The "whole nine yards" phrase refers back to WW2 fighter pilots. The ammo belts for the guns were 9 yards long. A pilot who came back empty on ammo was said to have given/went the "whole 9 yards".
Wow that’s acutely interesting
Wrong, it's a Bruce Willis movie
@@notablezero8793 no he is right
@@My_cat_is_so_cute dur
@@notablezero8793 it is a ww2 saying
I’ve always heard the idiom “The Whole Nine Yards” was a military term. One explanation is that World War II (1939-1945) aircraft machine gun belts were nine yards long.
Hey formalpickle, just wondering if you can upload more videos. I love watching your videos really brings a smile to my face hearing you and your dad talking to each other. It reminds me the relationship between me and my dad because he grows Onions, Tomatoes, corn, maize and beetroot.
The The Dry Corn Addon for propane and AA tanks and transport trailers. Mod Hub under the gameplay category.
There should be propane trailers in the shop under the dry corn mod. You can go to the fill point on map, or build a fill pump on your farm
It’s scary that you were talking about the bubble of extreme heat, when right now it’s over 95 degrees in NEW JERSEY. To southern dwellers that may not be too bad, but here in the northeast, it’s like hell on earth with a dragon breathing down our necks.
It’s f*cking HOT
Insert that "lol First Time?" meme here
Last summer the farm next to me in central IA was so dry I was convinced the corn was going to ignite with all the wind we had! Glad the rain hit this year, but 96° before July has me scared 😂
“The whole nine yards” comes from the military, as on naval vessels I believe, it was either 12.7 or 20mm where the ammo belt was 9 yards, so when they say the whole nine yards, it means use or I have fired, the entire belt.
Also, awesome vid friends!
We've had nothing but rain since September. Cold too. Good haylidge weather here now so tractors getting busy
From West Wales UK the cleaner and I love watching you and your Dad making farming fun, informative and entertaining.
@TheFormalPickle "The whole nine yards" or "the full nine yards" is a colloquial American English phrase meaning "everything, the whole lot" or, when used as an adjective, "all the way". Its first usage was the punch line of an 1855 Indiana comedic short story titled "The Judge's Big Shirt".
The earliest known idiomatic use of the phrase is from 1907 in Southern Indiana. The phrase is related to the expression the whole six yards, used around the same time in Kentucky and South Carolina. Both phrases are variations on the whole ball of wax, first recorded in the 1880s. They are part of a family of expressions in which an odd-sounding item, such as enchilada, shooting match, shebang or hog, is substituted for ball of wax. The choice of the number nine may be related to the expression "To the nines" (to perfection). Use of the phrase became widespread in the 1980s and 1990s
Took a road trip and was up near you guys. It was cool seeing all the iowa corn farms as we were driving through.
The "whole 9 yards" comes from reloading old machine guns when the belts came in 9 yard stretches. 25:45
Regarding multiple jobs on top of farming, my uncle farms and ranches, and just retired from the USDA. Has a lot more time for farming and ranching because he probably isn't going to retire from that side of things. Hard work, but I loved working for him for a few weeks during the summer. Last time they were in town, my aunt brought a blackberry pie and my uncle said it was from the same blackberries that I planned 20 years ago haha.

The IMT 525 tanker trailer on mod hub will transport propane.
It is under the miscellaneous tab in the store, once you add it to your game. Propane is very cheap, unrealistically so imo.
But,
You’ll want to get your drying going as soon as possible, so it has time to process the corn by the time you want to sell it.
There’s propane and propane trailers just north of town on the main highway that you can use
For ur propane problem… in that mod there is a fuel trailer for propane. Although that trailer is a little weird. I recommend using on the the trailer from DJ’s Trailers pack. Either way if u take the trailer to the buy point you should be able to fill it.
The IMT 525 tanker is what I use.
There are a lot of realistic mods I've never seen or played with before in this series
There are ibc that have propane in there
Awesome farmers. 👍👍👍stay cool 😎. Awesome guys
The ammo strips for heavy gunners was nine yards long, thus the whole nine yards
Definitely, dry that corn
I wish we had that rain y’all got we’ve been in the longest drought since 2 years ago and our lake dropped only because of the no rain
This is the first year in roughly... 7-9 years we've had proper rain. I swear its been dry otherwise lol
The whole 9 yard is war reference, a belt magazine for an airplane a long time ago was 9 yd long. Check it, it's facts
nah cold over hot. you can always put more clothes on, you can only take so much off b4 you get arrested
Check the bga for propane
@31:33 it looks like papas harvester has his name painted on the metal on top of the extension don't it ? that would be cool though :)
it never fails if someone or if u have hay down it will rain
Excited to see this. I was having pickle family withdrawals
it warms my heart that you know about Guy on a Buffalo
I love these SO FREEKING MUCH!!!!
Cool, never have ever seen one of those Bluetooth hoses. :)
Apple selling them for $499.99 lol
1 bushel is 35 ish liters. You have about 27339 bushels, I think.
You should be able to buy propane at the dryer or there is a modded semi trailer that will haul propane not sure what mod it is but I use it in U M R V map
7:59 I live in West Virginia and it’s hit 100 degrees I think at least once but I’ve never seen it get that hot here it’s terrible I’d rather be cold than hot
In Iowa I've seen -50's and I've seen 120+ lol It can be a wild ride out here.
I say all should collet all the corn stalks that were dropped tbh
Some maps/mods allow for that. I don't know if this one does, I'll have to check.
Man thank you, work was stressful I needed this today.......
You can buy a propane container and then you can buy it and it will get filled for you
Hot or cold? You can always put more layers on, and there’s only so many you can put on. Cold all day. (From an Indiana farmer)
I concur. Florida native (lived in Florida my whole life, but have visited cold places before). It’s the same with me. I’d rather the cold over the heat. Granted, I’m pretty fine up to some blistering temperatures, but the saying is incredibly true.
When it’s cold outside, you can put on as many layers, and stuff your pockets with as many hand warmers as you please. When it’s hot outside, there’s only so many clothes you can take off before it’s illegal and you get arrested for indecent exposure.
Hey! Great series. I’m late to this party clearly lol. What is the map you’re playing on please?
About the “mow hay to make it rain” comment. My dad always used to joke that he had to start pumping water and then we would get an inch and a half of rain
So 1000L is the same as 1 cubic meter.
The equivalent is 35.31 cubic feet, if that’s an easy conversion for you.
The reason why 1000L is also 1 cubic meter is because our weight and volume system is based on water. 1L= 1 kilogram. 1000 Kilograms = 1 tonne (metric). So 1 cubic meter is 1 metric tonne of water. You can then apply that to any volume of material based on its specific weight…
e.g 1000L of wheat should be around 790kg… so a trailer with a capacity of 27000L will hold 21.33 metric tonnes of wheat. (But since you ‘mericans will measure using anything other than the metric system, that trailer carries wheat equivalent to ~47000lb; or 969.54 Apollo 11 moon rock samples.)
Also,.. Hot, all day long. I don’t tolerate the cold.
In January I didn’t have to go to school that hole month because all the snow
Roughly 23468.27 bushels to your 827k liters
The whole 9 yards refers to ww2 fighter planes cuz the belts of ammo were 9 yards long and you’d give them the whole 9 yards
Hello, really love your videos. Whats the name of this map? thanks
The thumbnail is farming canola and in the video they are harvesting corn

I don't like that ya swapped around some land and sold off building etcc to buy a restuarant and such to let you afford to harvest some corn, kind of took me out of the series.
That’s just capitalism.
@@TheFormalPickle lol not really, i still love the series dont get me wrong =) and you guys.

Cold > Hot. You can always put more clothes on, but if you take enough of them off people start to get mad.
You'll NEVER find me enjoying the cold lol 1, it hurts my body quite a bit and 2, I hate wearing all that clothing.
You may always be able to put more clothes on but I don't want to be bundled up like an alpaca lol
