A dying Arthas looks up into his father's eyes. "Father...is it...over?" he asks. "Yes, my son. No animation lasts forever." Arthas closes his eyes as the animation flickers out and the game ends.
All damage calculations and server updates most likely take place in the first couple of seconds. However, since there is a game event after each instance of damage, it triggers the start and end of the animation for every single one of them. This is entirely an animation and display issue, the game already knows that the boss is dead (yellow end turn button). Stopping animations for every event like that has always been an issue, but sometimes it helps clarify what's happening like with deathrattles during defile.
Just like with Sn1p-Sn4p, Blizzard balances the entire game around turn times. You might have thought it was impossible to balance a single-player dungeon around turn times, but Blizzard finds a way.
Its not the anomaly, it happens all the time with spells like Cinderstorm vs any plague lord. Related story.. Theres a 5 drop treasure that casts a copy of every spell in your deck.. I had 4 puzzle boxes and 10.scrolls of wonder in my deck, with the murloc twist. I almost finished an IRL game of MtG Commander before the animations were over. Real talk tho that animation delay makes Reno feel so bad to play for no reason.. hope it gets fixed..
It's been known for a while and I can't believe that Blizzard hasn't fucking fixed this yet... Oh wait... I can totally believe it, that's the sad part
I think the main reason the gatling-wand works so well with many archetypes is due to the fact that it demands no specialization. A secret works just as well as a draw spell, burn spell, summoning spell, or freeze spell. Nothing special need be done.
Hey Kripp I've been loving the tombs of terror vids! I tried something today in one of my runs that you might find interesting! If you get the darklight torch and vip pass with the jr. tomb diver's hero power, you can do some insane things. You can go infinite with the hearthstone treasure and keep going back to bob to make your deck insane. Playing like 5 treasures a turn was a lot of fun. The run ended when I got the house special for the first time and picked it just because I wanted to and I was satisfied with completely breaking the game.
I got a deck addition that had both mage quests, and also the treasure where spells cost 1 less AND the treasure that refreshes hero power to 0 mana if you cast an even cost spell (including 0)- I almost very consistently got mage secrets that cost 0 with the hero power, cast the secret, reused hero power, got a 0 cost spell, cast it, reused hero power, etc all on 1 turn. After like 10 turns I got 170+ plus dmg on the starting treasure to oneshot the second plaguelord on my first try. Really fun if you can get all the pieces to make it work.
You're half right on the plaugelord. It also has to update a registry within the code to carry the plague lord's hp from run to run, so the game actually does 2 checks every damage.
Maybe, but real reason why it takes so long is most probably an animation issue, any decent computer should be able to handle millions of checks and changes in a second...
@@superbaas8822 that is true, but regardless, the time spent on the checks should still be insignificant compared to network delay, for example, unless blizzard has very wierd spaghetti engine...
Largest Gatling Wand I got off did a bit over 150 damage. I chained some discounted echo cards. It took a loooonnngggg time for that damage calculation to finish.
You know, with Jr. Tomb Diver's hero power you can discover a Hearthstone and with that you can go to the tavern as much as you want in a run. As long as you can discover a hearthstone, you get a free trip to the tavern. I did this and manged to get my deck to have about 20 free cards before I could no longer not win. *With VIP Membership.*
Kripp: it calculates each time the boss takes damage to see if it needs to change phase Anomaly mode: Each time a hero takes damage, randomize the cost of cards in their hand
So he doesn't fully clear the board so he could get more spells. Also so he didn't get to 100hp before getting the treasure card to 100dmg to otk the boss.
Really, I think they should change animations to only do the startup animation once and just loop the active animation while it waits for effects. This would mean that everything will fire more like C’Thun than arcane missiles and would really reduce the time it would take for it to complete.
I had this happen to me but even worse The Gatling wand was at 99 damage. I had the rogue legendary hero card. I casted the Gatling wand twice. Very long wait due to that.
Since plaugelords' hp doesnt reset after encounter, game needs to save your progress each time you damage the plaguelord. I think that's why this happens
@@patriknovak6264 doesnt work like that ;) already defeated both of them multiple times, but i think the 3rd chapter just got out so he might've gotten it there
How does it take a game that long to check boss hp? Something else is going on. Yes I know he has the "Whenever a hero takes damage, randomize the cost of cards in that players' hand" anomaly. This still happens even without that anomaly. It makes Reno's 'storm' spell decks/treasures annoying to play. I really hope they fix this because the gatlin wand is one of the more fun treasures to build around
It doesn't take any time at all, rather, it's the 'Frothing Berserker' effect: All of the calculations are complete within the first 0.1 seconds, and the client is merely displaying the results. However, the boss has an 'effect' tied to him whenever he takes damage. Whenever an effect triggers, the client pauses the current spell animation, plays the effect animation, and then resumes the spell animation. This is 100% intentional because, just like with Sn1p-Sn4p, Blizzard balances the game around turn times.
voor wat “codes” Yeah you’re not a programmer. Sure, I’m not a professional programmer but I do A-level computer science and I can say that the algorithm they used for this is likely very inefficient. The long delay makes me think that is parsing a very large data structure such as an array/list or that data is being stored in an online server. It should simply save this data when the game ends. Much more efficient.
@voor wat they reallity are trying to milk your moneys worth with these silly animation bugs. Come on man there is no way someone at HQ saw this and said yeah fuck it. They would either be lazy and cut it or fucking fix it. It's such a lame bug.
@@imchipjames he wouldn't survive long enough. I'd like to remind you Underatah combo deals dmg to at least all your minions (in most cases whole board)
I doubt it’s checking for each phase, but more like calculating each health value the plague lord because you can damage it In between different runs and it has to keep track of the exact health the plague lord has, just in case you concede during the Gatling lazer’s animation.
Am I the only one that finds this adventure lacking? I've played both heroes a few times, beat the first two plague lords... but this isn't really fun. The buckets don't offer just about any fun synergies, and the games are carried by individual cards instead of by your deck's strengths. The treasures are just too good and the buckets are absolute garbage. The hero powers aren't fun, and the duel class gimmick completely flops. It doesn't matter if you're duel class if you don't get the opportunity to try out duel-class synergies. What's the point? The plague lords are kinda cool, but I'm just not having fun with this one. The Dalaran Heist was way better than this.
