The transitions from Overheated to Everybody dies was quite literally her exposing the depths of her inner world. She went thru a dramatic suicidal faze after being chucked in fame. Lost a relationship that she put blood, sweat and tears into. I love Billie for how human and transparent she is. Big f u to society. Love it
The thing about Overheated is that it's not just about the paparazzi and the fame. Billie released a video alongside My Responsibility where she sheds some of her clothing. She played it in one of her concerts before the album was announced. However, instead of taking in the message, the audience started talking and taking pictures of the video and laughing at her. That's why My Responsability transitioning to Overheated is so impactful to me. It's about society's unrealistic beauty standards perpetuated by the media and the judgment that women, especially famous women, face. Also, I interpret "I'm overheated" as a double entendre. It's her being angry and exasperated but also wearing less clothing due to the heat (the infamous tank top photo). "Can't be deleted" can mean that these pictures and people's harsh words can't be removed from the internet/her memory. They're always haunting her. It's not one of my favorites either because it's a little repetitive but I appreciate the lyrical content and the honesty.
Yeah definitely not lyrically a bad song at all. To be fair I can’t really think of a single lyrically bad song she has. Just musically not my favorite
It's not one of my favourites from the album but It grew on me a lot after seeing it live specially from coachella where she was feeling it and goes much more stronger with the vocals. I appreciate the message sm, not my fav musically but I kinda understand why they did it like that..
Respectfully, I get Billie's message about clothing, expectations of people, etc but what did she expect with showing the video at a concert? It would have been so much more powerful (imo) if it was a black screen or her mouthing the words. Like... of course people recorded it! THEY'RE AT A BILLIE EILISH CONCERT! I think she set herself up for failure with the video at the concert. Maybe make it the music video?
i actually went to her concert and when she played oxytocin it was crazy. there were red and white lights flashing, and she made the people on the floor get low and jump once the beat dropped. super fun experience!
SAMEE I went to that concert and I'd only heard the Happier Than Ever album before it and I am SO MAD I didn't know Bury a Friend at the time... when she *opened* with that song and it was so g o o d. Like so good I was taking nonstop videos and my phone battery died in the middle of Goldwing which on one hand that let me get even more swept up in the concert but on the other I got nO PICS OF HER ON THE LIFT WITH THE FLASHING RED AND WHITE LIGHTS AND THAT WAS EASILY ONE OF THE COOLEST THINGS- Anyways *y e s* that was an amazing experience and thank you for reminding me of it ^O^
This whole album was made for a live show and it shows. I reacted to the album as well and was lil confused on the first listen but I trust and love Billie😁
@@MistyShnekin oh my gosh! i recorded almost all of the songs but i do wish i took a break from recording, becuase i just feel like i didn’t appreciate what was in front of me at the time. if i could relive it again i would, and not use my phone as much!
She said in a spodify interview she ended the album with Male Fantasy because she never likes leaving conversations angry. While she has resentment towards this person, she's not yelling at them like Happier Than Ever, she's not smug like in Didn't Change My Number or Lost Cause, this is very straightforward basically saying "this is me healing and putting our relationship to rest, I still love you even though you put me through it but I'm glad you're gone at the same time" as someone who has been in a situation where I was emotionally abused but I counldn't stop myself for caring about them after, I love she ended with this song, it helped me now get over them.
Same here my first ex was physically and sexually abusive and mulipulitive he raped me too then 6yrs later I had met my ex fiancee he was emotionally and mentally abusive but I took it because he was the 1st man I loved and didn't lust over and he was so sweet to me at the beginning I got along with his family and friends so when he cheated and got our married friend pregnant I left him I couldn't take being broken by a man anymore I've been on a healing journey and it's going good so far I mean there's moments I miss and think about him but then I shack it off and remember what I went through when I was with him so for the first time I feel free he taught me such incredible lessons so I definitely agree and also understand billies music
billie started crying on stage during her second night at msg while singing getting older and it was truly beautiful seeing how emotional she got realizing how far she's come and I couldn't be more proud of her and the music she creates. every song is a masterpiece in its own way and they're all unbelievably beautiful.
I love watching people discover Happier Than Ever for the first time, and acknowledge the sheer beauty of the album. She wrote and recorded the entire record during the COVID period. These 16 songs were the only 16 songs she wrote, and I'm happy she chose to include all 16, even though some tracks might hit less than others. I feel like all of them combine to give us an insight into her mindset during that period, reminiscing about the near past and understanding how to grow out of it. I love how she closes the album on a positive note, saying that she could never hate him, instead of saying 'just fucking leave me alone'. That choice itself shows how mature she is. And btw, she was actually homeschooled alongside her brother Finneas. That must be a big reason why she is so tight with her family. Anyways, loved this video and looking forward for future ones.
The lyrics to goldwing are actually pretty deep and hard-hitting imo. It’s about her warning other young girls about the dangers of entering into the industry like she did
I am speechless every time I listen to Your Power. The lines “how dare you?” and “how could you?” seem to me to be posed as genuine questions by Billie to abusers and that’s why they feel so impactful. And when you hear the song live, those two lines being SCREAMED by the young girls in the crowd are heartbreaking. The song is a masterpiece and really important, in my opinion.
Goldwing is about a young, pure person getting into the industry who Billie is advising to run in the opposite direction because they’ll be taken advantage of and corrupted. A goldwinged angel represents purity and innocence. Hence the angelic beginning of the song, and then it being “corrupted” by a dark and intense beat.
Happier Than Ever has a special place in my heart. I was at my ex’s place when the album came out and this album gave me the courage, that night, to end things with them. I heard the song live earlier this year and my god it was therapeutic. That song hits and resonates. She’s incredible.
It's really cool that you talk about her breathing and it doesn't get cut out of the song. She really makes sure that's in the songs. Said it's proof that she's a human being. Importantly, she said that you might not like some of the songs on the album, but you'll like one, because she made several styles to please everyone.
Yess!!!!! Thank you so much!! This album is a MASTERPIECE with a lot of musical genres, each song has its own musical genres that represent the lyrics in a cinematic mood .. a masterpiece 🔥
Goldwing is a bride song in the album ( in fact is the shortest there) and important for her concert .. after the part a choir in the church is for the crowd to sing with her that “Tata Tararata tararata” it’s a question and answer with the audience .. they created the music thinking only of perfomance so you will often find in the composition a question (artist) and a response (crowd) is a choice for creating a dynamic composition for live performance! I love these reactions of Billie thank you and your dad 🥰
I think one of the things that makes her music so good is that she’s a fan of so many genres. Mixing genres is what makes the best music in my opinion.
This was by far the best review video I've seen for Billie. You guys are genuinely music lovers that can appreciate things that may not be necessarily your thing but still have an open mind and expressing love for the things you did. What a great video. Love this guys!
My pleasure!! My wife and I are 47 and 51 and have seen her several times now. It is an absolutely amazing experience especially with all the younger people in the crowd. It is wild! She and her brother are incredible!

I really didn’t enjoy the album initially, and I ignored it for a couple months. Then, I picked it up again and loved it! Lost Cause and Happier than Ever are incredible!
all Billie's albums have to mature in you and they mature over time, being very different and particular with her very soft voice and that minimal music it's not easy to understand .. especially something that different from usual, in particular in pop music in the last years, but then you understand over time that art is like with paintings.. a painting or a film you may not like it immediately but then looking at it several times and understanding more each time and the more it enters you and for me it was the same .. and every month more and more I like it, it’s insane. I like more those songs + I didn’t change my number , Billie bossa nova, My future. Beautiful.
My Future and Getting Older are my favorite. I'm obsessed with Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. Billie said Julie London was an inspiration for this album. You can also hear the influence of The Beatles in many of her songs.
I love the two perspectives that blend together and interweave. By the way, I am old enough to be your dad's mom, and I am a devoted Billie Elish and Finneas fan. Thank you for your final comments about the placement of those two last songs. That helped me see the entire arc of the album more clearly.
It must be a suprise for you to know that Billie and finneas were homeschooled their parents also had some artistic roots so they let them do whatever they want to do, when they were young their parents never forced schooling upon them to encourage them to pursue their dreams and acknowledged their talents .
As a huge billie fan id like to mention in "I didn't change my number" the names drew and luara are 2 people very close to her drew is one of her childhood best friends that she met in The children's choir she was in and is still very close to her and Luara is her manager!! :)
These siblings are phenomenal! Their albums, projects for me are on another level in pop music right now especially in the last decade! They are so young, but so perfect how they can represents the lyrics this is insane … in a such unique and creative way! I can’t wait to see them in the future when they will be older ❤️ thank you so much for this reaction 🥰
As someone who doesn’t have a relationship with my father seeing y’all’s interaction is so sweet! Y’all are so lucky to have eachother & love these videos
Simple but so powerful "EPIC" ... loved that so much! also dad got moves!!!!! dancing to Oxytocin raving w hands up! Loved seeing that! thanks for sharing this reaction. I just saw Billie in September towards the end of her world tour when i was traveling for work in australia and like dad said.. IT WAS EPIC!!!!!!! :D
There is something about the ending of Halley's Comet where I can just imagine in my head on how the song looks like visually and it just looks so realistic in my head which is one of the craziest things I've ever experienced and that no other song has ever accomplished. That song is truly a masterpiece along with the whole album.
Fantastic. Very well done. I didn't watch the chat but I'm sure lots of folks suggested that you watch "The World's a Little Blurry" documentary ... you literally see the P.O.S. dude in question doing all of those things in real time! Couple of points: 1. I think Mike senior would love watching their Tiny Desk concert ... the first song is Billie sitting at the piano singing/playing a very raw and mesmerizing version of My Future. 2. I highly highly recommend watching the live version (or listening to the studio version) of "The 30th." It's an acoustic song in which B&F literally invent a new kind of bridge that has one note for the most part and speeds up slightly to represent an anxiety attack. It's insanely good. 3. P.S. I'm a 52 year old male. I get it!
Just to comment on what your dad said about school, she was actually homeschooled, her mum was an actor and her dad worked with music, and they had a rule in their house when she was growing up, where if they (Billie and Finneas) were playing with music, even if it just seemed like messing about, they were allowed to stay up as late as they wanted, so their parents were always really supportive of them being creative.
YESSS!!! I’m SO GLAD you did this!! Billie and Finneas are a superpower duo with a LIFETIME of hits ahead of them! I lime these reactions because my mom and I are exact opposites, but share some music now and then, and I have now converted her to a full Billie stan! 😂❤️🔥👏🏽
Just came from you and your dad's reaction to Olivia Rodrigo's SOUR album and loved this one too! I love the discussions you and your dad have, and the perspectives both of you provide. It's so interesting to hear your dad's thoughts to all of these and I appreciate that you take the time to notice the subtle production effects in songs. I don't know if you take recs, but if you guys are interested in more songs that have the genre of "soft/pretty voice singing about heavy stuff and fun production" vibes haha, I'd highly recommend the artist Dodie! Her lyrics are very poignant and I love the music production all her songs have - lots of strings, so oftentimes a very cinematic feel, so kind of unique in that sense. Highly recommend!
you can see the song Happier than ever in so much ways, and i know that a lot of her fans not only relate to this in a relationship, but also with relatives or friends. There are songs like TV that remind me of Male fantasy, like she is emotional connected to the one that was hurting her. This comes back into the lyrics of Your power but also in the person she describes in "I didn't change my number". She kinda laughed at the person but she still wants to be okay for herself, i think that that's what she wants to tell us: she is growing from it, not with it.
i just started watching you guys but i love your description. You guys kind of feel the music and it’s exactly what i feel but i never knew how to express it. Finding you guys made me realize that it’s ok to empathize or sympathize with the artist.
Love this reactions sm, also overheated is about an incident where the paparazzi took a photo of her where her body was shown a bit more and everyone went crazy and started judging her about her body
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS! thank you for this reaction 💓💓 this album by billie is so powerful and different from her last project, yet familiar. would love to see you guys react to doja next.
I love you guys. I love that RUclips had shown me this videod. I'm feeling blessed. Please continue. Is a blessing that you can do this w your dad. Xoxo from Argentina
This reaction is one of the best I’ve seen. I really love billie and I’m so happy that you guys let your ears and mind into it and just be open minded.
I would absolutely LOVE to hear you and your dad react to some Lana Del Rey songs - she’s one of the best songwriters of this generation and I think your dad would appreciate her voice for sure!
I found your channel just last night and what a pleasure it is. Love your analysis of the lyrics and your reaction just gives me this heartwarming feeling. Shout out to you and your dad. I really want to see your reaction to Finneas’s music. He’s not only a great producer, but an amazing singer and lyricist as well.
Love the smirk you did when your dad said "I wish she would just scream this out" you were like "oh just you wait"

Billie is out of this world, it’s pure talent
Halley’s Comet is transcendental and the piano ballad towards the end sends goosebumps down me every time

album of the year 2021! 🥹
Goldwing felt like a powerful warning to women
Billie always seems to make me cry and also get more confident!
You guys analysed the album so so good! Loved that reaction❤️
Please react to more of Billie’s projects!🙌🏻
Thank you appreciate it 🧡
Just to comment on what your dad said about school, she was actually homeschooled, her mum was an actor and her dad worked with music, and they had a rule in their house when she was growing up, where if they (Billie and Finneas) were playing with music, even if it just seemed like messing about, they were allowed to stay up as late as they wanted, so their parents were always really supportive of them being creative.
That’s amazing. Also love your pfp that’s one of my favorite movies ever
@@putyouon ahh thank you! It was actually a redraw that my friend did!
YESSS!!! I’m SO GLAD you did this!! Billie and Finneas are a superpower duo with a LIFETIME of hits ahead of them! I lime these reactions because my mom and I are exact opposites, but share some music now and then, and I have now converted her to a full Billie stan! 😂❤️🔥👏🏽
That is awesome
Thanks for taking the time to check out another video, will keep that artist in mind appreciate you :)
U should definitely listen to the two newest guitar songs they are awesome as well!
And watch the documentary!☺️
my favorites are my future, NDA, and happier than ever
need a dad reaction to emails I can’t send by sabrina carpenter
YESSSS IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS !! SO GLAD YOU DID IT!
Please have your dad react to No Time to Die, the James Bond track sung by Billie Eilish. Her live performance at the Brit Awards is amazing!
her voice✨✨✨
when i first heard the album i didn't really gave any attention to Everybody Dies, now it's my most streamed song of all time on spotify
When i finished ya'lls reaction to her first album I couldn't wait for this one 😄
you can see the song Happier than ever in so much ways, and i know that a lot of her fans not only relate to this in a relationship, but also with relatives or friends.
Appreciate that thank you for watching ❤️
You have a healthy, wise father. Thank you for being a great man❤
this whole project is so relatable.❤❤
What a healthy relationship you guys have. It is beautiful to see
