    So after watching about 70 of your 99 beer videos, I decided that i was going to upgrade from my 5 gallon system to 10 gallon and ended up getting the Clawhammer supply 20g starter kit. I love it, the quality is awesome! I haven't decided what to brew first with it yet, so I am open to ideas!

    I’ve done 8 batches on my CH 120v and I’ve had no problems. Unfortunately the heating times take a little extra time. I plan to upgrade to the 240v controller and element in the near future tho. That’s the best thing about it, it’s modular so you can change it up if you want. Cheers 🍻

      I use a 120 element system in my still and that does take some time to heat up also. I have started pre heating my mash in a kettle over propane first, then pour that in the still and let electric take over from there.

    Thanks for the video! I made my own system that was inspired by Clawhammer system. Shipping the whole system from US to EU is quite expensive (+ customs and VAT). It has 43L pot (a bit over 11 gallons) and 2500W heating element. It works great and last time i had almost 70% brewhouse efficiency (69.4%). I love the design of the system and kinda feel bad for "copying" it, i'll buy the original system one day :D

    Hi, thanx for the video. I really enjoyed every single one of them since I started homebrewing last years August. Maybe I am wrong, but i think u mixed up the inlet and the outlet at the pump (4:17), I have a complete different system since clawhammer is not available/suitable in Germany, but it happens to be, that I have the same type of pump built in, and the pump's inlet is at the front and the outlet is at the top...

    Have you had a chance to brew on the Spike Solo system yet? I know a few other RUclips channels have done so during the beta test phase, before product release, but it's been a while since that time. It would be pretty cool to get a current side-by-side comparison video of various all-in-one systems. 👍

    Question: While waiting for the wort to come to a boil, could you dump and rinse out the grain basket and use that for a hop spider without hop utilization taking a hit?

    • @TheHomebrewChallenge
      @TheHomebrewChallenge  2 года назад +1

      Such an interesting idea! Clawhammer tell me the mesh in the grain basket is too tight and the hops will block it up. They recommend using hop bags if utilization is a concern.

  • @bassoonuk

    It's a great shame that Clawhammer and a number of other US vendors haven't (yet) expanded their products out to other territories. We could do with some competition in the mid- to high-range area for these systems!

    • @clubroot3383
      @clubroot3383 Год назад

      Yeah, that’s because they are still waiting for those shipping containers to arrive since Covid messed up the flow of things. Same problem in the UK, preorder and empty promises and a lot of this shiny material that is so badly made and prone to rust, I wouldn’t bother. The West needs to return to high quality domestic production and wean itself off from imported junk.

    I'm in Tasmania Australia, I don't know how you cope with 110V in North America when the rest of the world is on 240V perhaps that's why so many brewing videos on RUclips in the US use propane instead of electricity, that said I don't think they can really change it now.

    • @jens5934

      I’m in Oz as well and use electric and gas at the same time. Works a treat and no waiting around for ramp ups. One thing about that Clawhammer system, my basket has three fold out hooks that deploy automatically when you lift the full grain basket. Makes life much easier. Great show Martin, thanks!
