Her friend is "in the back of her mind like a fever" because she cant get her friend off her mind, and feels guilt for dating him. He keeps reminding billie that he loves her and that she shouldn't worry so much. She feels like she "crossed the line". Its pretty heartbreaking, being there to comfort a friend, and then dating the one that made her cry like that. Its a very, my happiness vs my friendship.

Am I the only person hearing that hears Blue is about being the child of a narcissist and abandonment/neglect and how that can make you afraid of the world. How it can trap someone is a toxic cycle they can’t be rescued from..it’s the best song on the album for the writing and sonically I’m obsessed.
Yup as somone who had been raised by a narcisstic father i was feeling called. Only thing that helped me was my mother and therapy to break out of this cycle.
the first part of blue is from the time of her ep, an unreleased song called 'true blue'. the chorus references every song in this album and then the final part is from another unreleased song called 'born blue' that was almost on the happier than ever album. also the end of bittersuite is the beginning of blue there's so many easter eggs in this album is insane. wildflower is about her relationship with Jesse Rutherford, Jesse used to date one of Billie's friends Devon (who owns a phone case company called wildflower) and then she dated Jesse. its her constantly thinking about her friend Devon while in the relationship and breaking girl code some of the melody is repeated in a few songs to tie it all together. i recommend listening to it front to back with no pausing or talking because each track connects so seamlessly
You DO KNOW that Billie plays the guitar, piano & Ukulele right? And in fact Billie said that for the first time Fin left the studio on several tracks and let Billie not only record, but record the instrumentals and finish the mixing!

True blue was a song billie and finneas made years ago but never released, and it was leaked, and since then became pretty popular, probably her most popular unreleased song. super cool how they mixed the two together.

Feel as if a few things flew right past you guys, but first listens can be like that with an album with such depth like this. It took me several listens to fully grasp its genius.
Blue melody starts at the end of Bittersuite like when you said she could sing to this melody - she did, it sounds seemless when you listen through.. Blue is a combo of 2 old songs that were half written during other albums but not released. The start of Blue is from what was originally "True Blue" (she played it in her early festival perfomances if you search but shes changed the verse to be more relevant to her life now and to also use it like her track "Goodbye" from wwafawdwg, thats why you noticed the callback lines. The second part was "Born Blue" written during HTE but they didn't feel like it had a place on that album and from what I can gather in interviews its very personal to them. The fans have been screaming for "True Blue" since 2017 and it took off on tiktok the past few years so they gave us stans what we wanted and combined it with Born Blue and alas we have BLUE. The perfect wrapup of the album just as previously mentioned "Goodbye" was for wwafawdwg (which you guys picked up on in your listen a couple of years ago :) ). I've spent the past 7 days listening and watching all things Billie Eilish. I first heard her on Stephen Colbert last week (Have I been living in a hole? Maybe, because I don't really pay attention to music awards.) Instant (65-year-old) fan! How does she do that to people? Some sort of nostalgic throwback to all the good music of my past? Anyway, I, too, immediately want more. Also, I think I need to buy headphones just to listen to it all again. Recommendations?
Obviously depends on your budget. The state of the art are planar magnetic headphones, but they start at a thousand bucks and up. If you are a true music lover, they are worth it. They are recording studio quality audiofile headphones that will open up music for you in ways you wouldn't believe. Whatever you do don't buy a set of Beats. All they do is boost the base. They are in no way true fidelity headphones. Billie's music in particular, benefits from headphone listening because the tracks are incredibly layered and there is an awful lot of background vocal that you may not even hear unless you have good headphones.
Maybe this albums is based on Ilomilo theory but this album divided in two parts which is blue 🔵 and red 🔴 I love her vocals and music which is cinematic experience ❤❤❤

loved this album! i'm liking the trend of not releasing singles. I know Taylor did it for TTPD and now Billie for HMHAS. I feel like Dua releasing so many singles affected her album release, maybe. I know for me, her best songs were the singles and they gave away too much of how the album would sound so I wasn't that interested in the release. Anyway, I think this 10 song album is great and I appreciate the conciseness :) Billie keeps growing more and more!
