I think the reason you can't stay long is because of the name of the kingdom itself: Warland. There is a chance that its people tend to fight each other a lot because of their culture or other differences, so maybe the warning regarding staying too long is related to the fact that, if you overextend your stay, you might get yourself involved in some type of conflict/war between different regions around the island itself and remember that we're talking about wars where giants fight and probably die on those wars, so probably if you aren't a giant, chances of getting yourself killed a very high. Maybe Shanks got himself involved on the whole conflict regarding Loki for the same reason. I assume that there has to be some type of faction/group that might be loyal to Loki (that recognize him as the "Sun God") and they tend to go into conflict with the other group that Luffy has befriended (the ones that are loyal to Joyboy or the user of Luffy's fruit as the true "Sun God"). This is why probably Shanks told them about Luffy.
Or Time Dilation to kinda be a "Time Skip" for training, so after the Strawhat Finished their Problem with Loki, they decided to stay to train for a Month.... But! when they leave it just One Day Pass in Real Time out of Elbaph!
This chapter reminded me of a specific episode of Loony Tunes. When I looked it up, I couldn't find the episode, but it was one of my favorite Loony Tunes episodes as a kid. Eventually I realized it was a Tiny Tunes episode called “No Toon is an Island.” After watching it, I realized there are so many elements that are related to this series. From the ship looking like DuFeld’s ship to Imu, and even an almost identical sequence of Sabo throwing the fireball at Imu, Imu biting it, leading to Sabo and Cobra running away. ANYWAY, there is a concept in it where you go crazy on this island looking for treasure, becoming a “green eyed monster” or crazy with greed. I wonder if it is the same thing or something similar on Elbaf, where the longer you stay, the more greedy you become. Maybe Mother Caramel became more greedy the more she was there.
Time doesn't move slow but you'll lose the track of time because it's a Fabled land. We could use Pinocchio as reference, in the movie the kids became so obsessed with all the things they experience in Pleasure Island hence losing the track of time, got cursed and not able to leave.
I think staying too long in Elbaph will reveal its ugly sides. Maybe the Giants and / or Shank aren't as cool as we thought, and there is something going on that is completely against Luffy's ideals. Remember that Oda loves real-world inspiration. And maybe some of us experienced this: You want to travel somewhere and you romanticize it but then you are there. The more you stay, the more you discover things you don't like. And slowly, your dream of this place starts to crumble. To at to that, there is this saying, "You should never meet your heroes."
Part of me believes it might have something to do with the outside world. The World Government knows the Straw Hats are at Elbaph and with Vegapunk’s message about the world sinking, the Navy might want to take initiative on seeking high grounds. Elbaph is perfect for that. Wano has too many defenses where they can’t reach and Fishman Island is underwater so that’s won’t work with the Navy being mostly devil fruit users. I think Loki will start something that’ll somehow drag the Navy and other pirates like Crossguild or Blackbeard to Elbaph and that’ll be Ragnarok.
I want a battle Royale, the giant battle Oda announced last year at Jump Fest that will make "Marineford look cute by comparison". If he does want to accelerate to the end, shorten it with a battle Royale.(though I'm thinking Enel shows up soon)
it was writen by a dude ages ago, i dont think he knows who luffy is. also oda said that he almost didnt even write the crew going to elbaph so im not sure
23:10 actually… a 12 day fast has always struck me as insane. An old lady and a bunch of children fasting for 12 days is incredibly dangerous (even forgetting the Linlin Hunger Pangs issue…). Just googled it, and per a quick search a total fast of 3 days requires medical supervision and can be dangerous. So if your theory is right, they were swept up on giant time, by fasting dangerously long every year! *Edit: also nice video! I’m glad you thought about the Mother Carmel reference, since that does create an obstacle to lots of theories I’ve heard. I thought it was neat that a part of that flashback might actually align with the theory you’ve given!
"12 days of Christmas", in the One Piece world it's a fast during that same period around the winter solstice. Idk if 12 days means more than that, unless Luffy is getting 12 SH members?
@@NeonRoger yeah it could be a reference to something else historical! It looks like the 12 days of Christmas fast was not a complete fast, just certain restrictions like during Lent, whereas I had the impression the Elbaph solstice fast was a total fast. But youre right that it could be Oda referencing that, or it could just be a coincidence, but it’s at least something that aligns with the theory!
@@ejelder I never knew there was a fast with Christmas. I was just referring to the 12 days part, and to the winter solstice being why 12 was probably chosen. I fixed it for clarity, sorry too many weedies after work.💨 Though that raises an interesting question, do we get to see a Jolly Gaint Saint Nicholas in red with a big white beard? Does Chopper unlock red armament haki for his nose too?🤣🤣🤣
Since the fast in Elbaf starts with a Semelparty it's clearly inspired by the Swedish christian fast which is actually 40 days. But at least in modern times you're not supposed fully stop eating. Just eat in strict moderation and specifically avoid more indulging foods like sweets and alcohol.
A somewhat different idea I thought of for why Arnot cautions adventurers specifically to not stay too long might relate to Log Poses (how long has it been since *those* have been relevant?) Perhaps just like staying on other islands for specific amounts of time to set the Pose to the next island, maybe Elbaph isn’t on the same line. Maybe once the Pose sets on Elbaph, it takes you off on a different direction entirely, or maybe even sends you backwards to a previous island-and given how some of the islands take ridiculous time spans to set the Pose (I forget which place, but I remember the crew being provided with or asked about purchasing one that was already set, since the time it normally takes was measured in years), and to an adventurer that brings them away from the path they want to take. That, or maybe Elbaph resets the Pose to the beginning- perhaps giving extra reasoning for why Eternal Poses were created to evade that effect, and even why the Eternal Pose for Laugh Tale was made (after spending all that time to get there, wouldn’t want to have to do it all over again each time you decide to go back or send someone else there) Just a random thought to add to the theorycrafting out there 👍
This is genius! It could even explain why the giants are so big, everything on the island is so big, sooo much more. Very interesting that vegapunk’s future tech works here
It could be like the Greek myth of the lotus eaters to shop Odysseus from adventuring n returning home, by the sea goddess calypso. Also the photon which effects time in the one piece world maybe works differently there, the norotum, introduced to use by foxy. His df can effect this photon but it exists without his fruit power.
Well, y'know it doesn't have to be a bad thing to live on Giant Time. We are approaching the end of the story. Maybe if time flow works slower on Elbaph, maybe the Strawhats at some point in the arc can train themselves up for the final fights without it feeling like too much time outside of Elbaph has passed. A few of them desperately need upgrades. (Looking at you Usopp).
The 'time passes slower' idea doesn't hold weight for me. If that _were_ the case, a giant who normally lives for 300 years could live for multiples of that in 'the real world', so many of the Elbaphians would potentially be thousands of years old. I doubt Oda has been missing a beat there.
We will find out when we meet Jarul, he's the oldest and if say time goes; 1 Day Elbaph = 3 Days the rest of the world Then Jarul would have been alive for the void century. Though this could be a weird fountain of youth type thing, it just pauses you where you are like the Gorosei? Carmel makes that difficult but she left the island often it seems, and sold a kid every 2 years or something so them staying young would be profitable. I'm with you, it would be a cool story device to speed up events away from the crew but I can't see it much more then 1:3 1:4 type ratio. And even then I'm leaning away more by the word.
I must say either there different reasons why this wouldnt work, or even if there happens to be a plothole, its not the first time and definitely not a big problem for me because this setup for the finale would be such utter greatness that i wouldnt care if there is anything not homding weight
17:00 - Dressrosa takes the cake here. Strawhats rock up, all hell *immediately* breaks loose. Every single one of Doffy's plans completely fail. There's a betrayal. A bunch of people POP BACK INTO EXISTENCE. TWICE! And then this lunatic rolls right up to your castle and punches you into hades with the BIGGEST fist you've ever seen in your life. While flying. Since when can he fly? Nobody told you he could fly. Total time:
Something that i find interesting is that if time works differently on elbaf, that may be a reason as to why mother caramel set up there to begin with. If let's say, one month on elbaf is one year in the outside world that would greatly increase the turn around on the kids she was raising for the government. And she was okay with leaving because big mom was going to be the last batch anyway.
I can't shake the feeling that Oda put that tidbit in to justify what's going to be a shorter arc than we may want. After all, he wasn't planning on actually doing an Elpaf arc (the absolute MADLAD). He's said repeatedly that the characters and the world have more creative control over the story than he does at this point, so it might also be him giving himself in-world reasons to keep this one reined in. A shackle he wrote in just to keep things on track. I bet he'll come up with something nifty, if he hasn't already, but I don't think this was some big planned reveal about Elbaf so much as parent telling the kids at the roadside petting zoo that we have to check into the hotel by 8 PM and there's a 5 hour drive left.
Luffy's technique against Katakuri and Cracker, in which Luffy doubles his arms to six arms in the fourth gear, is due to the power of imagination, but in a partial way and less effective than the fifth gear, because Luffy, with the power of imagination, can change the features of his body, for example, removing the scar on his eye and then returning it to its place in a comical way.
What if Louis Arnot's warning was just a simple misunderstanding of something he saw happen? Like for instance lets say he witnessed what appeared to be a giant girl in a pink muumuu be struck with madness and kill one of the most venerated giant warriors on the island before being restrained by multiple giants and forced fed semla until sedated into a food coma. Then of course she and all the humans with her are kicked off the island, or as Louis might put it "they outstayed their welcome". Louis then decided to not push his own luck and leave the island before clarifying details with the giants in concern the same could happen to him.
Theory: Big Mom's Semla Rampage happened in "Heaven World". Then Banished Sent to "Under World" since its Elbaf's Prison where both Loki meet-cute & Mother Caramel occurred.
It could just be a new “adventure/tourist visa” like rule set to protect giants from having to deal with threats or nuisances if humans were up to no good mother caramel was an exception she had a work visa
You left out the possibility that Carmel’s soul soul fruit prevented the effects of elbaph… the danger affects the time of a soul.. maybe that’s why Roger and white beard had not much time left to live.??
I think will we will learn what happened to Mother Carmel herself if we visit the heavenly realm and see her spirit or if Mama does arrive in Elbaph Mama's ghost will provide her a sense of closure
i have a feeling you wouldn't want to stay to long because you start to crave a fight all the time. this would explain why Luffy snapped so fast when Loki dissed Shanks
Honestly, I hope he starts a new manga after this one you know maybe a little slower like once a month you know he can do it from home or something I just feel bad. He’s learn to write so well what a tragedy to see him go of course he deserves to retire. I’m hoping.

What if time seems to go by slower bcuz elbaf gets sun light for longer periods of time, like Alaska in our world. They can go days with sun light 24/7. So maybe they forget what time it is bcuz they loose track of time. Giants don't notice bcuz of their long life cycle
maybe they meant "don't stay too long at this Island, otherwise Shanks will reach Laugh Tale first..." lol
What if after they get off of the island, the world is already knee-deep in the midst of the war because of how much time went by?😮
Watch this be the reason oda will only make elbaf 30 chapters long
One cant stay too long on Elbaf...
But Tucan.
I NEED ONE MORE TIME SKIP THE PASSGE OF TIME THING HAS ME SOLD!!!!
Zoro would probably drink for 3 days straight
so is all OP youtubers saying the same theory?
I think I'm in love
Maybe they age faster in Elbaf

Was that a Kamala Harris dig lol
Thank u for talking one piece to me for 24 min
Hey that's my idea... ❤❤😁😁
I introduced the idea in last joystream.
(I'm doing PhD in physics and even currently working on a paper about time, and I would love to help out with time physics understanding, If you like)
I'll definitely let you know of any questions!!
