      I "only" need US 12, but have still mostly used men's shoes for about a decade. It will be interesting to discover if some models will have room for my potato-like big toes - it would be nice to have one good pair of black shoes and another pair brown that I could wear from weddings to wakes.

    • @vulcanhumor
      @vulcanhumor 14 дней назад +8

      I wear an 11, usually an 11 wide, so it's a crap shoot whether my size is available or not. I also have weird duck feet where the front of my foot spreads out a lot but I have narrow heels, which makes it hard to find a good fit. For tennis shoes I've given up and have just been getting men's, and that's been working fine, but I have very little luck finding "pretty" shoes. I am in desperate need of some dress shoes (my last pair, some flats that are well over a decade old and have seen a lot of use, are crumbling) so I'm strongly considering ordering these. (Even with the discount they're still a little pricey for me, but quality and longevity are worth considering. Plus I love Jessica.)

      Oh gosh yes! That used to happen to me! But I sprained my ankles so much that they're essentially elastic. Upside, they don't sprain anymore. Downsides, the ligaments have gone to pot *sigh*. Just EDS things I suppose (no less annoying).

      Another person with EDS here! I like to think of myself and my body as a team. Even if its best is not very good, I know it does its best and I try to remember that. Still sucks though. Also, once I walked on a broken leg for three weeks because I thought it was just my ankle dislocating all the time. Whoops! 😅

    • @deirenne
      @deirenne 13 дней назад +8

      Shitty ankle EDS gang make some noise!
      The worst part of it is when I sprain one/both of my ankles while running *very short* distance to catch a bus or a tram, cause then for sure I'm not only not getting said bus, but also will have trouble walking for an undisclosed length of time - maybe it'll pass in 5 minutes or maybe I'll still be floppy and aching next day x.x
      It's so common that I kinda barely notice it? I've had people gravely concerned about me when I f*cked up my ankle while walking with them and each time I have to spend hours convincing them that "No, it's okay, I don't need ER, that's just my legs, they just do that, it'll pass", because if I was going to the ER each time one of my joints was acting up, I'd have to live there.
      But the plus side is that I can freak the living shit out of people with how bendable and flexible I can be. I could play in Exorcist remake, no CGI or SFX needed XD

    As a queer person working with a shoe company I would ask that you please advocate for trans women who do not have any options for buying sensible feminine shoes in large sizes. I have also met cis women with the same size as me (eu47) so as always, accommodation for trans people will also help cis people more. The shoes available to the trans femme community are largely, poorly made platform stiletto boots targeted at drag queens. The whole community would love if this shoe company were able to make a few options in large enough sizes. The trans femme community and our cisters with large feet are left to wear gender neutral boots and sneakers. I know how much being a "heels lesbian" matters to you, please use your platform to help enable us to join you.

    My issuesthat keep me ffrom American Duckess are two fold. The first is just too many experiences of despite all the measurements being accurate a shoe still not fitting or just being ridiculously uncomfortable once I get to try it on. This is why I gave up on online shopping for shoes all together. I need to be able to try something on and walk aroundna bit first. My second issue is they are so nice it makes me anxious. Between health issues and klutziness, my best efforts and intentions dont protect my things from abuse, ruin, and neglect. My phone can best account for this. So many screen protectors shatters. Things brand new, first wear and I manage to mark/scrape/puncture them. And with something like genuine leather I know it needs proper care and I dont trust myself to have the spoons to do it. Ive gone through bad stretches that lasted months and I dont really have a support system that can step up for anything more then making sure I have the bare necessities. I had a genuine leather purse I was able to buy to support a smaller maker. I loved it and cared for it and still managed to break the closure within a year. 3 years after that we had one of the wettess years on record and one of the worse for my health. Because I wasnt able to keep on top of things I didnt realize my closet which had always been dry had developed a mold/mildew issue due to the excessive humidity at that time. The purse was ruined and I felt horrible over it. Still do. So now alot of things trigger that feeling of "its too nice for me"/"its not safe with me."

    My feet aren't disabled, they're just awkward! I have very narrow feet, so I understand the shoes falling off phenomenon - narrow fit shoes just don't exist for some reason, even school shoes I used to find had just two options in my width fitting.
    I'm also a UK 5.5, which usually means sizing up so the shoes end up too big in both width and length. Lace-ups I can usually get tight enough to at least stay on my foot, but slip-ons are a no go.
    I can't wear heels either, because they cause a lot of pain in the bone at the base of my big toes and sometimes my knees as well. Also, most heels are either slip-ons or sandals, so there's too great a risk of injury from my foot slipping in the shoe.
    I have literally one pair of heels that I can wear very, very occasionally for a short period of time with minimal walking involved. Even your "flat" design has too much of a heel for me unfortunately!
    Overall, I don't think I've ever had a pair of shoes that have actually fitted me properly and I dread having to buy new shoes because it takes a lot of effort to find any that vaguely fit and are relatively comfortable. I usually end up just settling for something that's ok or giving up entirely.
    I actually bought myself the Cats and Dogs expansion as a Christmas present (it was on sale), so I'm going to look for those cat shoes. I might put one of my Sims in them.

      I genuinely feel your pain - super narrow feet between sizes and EDS just makes shoe searching such a challenge! Basically they need to have laces or at least five straps so my feet don't fall out. I'd love to try the Claude style though 😍

    • @hannahk1306
      @hannahk1306 11 дней назад

      @@ashbunny2645 Yeah, I imagine having EDS makes it even more challenging! I don't understand why adult shoes don't come in proper width fittings and with straps.
      Even kid's shoes I used to have an issue with, because there wasn't enough choice for my size. For my school shoes, I usually ended up with really clompy lace-ups with a massive square heel that were really heavy - I actually think that's part of why I have knee issues now.
      The Claude's look lovely, but unfortunately I'd need one with a smaller heel. I also can't buy that sort of shoe online, because they often don't fit my feet properly and are sometimes quite uncomfortable.

    I went and clicked and this is the first time I've seen dress shoes I have a hope of wearing, as I can't really wear any heel, but, the 0.5 inch heel on the vintage flats I should be able to wear! And the quick-release buckles make me -so- happy, no more struggling with buckles!

    I’m not a big shoe person but these are gorgeous!! The dusty blue is such a beautiful color. Thank you for making wide versions, I have such a hard time finding shoes that fit.

    My lovely wife just ordered me the Jessicas in burgundy suede 🥰 Fabulous with EDS friendly shoes. Yes I have Frankenstein orthopaedic shoes and boots too but if you LOVE beautiful shoes they cause pain of a different sort. I am looking forward to rocking the Jessicas this fall❤️❤️❤️They are so elegant and beautiful 😍

    I want them all, and I hope they keep making them for a good while! I'd honestly forgotten that I'd sworn off "fancy" shoes mostly because they either fell off my feet, or had a buckle that I had to fight with.

    Omg I want these shoes so bad! They definitely address issues I have with shoes, especially ladies' dress shoes. And even for those of us who have good dexterity, those little buckles suck so much so believe me when I say that I love that they are accessible (so much) but it's also just great universal design.
    Fantastic job Jessica. I hope these sell really well! They certainly deserve to!

    I already have four pairs of american duchess. My londoners got COVERED in mould and I as well as american duchess thought they were ruined but with their advice of dipping in vinegar water mix i managed to salvage them!! Their shoes and support are amazing. And now i want some Jessies!!!

    Thank you so much from all of us with wide and/or perticular feets! We can now look fabulous with shoes that actually fit 😊

    Very nice, Jessica! I’ve been wearing nothing BUT rubber crocs for years because of mobility issues and the fact that they’re much easier to put on, but after seeing the shoes you’ve designed with American Duchess, I want to try them out.
