Superb mate! Love that you are keeping this going and getting the message out - smashed it with that stonking great slab of cow too! Mmmmmmmmm
Hahah cheers boss really appreciate it Simon lad 👊👊👊 cheers for watching man 🤙
Obviously, it takes courage and commitment to serve one's country. However, I submit that facing one's own demons and helping others to do the same takes some huge cojones. Bravo young man, bravo!
Thanks very much mate 👊

HI HAVE SUFFERED WITH PTSD FOR 40 YRS PLUS AND COUNTING, SNAFU, REGS P
I felt suicidal at one point, I was on antidepressants in addition my wife left me, I really did not feel like I want to keep living, I eventually overcame my anxiety/panic attacks, no more taking antidepressants but as you have said I suffer/ed from drinking since then. That was the only way for me to cope, I'm now doing my best to stay away from drinking and focus on my faith! It's one of the hardest things in my life worse than divorce to stay away from %... Each time going to shop seeing alcohol is like having easy access to some hard drugs! So yeah wild camping is one of my coping mechanism to stay away from alcohol and the day to day stress!
Thanks for sharing bud. The outdoors is the place to be. Stay strong mate
Lost my son 4 years ago, aged 30, your message is really helpful and is very well delivered. If you help one person lift their head from where they you should be proud.
Thankyou my friend and I’m really sorry to hear that 😔
Hi Craig , I suffered from Depression when I was young , Lost my Father when I was 11 , died the day I started Senior school , affected my whole schooling , was an Alcoholic by the time I was 13 , took years for me to finally get over it , was no help for us at that age , you were supposed to man up ! , so I can understand where you are coming from , Strength and Honour mate , Be Well and take care .
Sorry to Hear about it Bob mate! Always here for a chat buddy
@@EastAnglianBushcraft No worries , well over it now , this was years ago , but thanks mate .
Hiya. I've been battling cancer for 3 years. Your shows really helped me on my road to recovery. Cheers.
All the best Justin 💚👊
No! you are not doing a terrible job! I feel you. In a short time period i have lost some people that is very close to me. My best friend, my beloved uncle and my mother, and a divorce. That broke me to very small pieces!! With help from my family, relatives, friends, work colleagues and proffesional phsycologists..... But what really kept me going was my sons!! I needed to be a father for them!! My way back is what you have said, it is VERY VERY IMPORTANT that you speak with your friends, relatives, proffessionals, coworkers, the guy in the bus stop.... DO NOT THINK YOU ARE BULLETPROOF!!! Speak out!!! There is most certinaly someone who will listen too you!!!!
Nice to see you do the " show us your steak " challenge and talk about men's mental health . For way too long now there's been this stigma attached to it and I was brought up to keep these things to yourself and keep a stiff upper lip and all that , so with that mentality there's no wonder the rates of suicide in men is that high . Well done and to all who accept this challenge and talk openly about mental health 👍
Thanks mate 💚👊🔥🤙
PTSD, is a bastard. Wild camping and escaping makes life better. Trust me, on that one. Glad....you are good again now man. Keep up the good work.
Craig, you most definitely did the challenge justice buddy. You are a really honest and down to earth chap and hearing you speak about mental health has helped me. I am sure it will help others too. Thanks for doing this. Happy camping bro 🏕
Ah bro nice one man thanks so much dude
Buddy that was really brave of you to put that very candid story out there like that. Good on you, mate.
Thanks very much bud
#1, Thank for your service. #2 Thank you for talking about mental health issues for men, especially for those who have served. Very cool my friend 🤠
Thanks so much mate
Thanks for speaking so honestly. In my case it was early childhood abuse (every kind you can imagine), at the hands of my father and his friends. It started when I was 4 years old and continued for nearly a decade. Except for a few random memories, I buried the whole load of misery until I turned 50 years old. Since then, working through it to reclaim good mental health and a will to wake up every morning has been a horror and probably the hardest thing I've ever done. I had to reach out to a good counselor and admit I needed help. I'm so thankful I did because it saved my life. It's hard work but so worth it. I'm stronger and mentally so much more healthy now. I'm out opening up about it, trying to show people there's hope and a good healthy life after trauma and tragedy. And several camping trips a year definitely help too! Thanks again for being open and so genuine. You're helping others to do the same!
My grandad was a royal marine commando in ww2. He was a climber before the war, and then after the war he was out every chance he had into the highlands where he'd trained, and then later in the alps. I am told (he died when I was 9) he didn't talk much, and that caused issues with my grandma. Now I think more and more there's a connection between inner turmoil and the big and wild landscapes of the world. Being out there made him calmer, like it seems to make you calmer. If I can't understand how he and you lived under fire I can at least understand that a campfire, a forest, and some silence makes for a bit of peace.
That’s a great story mate Thankyou for sharing it mate…. Not about the issues and with your grandma but the rest of it. Thankyou for watching bud 👊
@@EastAnglianBushcraft Ah i appreciate that but don't worry they had a great marriage. Just that what you said struck a chord and I'm glad to have watched your video
That's what I'm talking about, The steak was off the hook man. Looked delicious. Great Video Brother. I'm sure you have made our uncle Hazy Proud. I knew there was more to you than the Haribo and IPA's absolutely loved the video. Now you are a Legend... take care and look forward to your next adventure...
Ah nice one man really appreciate it dude !! 👌
fire in the rain without bragging about it! awesome. thanks for stepping out Craig, i wondered what was inside there and if you would talk about it one day, good job. you can say one steak is better than another but the one in front of you is best.
Thanks Dennis mate 💪 means a lot dude

Great job messaging on the self check and reaching out for support
never hurts to bring subjects up like mental health again and again !
10/10. Serious talk mate. Let’s all start to talk. We are better together, such a great way to explore our ‘manhood’ , out in the woods.
362 likes.. no dislikes. You are doing great..
How you have describe what you went through is the same that I'm going through now for me it started when my partner went into a care home we had been together since our school days and as soon as she went in the care home I was lost not knowing what to do with myself I found myself asking why is this happening to me and my partner, I have talked to my brother's about it help a bit but as soon as I was on my own I went back on a downer I have got some help from my doctor he as gave me some tablets and I take one a day it's not nice being like this, some of my friends have said how I have changed from being a happy person to being quick tempered person but I know I will be OK if I start to struggle I will always try to get help. It's good to see you have beaten it , it gives hope to alot of people like myself and I would like to say thank you for what you are doing to help people get through it Thanks.
Sorry to hear that brother….. i think what can help you more than ANYTHING…. Is yourself … analyse every word you say and move you make … consciously change yourself and like any habbit… over time … it will stick
I'm having a hard time because of Covid, lockdown. lost my job ect. youtube channels like yours keep me going. I look for little projects I can do around the home and plan sneaky little camping trips.
Sorry to hear it mate stay strong
Bud ! I’m glad you get something from
The vids mate 👌👊
Very powerful Craig, takes minerals to talk about mental health. Especially your own. Appreciate the nomination, I’ll do my best to do as good a job as you did! You will have undoubtably inspired others to talk about their issues with this video! Cheers mate 👍🍺
Thanks Matt mate ! 👊👊 cheers for accepting to do it bro 🤙
Craig’s got sand…
Respect mate.
Mental health is truly the killer the statistics show.
Now is the time to talk.
I've lost too many good people to suicide and substance abuse so i speak loud and long on the subject.
Nice one for getting it out there more.
Steak looked rad, very jealous!!
Hope you're well mate. Cheers!!
Well done Craig. Great listening to you, I don’t believe anyone who leaves the military leaves unscathed. PTSD strikes us all. Some seek help, some get help some just live with it. Not knowing they are suffering a known illness, they struggle through life unaided. Years down the road, they think of their past years and how such a lot of it was wrong and unnecessary. The realisation that ptsd caused life’s problems, the old soldier wasn’t a nutter! Is just a relief. It marks the new beginning. Thank you Craig, for a good vid
Thanks a lot boss. Means a lot mate !! Top man 👊💯
Thanks brother! Your words have been awesome! Your awesome and so is haze outdoors! Keep up the with the positive words! Love ya brother!

Takes a lot of balls to do what you are doing
Nicely put Craig. There really is no better tonic for any form of mental health than getting outdoors in nature. Seems you've had more to cope with your life than me and I'm probably twice your age so well done on kicking your demons in the teeth and getting the message out. Now subbed cause I like your style
cheers Pete mate means a lot mate. hasnt been an easy ride!
I think getting a good night sleep is a massive thing for mental health ,well done bud great vid and good advice

Hey mate, im very late to the party here but so glad i found your videos. As a Veteran Sniper myself and have only just realised i need to help which has taken me such a long time to realise. I’m from a back ground where your “Weak” if you show any emotion. I once had a Sgt Maj (early 90’s era) call me weak because id hurt my ankle so bad that i was in plaster and on crutches. That shit hit hard… ive still got all my kit, basha, doss bag etc gathering dust in the garage so you’ve inspired to get out into the local woods. Thanks mate. When your going through Hell, Keep Going!
Top man mate respect 👊 get yourself out there lad 🤙
Dude...this was great! Being USAF (F-16 and then/now A-10 Crew Chief) for many years and deploying to Balad Iraq, Bagram AFG, al Jaber Kuwait, and Kandahar AFG over a 10 year period I don't really feel like there was much to stress about. We weren't in the sh*t on the air bases, although we were on edge with mortars, rockets, and the occasional 7.62 whizzing overhead...oh, and a 1000lb truck bomb not too far from where I worked in Iraq that kind of shook/scared me. My wife has told me I'm different since the first trip to Iraq, and I still find myself getting angry quickly at times over small stuff. I never thought to talk to anyone about it because, well, I'm Air Force and we have golf courses and nice hotel dorms on bases...lol. About a month off work after each deployment and I was drinking almost every night. I also have found peace by solo camping, and another hobby restoring vintage vehicles like a 52 Ford 8N tractor, 48 Willys CJ2A Jeep, and for giggles a 76 Sachs moped that are all running like new. BTW, steak looked good although I like mine a bit more medium rare...but I'd eat it...lol. Keep on keepin' on my friend.
Cheers for sharing bud and now and again I can slip back into the short fuse thing. Vintage tractor sounds wicked man. Campings the one bud !
Your authenticity and honesty did the subject proud - as did the Porterhouse! Bravo for keeping this going and encouraging the discussion 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Instant like. Important topic. Have to go now, but will watch the rest later today!
Thanks for sharing your journey Craig. From experience, when mental health issues creep in and affect the quality of life, talking is the last thing I felt like doing. Eventually I had to talk and ask for help. It was the only way out, I couldn't do it alone. I've come out the other side, which didn't seem possible at the time. If I could give my younger self some advice I'd say talk and ask for help even if you think you can't, even if you think it's not worth it and even if you think you're not worth it. You are.
100% mate bang on bud. Thanks for the comment mate
Thanks for opening up. It's always good to find it within to let people in on the journey. I still struggle myself - die die die is in the mind but am dealing with it. If the world won't love you love yourself at least. That's where is starts. Easier said than done but little things each day builds up the light. That video is still open to you if you have the time. Well, here's to you and your friend in spirit. Mark

Firstly, Craig thank you for your service.
I'm glad you have your demons under control, we had a few issues with our lad after his tour in Afghan, thankfully family and friends rallied around and helped to pull him through the dark days.
