It's because the former sound engineer from turn 10 studios (Forza Motorsport series) got hired by polyphony digital and worked on the sound in the gran Turismo games.
buddy I think you havent played enough racing games, sure it sounds good, much much better than the vacuum days, but I dont think its the best, not even close. not very accurate too based on the cars ive seen so far, also the sounds have a sort of vague and muted feel rather than clear sounding revs even on racing exhaust. trust me when I say I root for this game. the visuals are great, the animations/effects, but the sound isnt quite there yet edit: ah, I've found better words to describe it, the exterior sounds like a slightly louder interior sound
2:09 that backfire in between gears and crackle is absolutely LOVELY. I just hate how when you use a Fully customizable transmission it changes the gear time and you can't hear this anymore !!😭😭
I never play in 3rd person anyway but I've seen plenty of other reviews and the cars sound awesome and a few reviewers own the actual cars in real life and say the engine sounds from inside the cockpit sound identical to their car.Exaust on real cars can have hundreds of different sounds on the same car in real life.

@@johnm3907 As someone who still does play Forza 4 fairly frequently, and yes it did have good sound modeling, GT is just better at this point overall. I want to say the Japanese cars are more accurate for sure, but stuff like American V8s still need lots of work.

Love the game and that tuning , but my big complain is that , you put a bigger exhaust , and you hear the engine louder then the exhaust itself ... the pops and back fire when seeing the back of the car are so tone down
don't really like the crackle that the exhaust makes tbh it sounds the same on almost every car like what horizon did with the flame spit. To me they should of based it on hearing actual exhaust in two steps, car meets, Etc. I've heard so many nice exhausts that don't have that fake Anti-lag sound. other than that I love the game and cars

These exhausts actually make the car sound better, unlike in Horizon 5. Don't get me wrong, Horizon's sonically massively improved but some of the exhaust options make the cars sound horrible.
@@jasongilliland1042 I'm a Horizon die-hard, it's what got me into racing games in the first place. I love it and I play more Horizon than all my other games combined probably. It has flaws, but it's so deep and rich I don't really care. GT7 has lots of little things that irritate me. I despise the chase camera, the way it's rigidly stuck to the car instead of like it is in Horizon and most other racing games. You can't even pan around the car to look at it from the side. I despise the grindy nature of it all, I think the car sounds are weak, the customisation is even worse than Horizon, drifting is dismal and there's only one stock drift car in the entire game. But it's still a very good game. My problem is more that I'm into drifting rather than racing so Horizon is great but between that and Assetto there's pretty much nothing else worth touching. The drifting in Horizon(and FM) is excellent, and it emerges from the physics model naturally, whereas in other games drifting just feels bolted on,like an afterthought. So I spend most of my time in either Horizon or Assetto. GT7 is nothing more than a diversion rn.

I've been one of forzas best drag racers since regular forza 2 I can set up also a circuit car but ur very limited to it.. and the painting sucks, plus idc to grind makes it fun but give me something worth grinding for I told my friends gt7 isnt for me I'll play bc they spent the money switching over but I'm a forza guy
@@arctic9082 No, it's not the grind I dislike, it's the fact that that grind results in such small amounts of cash and you're constantly being reminded that you can pay with real money. I just resent that kind of mtx, especially in a game as august as GT. It's fine for some utter piece of crap like The Crew, but Gran Turismo? It just seems cheap for it to have mtx at all. I like that you have to work your way up to the best cars; that's a positive to me. It's one of the things I do prefer over Horizon/FM which just hands you endless amazing cars for doing nothing. I also like the single player structure of GT7, the cafe missions. There are lots of good things about GT7, I could've listed them too,, but it's just that Horizon and Assetto are both so wide-reaching and cater to my particular tastes, which are mostly drifting, and when I compare them to GT7 I tend to think of GT7's negatives.

My greatest fun with GT is with the slightly more 'cade simcades GT1-3. Original Trial Mountain, sunset Deep Forest, SSR11 GT1 layout, Red Rock Valley, Rome Night, Grindelwald, all awesome tracks that sadly lost to time, despite being more exciting than most current GT (or most other racing sim and simcade) fantasy tracks.
Huge improvement from past games, but they still have a loooong way to go with the sounds though.....even Forza Motorsport 4 from a decade ago still sounds better than gt7....let alone titles like AC, ACC or R3E...

They all sound boring to me 🥱 this is why i fell out of racing games and built a real race car…so much they can improve on to make it more exciting but yet they want to add features in the game that no one pays attention to ..not specifically this feature

There is an option for a manual customizable transmission IIRC. The only pet peeve I have is that it adds that transmission whine along wiht it.

Naturally aspirated cars don't get upgrades when air filters or intake are change IRL so why would they in a sim-racing game.

That's how anti-lag sounds like, look for rally cars anti-lag and compare the sounds.
