- This is part 2 of the story of Black Jack Anderson, the pirate, Middle Island, the cave treasure hunt and the BEER! Black Jack was Australia's only pirate who roamed the waters near Middle Island in the 1830’s, wreaking havoc and trauma to local Aboriginal people & to passers by with his brutal and lawless behaviour. Set in the Recherche Archipelago, Esperance Western Australia. While the word pirate can be taken in a light hearted way, this is a story with a dark history, particularly for the Wudjari Nyungar, who were directly impacted by Anderson, and who have a deep cultural connection to Middle Island and the surrounding ocean, islands and land. EVERY BEER HAS A STORY.
The Black Jack pirate porter from Lucky Bay Brewing contains strong flavours of roasted grains, toffee, coffee & chocolate, with a mild hint of smoked beech. Winner of Champion Porter/Stout 2021 & 2022, Perth Royal Beer Awards.
Coming from the heart of the barley producing region in Western Australia's south east, Esperance's Lucky Bay Brewing is part of the local farming community. Being local we select the season’s best produce from local farmers, use no preservatives, renewable energy and fresh rain water to create award winning brews you will want to savour to the last drop, just like our local beaches.
We respectfully acknowledge the Kepa Kurl Wudjari people, part of the Nyungar Nation. Whose Country this was filmed on. Always was, Always will be.
