Subscribed and Liked!! I've often wondered what we could do with the heat produced by the muck heap I used to square off, when I worked at the stables!! It used to be the warmest place to be, during the winter!! (The snow would melt off it!)
@@AndreaDingbatt that’s a good idea of how much heat can be produced lol We have experimented with this year after year trying to get the best results with the least investment. Thanks for checking this out!
Once we’re done with all the outside work we will share everything we’re doing inside the greenhouse to move air and water through separate lines with pumps and fans ran off solar power. We’ve got a lot of videos coming covering this subject thank you for the Interest!
A heat conductor or heat insulating reflector is the definition of aluminum for heat transfer. It may not work as well as steel or copper but its worlds better than our plastic drain tile
This is awesome thanks for sharing your set up , have been thinking about diverting heating from my pile how could it be done you kno, looking forward to checking out the channel!
Have you used pex pipe for this kind of application befotr? Does it work? My experience as a commercial plumber says pex needs no insulation, therefore it doesnt condensate. Meaning it probably doesn't lose much thermal mass. So maybe it wont do what your asking of it. Just a thought.
Yes I’ve used, copper, pex , and rubber hose. Pex isn’t the best for this application but with enough of it inside the pile and a big enough pile for a heat source we can achieve our goals. However I do plan to make progress on a more efficient and permanent heat transfer system. It’s always a learning experience every year lol thanks for the input and watching!
12:23 Awesome Content 🎉 First off, we wanted to leave with this comment with a donation. Also, do you have an Amazon Registry setup for us to help with the homestead? If not, then please do? How do you keep your extra scrapes organized? You know, to prevent it from looking like clutter. I don’t know if you’re aware, but the general consensus perceive offgrid homesteaders as having piles of trash on their land. One solution was to structure it like a department store. We’d love to heard your opinions and your take on this subject matter. ❤
I appreciate you checking out our channel! We don’t have any sponsors, affiliates, Patreon, or a wish list lol, watching liking and subscribing would be all we ask from anyone. As far as keeping organized… we are constantly working and evolving the homestead and sometimes it’s a mess with projects, the necessities find us and out of necessity we find a place or create storage accordingly lol. It’s a working mess always
Truly worth the investment, I chose to use it in the most critical hard to reach joint. The rest are pretty easily accessible so I could drastically cut costs and be able to modify the system going forward. Thanks for watching!
Im assuming you use a battery for the pump at noght, since solar power is pretty hard to come by when the sun is down. It would be neat to see that set up. Also, have you looked into adding some pipes near the bottom of the compost pile to get airflow into the pile? Seems like you'd be able to get a more thorough composting is aot was flowing in a few feet from the center.
Technically yes if it runs free standing without a timer, but with a timer we can get better longevity into the night. The most energy will be stored during the day when energy from the sun is abundant and we can flow heated water into our tank. We will be sharing every little step in this process over the coming weeks! Thanks for the interest, and I’ve thought about oxygenating or aerating the pile but with it being so massive it should have trapped plenty of oxygen and should burn for months. Maby I. The future is could experiment with this idea, thank you
With all the interest on this subject in mind we will release the part 2 of this video tomorrow! Thank you for being here!
Looking forward to it!
Getting better every yr dude. Hopefully winter isn't so terrible this yr

I really enjoy you sharing what I wished I could be doing. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for watching! We’ve got a lot more on this subject coming soon
Watching these videos out of order. But how are you getting hose and plex filled with water w/out air. Abd does it keep circulation? Great ideas.

Aluminium is an insulator. Good to use it as insulation for running the outside bit of your airline.

Plenty more to come as this was the first of at least a dozen step by step videos on this subject, thanks for checking us out!

Mr. Shark sure had a great idea when he came up with those "Bites". Worth every penny.

Plumbers hate them, I've asked why and been told they fail too much. But 15 years in they seem to be fine.
@jeffreykershner440 I’ve not had issues other than trying to remove them lol. Maby that’s their issue with them.
