    41 + 3 weeks today with my 4th baby. Past the nesting phase and now just enjoying relaxing and watching videos like these! I have an allergic reaction to bone broth and wonder what you would recommend as a substitute for it? I was so looking forward to sipping on it all the time for this postpartum and I'm so disappointed that won't be possible for me.

      Bone broth is high in histamines..that may be why! You could try meat stock instead. Example: cook a whole chicken on the stove for about 1.5 hours and the water used to cook the chicken is meat stock. Still full of protein and collagen. Perfect for a sensitive gut. I learned that from a channel called bumblebee apothecary if you're curious 🙂

      Hi Eliza! Congratulations on your pregnancy and I hope you birth goes smoothly for you and sweet baby any day now! Thank you for watching! Those last few days of bliss and relaxation before baby arrives can be so beautiful and special to think about the new little person joining your family!
      And I was going to suggest meat stock as Mariah did in her comment! I love the channel bumblebee apothecary as well and she does have some great knowledge to share. I hate you had a reaction to the bone broth but meat stock would be a great alternative if you could have it!

    I'm so happy when you post! As a fellow sports Mom, I'm wondering what you do to combat children wanting items from concession stands? We spend most nights at the ball fields and soon to be football and soccer fields as well and I'm constantly telling my children no to slushies. Do you have a recipe for slushies that you have tried?

      Hi friend! I’m so honored you are here!
      Thank you for the kind comment!!
      And we honestly aren’t at the fields very often (max 2x a week) so this has never been a problem for us and my kids are so young still they don’t even know what a concession stand is yet 😂
      I haven’t had a concession slushie in years so I really don’t know if it would compare, but we make slushies at home in the summer! I add a ton of watermelon (like 4-5 cups), coconut water, frozen banana, and collagen all mixed in a blender. It has a slushie consistency with all the watermelon but like I said i don’t know how the taste will compare to a concession stand. But we love it!!

    I've heard (from Mary's Nest) that you don't want bone broth to boil too hard or too long, because the collagen will break and it won't be gelatinous. That makes me concerned about canning it. Does your canned broth reman gelatinous?

    • @AmmieHarris
      @AmmieHarris  5 месяцев назад +1

      My pressure canned broth does! I have heard this as well which is why my cook time for bone broth is not super long (not like 12-24+ hours like some do) I use the Instant pot for 4 hours and then refrigerate it or pressure can it. Both remains very gelatinous!
      If it’s on the shelf (pressure canned) you won’t see that congealed gelatinous look unless refrigerated though!
      I do prefer to eat it fresh and that’s mostly how we consume it-in weekly or biweekly batches. But for prepping ahead of time, pressure canning has been the easiest!

    It's getting close! Do you have any "feelings" or "signs" that make you think you are boy or girl? Always so exciting not knowing until you birth baby!
    Have you tried using peroxide and water on your darker spots of sofa back cushions? Peroxide works wonders for my cream/white cushions. If I need to "bleach" something I using peroxide in my wash instead of bleach and it does the job!

      Thank you, Amanda!!! We are so excited! I don’t really have any feelings for gender. My husband thinks a girl but my son is convinced boy. But I’m just indifferent and excited for the birth!
      And no! I’ll have to try that!! Thanks for the recommendation! Do you mix peroxide and water in a bottle and spray it over the area and let it sit? Then rub?

    • @amandayeates185
      @amandayeates185 5 месяцев назад

      @AmmieHarris yes, I mix in spray bottle, usually 1 part h2o and 1 part peroxide...if the stains are a little tougher then you can do a little more peroxide. I have spotted treated my light rugs with it and then used a steam cleaner with peroxide mixed in to do whole carpet. Let me know how it works if you do it!
