being naive and trustworthy. So without loosing myself, I salute the “stop the pleasing” and start doing what I want.
Dear Anna, I can relate...I was terribly hurt and can't even talk to a family member because of betrayal. I have forgiven her, but just had to move on from the toxic state she is in....I pray for her daily and do love and miss her.
@@pattiallen1115 You make a good point here. Forgiveness doesn't necessarily require reestablishing the relationship, but with toxic people it could mean severing the tie to the person but also letting go of the hurt, the resentment, the desire for revenge. These can keep you tied to that toxic relationship even if you never see the person again. They live in your mind!! They steal your joy!! They drag you down!! Let it all go and start to live. (By the way, I'm 80 next month. It's taken me a long time to learn to do this, but I hope I have some more years to learn to let the joy in!)
I have started encouraging my daughter in law, I love her dearly. And so now I tell her so, and tell her how she is such a wonderful woman, wife and mother. I let her know she is enough ! I tell her how Much she has improved my life because she is in it.
@@karaa7595 maybe no one told your mother those things either...try to tell yourself the wonderful things that are true about you. I've learned this is what I have to do for myself too. May you be blessed.
Margaret, I did too many years ago. Ask your doctor to refer you to a dietitian to help you get on the right path. I think you'll find the appointment will be really helpful, and hopeful. I'll pray for your fast recovery.
Margaret, I hope you feel you have a network of women thru Sixty and Me who are with you on this journey and are here for you. Wishing you a healthy and speedy recovery.
Margaret Gerth Best of luck to you on your journey. I’m with you on the direction you’re taking with your health. I had breast cancer surgery in September and finished radiation a month ago. I’m doing the same as you with my health.
I have found that setting boundaries is paramount, however, it isn't necessary to speak out with opinion or advice and is not advised unless someone reaches out to you for it. I have discovered this the hard way, and lost a sister who was losing herself, not realizing that I couldn't save her from herself, but I thought I could save her. Though I feel that I had to try.
That's funny. I am the opposite. I will continue to keep quiet so as not to offend anyone. This way I can avoid confrontations, disagreements, conflict, etc. I feel I am more open minded, thoughtful, diplomatic and less likely to make snap judgements than I used to be.
LOVELY!!!!! SO NICE TO HEAR YOUR ENGLISH VOICE MY DEAR. I LEFT LONDON IN 1952 AND STILL HAVE MY BRITISH ACCENT, OF WHICH I AM VERY PROUD. I MEET FEW BRITS, BUT LOVE THE ENGLISH MENTALITY, WHEN I DO....SO. POLITE, EMPATHETIC, FRIENDLY AND UNDERSTANDING, A GREAT JOY ALWAYS....A N D... SO I SEND MY WARMEST CHRISTMAS GREETINGS TO YOU. YOU ARE INDEED A PLEASURE TO ALL OF US.... AND ......I LOVE TO BE ALONE AT CHRISTMAS....I CAN REFLECT AND THINK OF MY BELOVED HUSBAND AND MY DARLING DAUGHTER WHOm I LOST LAST JANUARY TO CANCER...MY FAMILY ARE NOW FEW AND FAR AWAY, BUT WE ARE VERY CLOSE, AND KEEP IN TOUCH ALMOST EVERY FEW DAYS...SO THE LOVE NEVER CEASES....But I am alone and that;s fine with me....I make the best of life...Happy Christmas to you dear friend. I AM NOW 88 1/2 AND AM AS FASHIONABLE AS I ALWAYS WAS!!!! LOVE IT!!!! Hahaha! I honestly love to be alone at Christmas, and reflect on those happy memories I have.I am not sad at all.....I LOVE my time alone, and look forward to the new year immensely.God bless you and yours. You are my Mince pie and sausage rolls connection. My Mum too!!!!! used to make them, and we put sixpenny pieces in the Christmas puds she made......Happy days....even the War days.... Happy Christmas everybody💋💋💋💋🌲🇬🇧🇨🇭🇺🇸
I’m right with you on the “stop buying black” and “start sparkling”! Those would be my two intentions for this year. By the way, you are stunning in that sweater and colorful necklace!
This has been a challenge for me too. I love black but it doesn’t work as well as it used to. It is a challenge to find beautiful colored clothes. I started to sew again so I could make beautiful clothes with color. I’m certainly not a pro but I can do some simple pieces for myself.
YES....have started that too...am sick of sooo much stuff!!!...yes..seen the clips from Joshua and other minimalists...like them but not going as far as them. And...I wear black all the time..and love It!.
DMT CM9035 -definitely. I can dead lift 232 lbs, back squat 125 lbs and bench 102 lbs. only been lifting for 10 months and I’ve increased my maximums steadily. Goal is to deadlift at least 250 lbs.
I'm three days away from completing a no spend year. January and February required constant thought to overcome careless spending habits. By March it was much easier and now it's just second nature. I started my no spend year as an interesting experiment but I've loved the results. It's been an amazing year. And I didn't start it for this reason but I'm now debt free. It's wonderful.
@@jainthorne4136 tell me what you did spend on please !! Food, utilities, rent only? I have to allow for pet food. But explain!! I really am going to try this. TY so much. Happy New year.
I'm a guy and I'm going to really try to stop the unnecessary groaning ever time I get up from doing something on my knees. It just reinforces the feeling of getting old.
I thought I was the only one that this bothered. My husband moans and groans and huffs and puffs every time he has to wipe something off the floor. It drives me nuts! I agree. It is so annoying and it doesn't help anything.
I agree with most of what you said. I am 71, and have been taking ballroom dance lessons since I retired 5 years ago. I embrace my age, in fact, I am grateful every morning I awaken. Not too many are that blessed. There are 2 words I would like erased from the dictionary and in everyone’s vocabulary: Anti aging! There’s no such thing, ladies, please spread the word! 🙏😍👏🏻
I'm going to stop worrying so much about outward appearances. Today I was so busy with packing for a move that I ignored my hair and makeup. I felt free in my anonymity and I didn't care what anyone thought about how I looked.
Lynn Ducker I have a dog and I take better care of her health and diet than I do my own. So I am going to start treating myself as well as I treat my dog. This will be tough as I LOVE my dog, but I will do my best! I once heard that if you are going to make a change you should tell other people. So I will tell my family about this tomorrow as we will all be together.
I'm going to start accepting invitations even if i won't know anyone there. Feal the fear and do it anyway. I'm going to be the fearless giel that I've lost
Yes! Get the fearless gal back! Then you will think of other ways you can be fearless. We often lose our true connection to ourselves due to all of our roles, marriage, children working etc. Now is the time.
Yes, a rule I have is always go where you are invited. Surprise. Make others feel important. If I have an event and invite people, I hope they come, some do not because I am not important enough.
I'm 63 and have been retired for 3 years. The biggest thing I've stopped doing is wearing makeup and I'll tell you why. If you paint a wall in your house, then the other 3 walls will look crappy. I want people to see me sans makeup and get used to all the wrinkles and age spots etc. I only wear a little neutral lipstick or stain if I go out. It's also helping me accept my aging self because when I wash my face I still look like me afterwards. No huge contrast from makeup to no makeup. That can be scary! I think it makes me more genuine and it helps me accept and love the real me, not the painted up me. I also quit coloring my hair a forty year old's color I've colored my hair since I was 18 and I still get my hair done every six weeks, but my stylist is blending different gray highlights and sometimes for fun she'll even throw in a little blue or purple. We have fun with it, but I didn't want a stark contrast from my hair color and aging skin. And lastly, I don't put up with people's expectations and nonsense. I've always marched to my own drummer, but I don't have to say yes to every request and I like that my time is my own now. I've paid my dues to the rest of the world and this time is mine. I've earned it.
Elizabeth Page Great comment! I am with you all the way. When I went into peri menopause I basically lost my eyelashes and stopped wearing makeup. Now that I am in full menopause there is no way I am going to wear makeup and have it sweat off my face. I also had hair down to the middle of my back 5 years ago and cut it all off, and never regretted it and never felt so free. I feel when you aren’t a slave to your face and hair there more time for more creative endeavours.
Dear Margaret.....your energy and spirit just shone through this entire video....it was quite inspiring and stimulating......it makes me want to move on with my life but I have had alot to deal with this whole past year. May need another knee replacement after just 3 yrs. because of injuries in a car accident 1 yr. ago next week. The various injuries, PT, acupuncture and daily pain have been taking up all of my time, and physical and emotional energy. I need to get past this, hopefully in this new year, so I can move forward with doing things I enjoy....hiking, bike riding, snow shoeing, and trying out what were new cross country skiis I bought just before this accident. Orthopedist thinks this has probably messed up my knee prosthesis which may very likely mean another knee replacement and will get results of a scan probably tomorrow. There's so much I need to do..... declutter and plane on figuring out if I will be able to keep my house and/or buy a tiny house in the country where I would live. My physical treatments and winning this accident related lawsuit both have to be done with before I can relocate and make practical plans for my future, let alone what I will say " no" to or "yes" to and what I will do in my life. None of this was my fault and it has robbed me of 2019.....including 2 part-time jobs......don't know how much it will take of 2020. And I'll be 69 the middle of next month! I know people have worse health problems, but life is short for all of us and I'm getting angry and depressed from the pain and all my lost time spent going to various treatments.....now adding chiropractic and therapy for the depression from pain and breaking up from a (narcissistic) relationship of 5yrs. I will try and keep you and the content of this video as my inspiration to keep pushing forward and get my life back. Thank you for your positive energy and good vibrations. Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year !
I am going to start taking care of me ! With 6 children it is so ingrained in me to put everyone else first that there is often nothing left for me. Even now that they are grown, it is difficult to shake off that mindset. It's the year of me 🙂
Love this Margaret! Among other things I am going to stop the regrets. They pointlessly suck the joy out of memories and the life out of today. I will focus on today and make sure I'm not creating potential regret fodder for tomorrow. Sparkle on!
As women we come in all sizes and shapes, curvy, fluffy etc....embrace it! As a personal stylist I suggest that you should dress to your body...learn what works for your shape. Last year when I turned 60, I decided to be sixty and sensational.....and leave a trail of glitter (and sparkle) in all aspects in my life. I jumped out there recently and started my RUclips channel, I stopped talking about it and did it! Margaret, you are such an inspiration to me!
I just recently began using concealer and honestly have hated it! Seems to accentuate wrinkles under my eyes. I’m stopping it now. I’m 51 but really enjoy your channel and choose to sparkle now!
I am a ppl pleaser..I have already began the process to stop. I've been a widow for two years now and very, very lonely ~ soooo I would like to start being intentional about reaching out to others to do things🤔
I started a novel this year. I won NaNoWriMo this November and my goal is to finish the draft I started during NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) on Christmas Day. 2019 started as misery but that misery has led me to do what I always wanted to do, write. You have been an inspiration for me. Thank you for all that you do.
I love your statement, “It’s not a resolution, it’s an intention.”! I’ve just started watching your videos and am really enjoying them. All the best for a happy, peaceful, healthy new year!
I am going to start pleasing myself, I am 68 in January and I have always tried to keep everyone around me happy( at my own expense), now it’s going to be about me. I just never wanted to hurt anyone’s feeling and have never stood up for myself. I am going to try, thank you for the good thoughts
Joyce McKelvrey I love this! I have been the same (I’m 47) and I am starting to believe when I’m happy the ones around me who love me are happy as well:)) as for the others they can either get over it or move on. Happiness is contagious right? ☺️ Best wishes to you!!
I want to start laughing more often, find the joy and humor in moments. I want to start spending more intentional time with friends I love. I want to start enjoying the presence of God and his love in every heartbeat. Thanks for your uplifting video today.
Wonderful ideas but start phrasing everything in the positive!!! Eg. 1) please yourself first 2) live in the present 3) praise and compliment yourself ! 4) embrace change 5) leave the ruminating to the cows and be a little more spontaneous
I'm struggling with depression and anxiety after my parents' recent deaths and my spouse's stage 5 Alzheimer's. And I'm working with a coach to get my first book published. This video is encouraging. Thank you.
I love my new knee and played tennis today. I’m never going to quit trying to be the best player I can be. Tennis evokes a passion in me. Tennis makes me feel young. Then I stop and everything hurts!🥴
I am going to stop worrying about what people think of me and start doing what makes me happy. I want to become that person who feels the fear but does it anyway. Thank you Margaret for your wonderful, inspiring group!!
So glad you are going to sparkle . I’ve always worn lurex and sequins . Wonderful to hear you are embracing colour . Your skin looks fab . 😊💞 start , even if they do judge and criticise . Start not giving a toss .
Thank you for this much needed push or permission to take care of me. I turned 60 this year and I'm still finding it difficult to allow myself to say no, or have a voice, or something as simple as taking a break. Thank you for putting it all in perspective. I am excited to make my list of things to start doing, or stop doing. Thank you!!!! And I would have never guessed your age, you look amazing.
I am turning 60 this year and I love it!! I already felt that I was going to START DOING WHAT I WANTED, as much as humanly possible. Because IF NOT NOW, WHEN!!!????
I am 68 and have always panicked about being in during winter because we live to garden and landscape, so this year I did something new for me....filled my house with beautiful greenery. What a difference it made for me. The snow will fall, but I have a jungle! I hesitated because I am a minimalist and was worried about cluttering with the plants, but I congregated most in my mud room, on the walls. I got hooked watching house plant youtube videos, learning about them first.
My daughter said to stop fighting my wild hair. “Just own it, Mom”. I think that applies to a lot of things. I need to just own who I am. The red is gorgeous on you, Margaret.
I have wild, frizzy, tightly curled hair. In my natural state, I look like a wild woman and I am NOT a wild woman. Maybe I will "own it" someday, but for now I still straighten it every day. I am getting tired of doing it, though.
I stopped colouring my hair a few years ago and now with the shutdowns anyway a lot of others have started to do the same. I say, “ be yourself,” Besides, you’ll be surprised at how much money you’ll save in salon fees! 😂 White is the new black. ♥️
Barbara Riley - she didn’t say she went into bars to pick up guys. I believe what Jill Montgomery is saying is that she’s not afraid to do things alone. There was really no need for your snarky comment. 🌷
Interesting the difference in energy between "stop" and "start". I suppose it's easier to stop doing or thinking something than it is to start doing or thinking something completely new. Words to think on.
I just turned 63. Despite aches and pains every now and then, I’m in shape and still active. My passion for dancing, may have attribute to it. Oh yes, add colors! I agree w/u on that. Nice to be colorful (in a subtle way not flamboyant). When you look good, you feel good!
I’m starting to get fit! And, I’m having fun doing it. I practice with Kat Kabira’s videos on this channel and Yoga JP videos on RUclips. I’m getting ready to start meeting new people now that I’ve moved cross country. I like the idea of sparkling... something to think about. I just bought cute dresses and shirts for my little nieces for Christmas. They all wanted sparkles! I’m going to start embracing me inner child! 💫🌟⭐️✨💥
I’m going to start exercising more, yes ,wearing more colour and more patterns, not just plains, I’m going to start liking what I see in myself more, I’m going to stop impulse buying clothes that by the time I get around to wearing, I realise that I really don’t like them, and I’m going to learn to say no, instead of yes when I really don’t want to. Well Margaret, you certainly have given me food for thought, I can relate to everything you mentioned, we are the same age , you and I, and I’ve never had a mid life crisis, that is until I hit the big 70 and it hit me like a ton of bricks, so my main thing is I’m not going to let this age thing get me down anymore, it’s just a number and I should be embracing it. Thank you for a great topic. Merry Christmas 🎄🍹xx
Thank you so much for your talk! It honestly uplifted my heart. I’m 68 years old and struggle with the idea of am I old already ? Because I still feel young! What should my attitude be like?
GOOD MORNING MARGARET, I love black, and Sparkles , and I have dark circles under my eyes, I just use my makeup to cover them. Thank You for your inspiring Video as always, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to You and Your family!
I'm 65 and loving it! I'm going to start reading more about history, and interesting topics. I'm starting to have more interesting conversations on a variety of topics; start planning more trips to interesting places. Thank you so much for all the advice. I look forward to it!
You go lady! Boy, did you hit home and thanks to you I’m going to start making changes. I like the idea of “sparkle”. Everything you said is making sense as In dressing in color, as in dressing less baggy, as in meditation, in de-stressing. The one thing I recently started is going to school and learning another language. I love it, wanted to do it for a long time and so I am. Everything you said makes sense. It’s time to love me! Thank you.
Love all these comments!! Eliminating toxic people has become very popular and I agree this step is vital to healthy living. I’m curious as to what this will do to families, in that this makes it EASY to drop family and friends. With out a guilty conscience., That are hard to be with. One son and his wife seem to have disappeared from our family. I wonder if this popular elimination is making this easy. I wonder? 🤩😍. I too am starting to eat plant based. I’m excited to see what changes this can make in my health. I’m starting to embrace walking and yoga. Let’s sparkle together❤️
It’s hard Debbie, I would not like to shut a door permanently 😇. I focus on areas of my life I want to enhance. Like lifestyle changes, such as my diet. Plus keeping busy with other interests keeps our mind from dwelling on what we can’t change. I have used Duolingo app, to learn a foreign language. Pinterest, to collect pictures of things I love. Crochet or needle arts seem to take so much concentration that our brain feels relaxed in a way when we are done. Many use this as a way to deal with insomnia, if they can’t sleep, crochet for a while. Knitting works as well, or adult coloring is the same concept😍. Happy Living Debbie🌟
I love the “Start ………..” poster! I will be 68 in a few months. I’m going to start writing down every week at least one memorable episode in my life - involving an event or a person I know/knew - with a view to writing my memoir which has been long suggested by my wonderful daughters. Thank you for your interesting and useful vids. You have a lovely voice and smile!
I turned 68 this year! I have a silver crown with pink jewels (it's faux) I wear every year, all day, everywhere I go, on my birthday. Things I've learned so far: I don't know what I want to be when I grow up. What other people think of me is none of my business. Be kind, I never know the burden someone else is carrying. I set boundaries and stick to them. Play with my makeup, it brings me joy. Something I'd like to do better is knowing when to keep my thoughts to myself, not everyone needs my opinions or advice. I'll leave my weird light on so other weirdos know they're welcome. Sparkle on...!
Watching this gave me so much joy and inspiration. Many of the things you are stopping and starting apply to me. I have been trying to learn French with very little progress. Two months ago I stopped and took up Italian instead. What a difference! Easier and more natural for me. Do what you want! No judgement. Be kind. Especially to ourselves.
I was intrigued by the title of this video, and just watched it. First let me say Margaret, a great thank you for 60 and me.. it’s been a godsend in many ways. Now back to this video. I loved what you said about sparkling..the world needs that so much. As for me, at 66 years old, I decided to learn to play the violin! I just one day bought a violin..and have started lessons. I am able now to produce some lovely notes. It’s been challenging and rewarding, and I’ve found that being creative is wonderfully uplifting. I feel a freedom in my heart, at this age, that i’ve never felt before, and I look forward to adventures to come.
I am going to start being more intentional about my skin care and playing with makeup. Rework my wardrobe. Then the accessories, while juggle revamping the home. Reinventing me, and recreating my living environment. Maybe get back into my arts and crafts.
I'm going to start by thanking you for your program. You always give me a lift, I love your smile. I find you inspirational and full of common sense. I have never before written a comment like this. Now I have. Kind regards from New Zealand
My life is now all different now turned 60 no husband anymore lost my beloved fur daughter of 16 years and things have changed and I can feel it. Speaking more with my Mother on the phone finally getting ready to start my RUclips chanel thats been on hold for 5 years etc
What a wonderful video Margaret. I feel so much better for watching. I’m going to stop worrying so much about life and start enjoying it. Enjoying the every day things like baking, painting, playing with makeup, chatting with grands and getting outside can give you such a lift. Thank you Margaret. I’m saving this video to watch over again when I forget to enjoy life.
I love everything you said especially about Sparkling. I am turning 65 in January and I don't want to blend into the background, I want to stand out! Before I watched this video I made up my mind to not purchase another article of clothing until April 1st. I literally could cloth 4 more women with the clothes I already have. I am getting rid of everything I haven't worn in 2 years or that I just don't like on me anymore. I am not aiming for a capsule wardrobe but I want to be able to go in my closet and feel great about whatever I chose to wear!
As an older woman I go out of my way to disobey all the lame rules inflicted on older women whether it’s fashion, fitness or dating!! And, I will continue to lift weights 🏋️♀️
What a great piece! I haven't been on for a while and really enjoyed this video! I love how you broke it down into "stopping and starting". Really made me think and refocus. Thank you!
Laura Walker I do through the holidays too and then give it up mostly in January. I feel so much better when I get the junky food out. Sugar triggers me wanting more.
I ve had to stop sugar for health reasons. I have an immune disease. The more you give up and the less you eat of it, the desire lessens. Read labels carefully because almost everything contains sugar. You can do it. Many blessings for the New Year.
I am going to stop feeling guilty about the mistakes that I made in my life and I'm going to stop trying to punish myself for those mistakes.
This is a real good one!!
I am going to start focusing on what I have instead of what I don’t have.
Yes! Perfect... I do that- I don’t wish for things that I can’t have, or don’t need anymore in my life. I’m happier with less
I love your inspiration. I've given up alcohol this year - 3.5 months alcohol free. Next up...getting healthy

@@annalassen3468 Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I totally agree about to start doing what you want, feeling empowered!
That is a beautiful comment.
My own mom wouldn't even do this to me. She is very blessed.
@@karaa7595 maybe no one told your mother those things either...try to tell yourself the wonderful things that are true about you.
I've learned this is what I have to do for myself too.
May you be blessed.
I am having breast cancer surgery on New Year’s Eve., so I am going to start being healthy!
Margaret, I did too many years ago. Ask your doctor to refer you to a dietitian to help you get on the right path. I think you'll find the appointment will be really helpful, and hopeful. I'll pray for your fast recovery.
Wishing you a great recovery and health.
Good wishes for a successful surgery and healing!💕
I will continue to speak up about my true self instead of keeping quiet so I don’t offend anyone.
I would really like to do that, but it would cost me my loved ones. :(
Karen if not now, when? That is what I have decided. Live for today.
Happy Christmas everybody💋💋💋💋🌲🇬🇧🇨🇭🇺🇸
Thank you so much for your lovely reply and comments. Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year. :-)
I agree! Somehow spontaneously I started to avoid black clothes and even can’t wear my favourite black hat 🤭
I joke that I had a Johnny Cash wardrobe. I realized at some point almost all my clothes were either black or dark blue.
great advice. I am a classic people pleaser, at 73 I will sparkle, I promise I will sparkle
I am going to start getting rid of EVERYTHING I rarely or never use and declutter every inch of my whole house!!

I spent much of last winter doing that to the house we just sold and so far, I don’t miss a thing, especially the upkeep. 😎♥️
YES....have started that too...am sick of sooo much stuff!!!...yes..seen the clips from Joshua and other minimalists...like them but not going as far as them.
And...I wear black all the time..and love It!.
I began weight lifting at age 69 and I love it!
TJSawyer have you been able to build any muscle?
DMT CM9035 -definitely. I can dead lift 232 lbs, back squat 125 lbs and bench 102 lbs. only been lifting for 10 months and I’ve increased my maximums steadily. Goal is to deadlift at least 250 lbs.
I AM going to stop wasting money.
Me too! My pre spending question will be, "can I live without this..."
I do have enough stuff.
I've stopped saying "I should have". It changed my life. Happy holidays!
I'm a guy and I'm going to really try to stop the unnecessary groaning ever time I get up from doing something on my knees. It just reinforces the feeling of getting old.

Good advice!
I thought I was the only one that this bothered. My husband moans and groans and huffs and puffs every time he has to wipe something off the floor. It drives me nuts! I agree. It is so annoying and it doesn't help anything.
Love this post. You look fabulous and I would never have guessed you're 71. Merry Christmas to you and everyone in this wonderful community.
Hi Connie, how're you doing?
I'm going to stop worrying so much about outward appearances. Today I was so busy with packing for a move that I ignored my hair and makeup. I felt free in my anonymity and I didn't care what anyone thought about how I looked.
Hi Carol, how're you doing?
I'm going to start loving myself enough to eat and live healthy.
I turn 65 on my next birthday. I am a first time Grandmother andI love my life. 2 great kids, 1 loving hubby and I WENT BLONDE!
That is a wonderful thing to start Sharon!! You never know what doors it is going to open!
Dear Margaret.....your energy and spirit just shone through this entire
video....it was quite inspiring and
stimulating......it makes me want to move on with my life but I have had alot to deal with this whole past year. May need another knee replacement after just 3 yrs.
because of injuries in a car accident 1 yr. ago next week.
The various injuries, PT, acupuncture and daily pain
have been taking up all of my time, and physical and emotional energy.
I know people have worse health problems, but life is short for all of us and I'm getting angry and depressed from the pain and all my lost time spent going to various treatments.....now adding chiropractic and therapy for the depression from pain and breaking up from a (narcissistic)
relationship of 5yrs. I will try and keep you and the content of this video as my inspiration to keep pushing forward and get my life back. Thank you for your positive energy and good vibrations. Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year !
Hello, how're you doing.
Hi Roland. How's this working out for you?
I'm 62 and I'm going to start concentrating on me.
I’m going to start being me...not what people expect me to be! You are a beautiful woman. Thanks for this video. Happy New Year to everyone!
I need to wear more of my jewelry collection... so much stuff and I never wear these things. It's sad! And it's a waste!
Absolutely me as well!
You should! Wear the jewelry for yourself. Never too old to make yourself happy😀😀😀
I am going to start making my greeting cards again!
Bravo 💕
Sounds really fun!
In going to start stopping
over- thinking and worrying. 🌷
good plan!
I am going to start taking care of me ! With 6 children it is so ingrained in me to put everyone else first that there is often nothing left for me. Even now that they are grown, it is difficult to shake off that mindset. It's the year of me 🙂
Same here.
I’m going to start living. 2019 was not a good year and I want 2020 to “Sparkle “. This wasps inspirational for me. Thank you 😉
Hi Debbe ,how're you doing?
I just watched your video on styling joggers for the holidays, and enjoyed it so much I subscribed!!!!!
Age Is Just A Number by Barbara Jean gonna join your channel!
I really believe that you are as old as a you feel. So take good care of yourself.
I just recently began using concealer and honestly have hated it! Seems to accentuate wrinkles under my eyes. I’m stopping it now. I’m 51 but really enjoy your channel and choose to sparkle now!
Hi Dianne, how're you doing?
I am a ppl pleaser..I have already began the process to stop. I've been a widow for two years now and very, very lonely ~ soooo I would like to start being intentional about reaching out to others to do things🤔
I also don't judge my adult children for the things or ways they live their lives....
Diane Bergschneider agreed
I started a novel this year. I won NaNoWriMo this November and my goal is to finish the draft I started during NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) on Christmas Day. 2019 started as misery but that misery has led me to do what I always wanted to do, write. You have been an inspiration for me. Thank you for all that you do.
Wow, that's fantastic, keep writing.
As a fairly new self pub author (at 74), I'm in awe of your NaNoWriMo accomplishment. You're an inspiration.
Congratulation
Start forgiving yourself for junk back in the past that keeps you from living today! Another great video!!
I love your statement, “It’s not a resolution, it’s an intention.”! I’ve just started watching your videos and am really enjoying them. All the best for a happy, peaceful, healthy new year!
Thanks Mary - best wishes to you as well for a Happy Christmas and New Year!
Hi Joyce, how're you doing?
Great ideas! I’m a few year’s shy of 60 but I’m going to start doing these things now! Especially the not-boring bit.
I want to start laughing more often, find the joy and humor in moments. I want to start spending more intentional time with friends I love. I want to start enjoying the presence of God and his love in every heartbeat.
Thanks for your uplifting video today.
That's what I want, if I had any friends .😢
Wonderful ideas but start phrasing everything in the positive!!! Eg. 1) please yourself first 2) live in the present 3) praise and compliment yourself ! 4) embrace change 5) leave the ruminating to the cows and be a little more spontaneous
I'm struggling with depression and anxiety after my parents' recent deaths and my spouse's stage 5 Alzheimer's. And I'm working with a coach to get my first book published. This video is encouraging. Thank you.
my heart goes out to you Joanne - take care x
Joanne Ellis I’m so sorry about your parents and spouse! Sending prayers 🙏🌹
I’m not 60, but this list could apply to women in general.
I am going to start being kind to myself, encouraging others to be kind to themself's.
Great advice from your daughter!!! :-)
I have started to go into places alone that my mother said ladies shouldn't go alone, e.g. bars, gyms, movies, parks, sport games.....
Oh ya time to hit the bars over sixty. No thanks. I am not a cougar.
@@barbarariley3488 Porque no?
Barbara Riley - she didn’t say she went into bars to pick up guys. I believe what Jill Montgomery is saying is that she’s not afraid to do things alone. There was really no need for your snarky comment. 🌷
@@susannovak8263 Thank you for that!

Rebecca Balonso I agree!
Thanks a lot Shelly. I believe, simple things can be advantageous...like simple exercise...simple living...and of course, simplicity s beauty.
I try to take snacks along when I’m out, it helps me not buy things less healthy or expensive
Merry Christmas to you too Hazel - thank you so much for your kind words! Happy Aging! x

PennyLane Lane Eliminating toxic people from your life is very hard when they are close family members. How to do? :-(
It’s hard Debbie, I would not like to shut a door permanently 😇.

There’s a very helpful book called something like, dealing with the crazy makers in your life.
Della Dearest Julia Kristina has some great you tube videos on dealing with toxic people. Lots of free help right here on you tube.
I'm going to elminate excess in each room. I'm going to stop asking for permission.
From one Margaret 😄to another...thank you very much. Very inspirational today!! I think I will start “sparkling “ on the inside again🤩
Really enjoy your channel and website. It’s so empowering to find a channel to help me navigate all the change that comes with age! Thank you
I’m going to stop hurrying 😊

Boy, do I relate to this!!!!!!!!
Greetings Margaret! Have you ever considered doing a necklace making video? I would really enjoy that. Happy holidays and blessings!!
What a great intention - no mew clothes until April 1 :-) Let me know how you get on! :-)
I turn 65 in Feb Bonnie. What a great time to feel excited about the future❤️.
As an older woman I go out of my way to disobey all the lame rules inflicted on older women whether it’s fashion, fitness or dating!! And, I will continue to lift weights 🏋️♀️
I agree with you on black, I know my colours and it does bring out my eyes which are green. Thanks for your comments.
What a great piece! I haven't been on for a while and really enjoyed this video! I love how you broke it down into "stopping and starting". Really made me think and refocus. Thank you!

I’m going to use spa services more.
The spa warms my arthritis and helps me feel great. I will also use my spa more.
Start taking more care of myself.
How? Eating right, no sugar and more activities. Such as walking and getting organized. Good luck to me...Lol
I'm doing the walking but still eating some sugary food... lol ... lifetime battle... especially during holidays
Same here...I am going to go basic plant based direction with Chef A J, but modified to fit me. Extra lbs. must go.
Patti Allen Love chef AJ!
