While in encryption is not allowed, it can still be done on DMR radios. I chose the Ailunce HD1 with GPS because it does offer fairly good encryption while in DMR mode, can text, and send GPS data to other radios. I have my GMRS license, for the same reason you have yours. For SHTF comms, security, OPSEC, is the number one thing. There is a reason the military uses encryption on their radio systems. Great video, I subscribed to help you out.
From what I have been able to gather, DMR radios have different types of encryption and are not interoperable. If a person is going to buy one for that purpose, ensure they are all the same brand of DMR radio.
I made a video about my tactical setup, check it out for ideas. Mine is similar to your setup. I like watching other creators to get ideas I may be able to adopt.

It's always good to share ideas and see what set ups others have. I know DMR radios can use encryption but they do also require additional licenses to use outside of SHTF scenarios if I recall correctly. For opsec purposes at the moment atleast I have focused more on just have reliable codes that can be used. Doesn't matter what you say if others can't make heads or tails of it. I'll have to check out your videos as well !

What channel would you use for the situation

Most of the people I deal with all are programed into are local GMRS repeater that has a battery back up. Personally that's what I would be on if something happens. For radio to radio communication with out a repeater there has been a push to have people use channel 19(same as CB) but it isn't recognized offically. "REACT" ,which is a civillian disaster response group, runs everything off channel 21 typically.
